  • In the southwestern region of Wyoming is a little known and rarely visited area called the Red Desert. Within this is "Adobe Town," a fantasia of hoodoos, rock toadstools, and stone pedestals where wildlife abounds. There is an ongoing war that has been taking place here for decades between those who want to exploit the land and those who want to preserve it. What will the future of this region be?

Very beautiful video. I was unaware of how fascinating this region is and didn't know about how much it was threatened. Thank you!

Thanks for bringing us some footage from Adobe Town! I'm surprised how little we see on youtube.
It's the most amazing place, and I'm sure you'll agree: it's hard to capture the grandeur of the place on film. It's such an amazing playland, and when you visit, you have the whole place to yourself. I've never seen another human there except the couple who were with me on my first trip. Since then, I've come to love going alone, just me and the horses, snakes, and the rest of the wildlife you captured on film. I can sit for hours examining just a single wall of mudstone, eroded into crazy shapes. There's one canyon that looks like a troop of goblins, turned to stone. It's a fun place to take your imagination for some exercise!

It's nice to hear from someone who's been there also. Yes, I certainly like it there. It's hard to reach but beauty and solitude await.

@@rockhopperadventures Ha! "Hard to reach" is an understatement! In the future, I'll go there only by motorcycle. Trying to get any larger vehicle past the eroded "roads" is just too much work!

I'm going to be traveling through the Red Desert this summer on HWY 80. I've not seen this part of Wyoming and looking forward to it.

Wow....truly amazed by this Bryan. Beautiful videos of the area and very informative documentary. I kept hoping to hear a bit of your original native American flute music entertwining with those fantastical desert rock formations!
Definitely 👍 Thanks for your time and energy.

Thanks so much Jessica! Don't worry, there will be more Native American flute in upcoming videos such as one where I will feature Indian ruins and petroglyphs.

The elk refuge in Teton valley is full of shed antlers from elk. They take the scouts out every season to collect them. Then the scouts sell them to the highest bidder to make money for the boy scouts future projects.

Don't only blame oil and gas for habitat destruction. Transcontinental railroad, Overland Stage, US 30, I-80, Interstate pipelines all did their share of destruction. One company wanted to open a huge landfill operation south of Wamsutter. People voted it down.
