We picked up free pallets & set them up against sides of coop for extra shade. Then my awesome hubby built a shelter with some pallets, using screws to hold them together. I call it their summer home & put their food & water there during the day. Be creative with whatever you have - old sheets, blankets, towels, trampolines, or playhouses can be used for shade too.

Middle Ga was hard the last 2 weeks. Coops got fans installed, and I made a set of misting lines I use around tropical plants to hang under the trees. Along with frozen milk jugs of water in the watering bowls , girls are happy.

South Mississippi here. Thank you for the reminders!! Triple digit heat this week. My coop and run is well shaded by a giant magnolia tree. A blessing. Multiple times throughout the day I add cubed ice to their drinking water. I also wet down the sand in their run. They love it. I add electrolytes to their water daily along with the Rooster Booster vitamin powder which also contains electrolytes. I have a large shop fan that blows through the run and into the coop itself. This heat is tough. Take care of your girls!! Thanks again for the video!!

Always Great info. I have had chickens for 20 years and I agree with 99 % of your advice. Unlike the people that have had chickens 6 months and think they are experts. Then put out videos with false information that could be harmful.

Your video is very informative and I confirmed that all I did to make my coop cooler is just right, except giving them ACV. I stopped putting ACV on their water as soon as I watched this video. I lost 3 due to heat stroke. I was able to survive one though. Thank you for sharing this video. Have a blessed day!

I use garden shade cloth on the side of their run that gets blasted by sun in the afternoon. It makes a huge difference, just like it does for my plants.

Great tips! Gets crazy hot and humid in Georgia, my poor girls! They have a shaded area and shallow pool with around 2 inches of water.. I put a couple of flat rocks in so they won’t be scared to climb in. Helps a lot to cool their feet! I also add ice to the pool and water feeder

Great vid we use moving fans really high up so the hens won’t jump to them we are in southern FL and our temp is 90+ our poor ladies are dying of heat (not literally, figure of speech) we freeze their favorite foods and we also fill their water with ice but our ladies are scared of the ice not curious so we just give them cool water until the ice melts. I love your videos great video

I am putting the Arizona tubing misters in mine. They are used in Arizona at the entrance to many nice restaurants.

Ive lost 3 chickens to heat stroke in the past 3 months it's been averaging in the high 90's to 101 so often its so discouraging. I've resorted to bringing them a box fan and pointing it inside their coop to keep the air flow good at the very least. they're panting everyday all day. the Texas heat is a bummer.

If chicken’s don’t sweat, humidity shouldn’t be a factor. It matters to humans because we sweat to cool down and humidity prevents evaporation and cooling for humans.
