Some powerful imagery in this video. As you see the daughter helping the mother get up from the couch, and serve food to her parents, it then flashes back to when they did these things for her.
My perspective of the song is there is so much pain and abuse growing up for so many of us, me included. If we want to know love and be loved, then we will have to work through our pain and change by breaking the generational cycle/curse. In order to have love we have to trust someone in order for them to trust us or we can't change.I was never loved and was severely abused in every way and Unspeakable pain and hurt and finally was put in the system and slipped through the cracks cuz no one wants older kids that are damaged and broken and was to old to have love and a forever family. I put so many walls up cuz went through abuse in the foster care system as well and was a runaway on the streets at 16. All I wanted was love and someone to be there and care, but I couldn't be loved til I work through the pain and change my thinking and mindset but that means you have to trust even though only love you know is abandonment, rejection, and abuse. You can't have love without pain, trust, and change.
Sounds like a Sammy Hagar song…. “If You Want Love If You Want Love, You've Got To Give A Little If You Want Love If You Want Faith, You Just Believe A Little If You Want Love If You Want Peace, Turn Your Cheek A Little Ohhh, You've Got To Give You've Got To Give You've Got To Give... To Live”
This song screams of vulnerability to me. More specifically, opening up and allowing others to be involved in your life. You must accept the vulnerability to experience the best parts. Not even Christ carried his cross alone.
i prefer when reactors, react in the moment something hits gives me a new perspective or way of thinking of that specific part of the song. thats just me tho
NFs songs have at least 3 layers and each talks to 3 types of people. Someone thats experienced traumas, someone that has empathy for that child the experienced it , and like this song a more generalized idea. The video goes with the 3rd kind.
