€dit, if you take a look into commercial Clip at ETTV link below, u can see a straight tear in the packaging. So I really sure now that this is plastic.
On the other side, in the clip, the meat is frozen. So it is hard to get a good alternative to plastic.

I find it odd how they don't automate all of the processes. If they moved some of the machines together, and built machines to flip them over or whatever, they wouldn't need a person to just sit there doing a very boring job.
it probably serves as quality control checkpoints. minus well have them do something if they're going to stand there.
