A few important notes about the mission: 1. You can safely switch out the F-16s for other fighter types. The script will still work. Just don't change the name or number of aircraft in the group. 2. Since this mission writes to the local drive you will need to comment out the sanitize lines in the MissionScripting.lua file. This is something that needs to be done for any script that does persistence/saves data. To do this find the file under Scripts in your DCS install folder. And then add two dashes/minus signs in front of the three sanitizeModule lines. It should look like this when you have it right: --sanitizeModule('os') --sanitizeModule('io') --sanitizeModule('lfs') 3. I don't receive notifications from comments in the ED files page. So if you need me to see something share it here please. 4. Download page: www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3340802/
When launching the mission on a multiplayer server I don't get the Save Data in my SavedGames. Do I need to comment out the lines in the server side .lua? I did it in my own DCS install folder and it worked in Singleplayer, but not in multiplayer. Thanks anyway for an awesome trainings mission!
Such a great idea. Been a long time since DCS (switched to BMS), but if/when there's a switch back, will definitely be giving this a shot. Nice work Mike
Fantastic tool! I guess it is more effective if flown by real players rather than AI in your flight, correct? Thank you Mike for yet another great contribution to the DCS players community 👍
You know, a Discord channel where people that like these sorts of videos can find other people that like these sorts of videos would be very helpful. It is hard to find people that actually do training flights like you showcase rather than just say how great they are. Of course, managing a social media channel can be a huge headache and it may cause you to doubt humanity in general but if you were so inclined I think it would be a great resource.
Hi, I'd like to thank you for the BVR script, but I have a problem. I'd like to implement it in a mission where I have more scripts and the fact that your script doesn't have submenus prevents other functions from being seen in the F10 radio menu. It would be a good option to put the scenario options in a submenu.
Hello Mike. I tried it yesterday with the tomcat, only with AI, removing a lot of radar searching and coordination fun, but still very good. Those sneaky su 24... Ahah. Just wondering, my Awacs does not see any bogey. Is that normal? The fact that we have no kill notification, no Awacs, no data link... Well, that is a game changer. Excellent. Thanks. JAR
Awesome! Is it possible to modify this mission to replace all the AI on the red side with humans?and to have a flexible number of players on each team?
Even real world fighter pilots found they had room for improvement in the scenario this is based on. So don't feel like you're doing something wrong. Just like with them practice will make you better. And you're very welcome. 😄
This mission will let you fly it solo. But the real goal was to help people learn BVR as part of a team. If you can get a friend to join you I highly recommend flying it together. It's an incredibly satisfying experience to grow as a team.
Should you be learning how to build and program the actual software for the simulation? It seems to me the training is not there for the next generation. Nor the advance US STEM degrees...must have been outsource to another country like CHINA and etc...

The Ops Center is the best non-DCS DCS-channel on TH-cam by huge margin. So many extremely interesting videos here, and this must be one of the best.
I love it. Thanks!
Such a great idea.

Nice work Mike
This looks great! I will have to try it out! Please work with Reflected Simulations to make a full training campaign with missions like this!
Some of the best DCS (and military aviation) knowledge out there. Awesome stuff!
This mission and the data it generates is going to be hugely beneficial to my team.
I haven’t even flown this yet and I can already tell that this is one of the most valuable BVR tools ever created for DCS!
This really helped me and my beta testers. We actually saw similar results to the real life USAF version.
100% agree
This is nothing short of incredible. Thank you for bringing this to DCS!
This is going to be the new base for training BVR with my virtual squadron. Thanks a million Mike!
This is like striking gold for those who want to improve their BVR skills. Mine are sorely lacking! Great work!
I'm saving this for when I'm done with your BFM & ACM practices 🤩

Yes. AI performance can vary wildly. Human wingmen are much better.
I will be running this tomorrow afternoon. Thank you so much. I have been trying to figure out a way to track may progress.
Great stuff Mike! Looking forward to checking this out!
Nice work Mike, exctied to play!
Amazing work Mike!
Thank you for sharing this mission
Awesome!! Thanks a lot for this! :)
Awesome Idee, i guess we will use this in our squad also a trainings tool :)
It was really helpful for me. Your group should see a lot of improvement too.
Thanks Mike.
Awesome, will chk it out and report back. THX!
Hey cool, thanks! .... Tho I'll have to change a flight or element of F-16's to F-15C's. .... Or play the red side in a Flanker.

You're right. It's a great goal, but time is my most limited resource right now.

superB video !!!

I haven't tried it with red players. This was only tested with AI on the red side to match the USAF sim. You can give it a shot though. It might work.
I definitely need some work... On my 1st try, I wound up getting one of the 24s with guns...
But I do want to thank you for the excellent work.

😄
I would love to have this in bms
I hear you. I'd love to be able to port it to BMS. It would fit in great there.
insta-click! : )
Is it something I can also train alone?
This mission will let you fly it solo. But the real goal was to help people learn BVR as part of a team. If you can get a friend to join you I highly recommend flying it together. It's an incredibly satisfying experience to grow as a team.
Can U fly it solo or with just 2 player?
You can fly solo or with up to three friends. Your choice. I highly recommend lowering the difficulty if going with less than 4.
How much is the code tied into aircraft type? I’m thinking of taking this and swapping in JF-17 for my squadron to use.
On a first glance at the scripts, nothing is tied to the aircraft type. You must keep the names though.
You can safely switch the human controlled planes to other airframes.
Wen BMS version?
Need one with Hornets, one with f-15s, F4 etc..
Just switch the planes out in the mission editor. Its not that hard.
As mentioned by Lorian, you can safely switch the human controlled planes to other models. F-16s were used to match the USAF's sim.
Should you be learning how to build and program the actual software for the simulation? It seems to me the training is not there for the next generation. Nor the advance US STEM degrees...must have been outsource to another country like CHINA and etc...
