I bought a bottle of this on a whim for 2 reasons, it was on special and I liked the bottle art haha. But I can honestly say this is one of my absolute favourite whiskeys going. It's phenomenal.
The first thing I got on the nose was "Industrial" spending some time with it, there is alot underneath, like it starts as harsh, them mellows down alot and brings soft yet gritty caramel spicy notes, after I added some water, it went just uphill in any way.
Your reviews are just as good 2 years ago as now mate. Coming to the end of this bottle and want to see what others think. I have found this is amazing in a old fashioned.
I always love seeing the bloopers. Thank you for this wonderful video. It is very honest and true. For me at $48 US it is a very fine DRAM. At the $67 price point no thanks. Even before any tariff was put out the double cask went up to over $65. I had my oneBottle and that was it
My wife picked this one to try while we are the Edinburgh Scotch Whisky Experience and we both really enjoyed it. A real puddingy dram. I was drinking & enjoying it a week ago, then it came up in a blind tasting the day after and the Cambeltown funk was the prominent element - really threw me. Not sure if it was the rest of the line up or my brother picking up on "an odd peat" as he isn't used to peat which sent me down the rabbit hole! Nice review.
Hi Vin, this was a nice review of this Glen Scotia expression. One of my whisky goals for 2019 is to explore the whiskies from the Campbeltown region in more detail. I have not tasted too many of them in the past. In preparation, I have picked up a few bottles of different Springbank, Longrow, Kilkerran and Glen Scotia expressions over the last couple months. When I was leaving Scotland in November, I bought a bottle of the Glen Scotia Campbeltown 1832 at the Glasgow Airport after trying a sample. I look forward to opening that one soon. Cheers !
I just picked this up yesterday for $55.. I so enjoyed the 15 yr that I would give this a chance. From your review it sounds like I will. Great reveiw.
Loved the review. I've been so pleased with all of the Loch Lomond Group rebrandings. I had a chance to try the Glen Scotia 25 y.o. at Whisky Live Taipei, and it was astounding. Like liquid poetry. Once I clear up some of this back-log of whiskies I've got, I'll be sure to pick up a bottle of the Double Cask. Cheers, Vin!
I'm still not sure exactly what stuff is your favourite as, like me, you try a large breadth of whisky. I think you'll find enjoyment in this though, but not if it's too expensive near you
This is £32 in Marks and Spencer. I picked one up last week. Not tried it yet though. I liked the fact it was 46% and unchill filtered. I like sweet whisky so sounds right up my street.
Great review, Vin! I am really happy with my recent Glen Scotia purchases. (the 15 and a limited port finish) I am gonna look for the double cask and the Victoriana at bars cause I am curious on them as well. 👊🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the review, but can't find one review of their very good campletown harbour whisky which is available in Waitrose for £23 wonder if this is just a stronger non chilled filtered version
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Even though it wasn't showing on their website anymore, I picked one up at my local store, I think it's a discontinued line. Shame as it's really good, I don't think it's finished like the double cask but haven't tried that one to compare it to. This one is sweet and sour almost, salty with a little brine.
This year I plan to explore scotch a bit more. I love smoky peated whisky and I have to move on. I’ll still buy them but I need to explore different regions. Cheers Vin. I might buy this. The price is right.
Having the channel really helped me expand out of my comfort zones and explore all the areas. I'm even branching out to other spirits now like rum and brandy
Sometimes in M&S reduced 20% down to £25.6, totally agree Vin, a really nice whisky at that price but if you are paying £40 then there are plenty of other great whisky's as you rightly said.
Good review and thanks for the heads-up, not tried the double cask but being sweet I likely give it a pass, I've still an unopened 2nd bottle of GS 10y cask strength port finish 2018 whiskey festival bottling in the cupboard, so my next CT bottle will be a replacement Longrow. Although I'm going to reign in the whisky purchases until next month.
Like Toby I got my bottle at M&S for £32. Could be best £32 I've spent. However last time in my local M&S it was not in sight. Hope they get more in at the same price.
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Ive got an unopened 12 but no 15. I just checked when I saw your video. 3 glasses into Glen Morangie 10 plus a couple of other opened bottles will be March before Ill get to it
Nice and detailed review, i was shocked how amazing Victoriana was and now I'm pretty confident about Glen Scotia's entry level. Thanks

I love it when it happens like that. Some of the best discoveries are made when you just take a punt on something!

Dead right. There's definitely a ceiling of value on this (and all bottles to be fair)
Not a huge whisky man but got one of these recentl...it's like a fine wine.So nice.
New to your channel. I like the back ground you do of words and origins of whiskeys.
Thanks for checking the channel out! I try to drop at least one bit of interesting info in a video ☺️

That would throw me off too. I didn't get any peat on it. But I'm used to it now as well

That was a good but as it's sold out now! I'm the same though, drastically understudied with Campbeltown

Fingers crossed you do. I think the 15 is marginally better but the price difference should reflect that
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I think I'll enjoy it. I also have a G&M 23 yr Scotia awaiting to be opened.
That's going to be special one!
Very accurate review!👌🏻
Cheers! 🥃🥃

"liquid poetry" LOL
I will have to look for this in my local shops, thanks!
I hope you find it. It's pretty good!

Liking the sound of this one. I do have a weakness for the sweeter drams. Willing to take a punt on this baby.
I doubt you'd be disappointed but make sure you don't pay over the odds for it
I really like this especially for the price. I can pick it up in marks and Spencer's for £25 sometimes.
I think it could do with a permanent price drop to around £30 and it would be perfect
I absolutely love this stuff at a good price.
I actually can't believe it took me this long to discover it.

No Nonsense Whisky I agree. But there is just so much whisky to try. It feels overwhelming sometimes
There's crazy amounts to get through. I just take it one dram at a time and I try not to get caught up in the frenzy around limited releases
Sometimes in M&S reduced 20% down to £25.6, totally agree Vin, a really nice whisky at that price but if you are paying £40 then there are plenty of other great whisky's as you rightly said.
Wow if I saw it for that price it'd be an instant buy!

Tell me about it. I've had to cool the purchases for the time being. I'm not a bit collector so its time to get the stocks down a bit 😂

Definitely. At that price it's a no brainer
Gracias por los subtitulos
I will be trying this whisky soonish... It's NOT cheap here! $118 CAD!!
That isn't cheap! It's nice but not worth too much. I'll be interested in your thoughts
I think I could rock with this
It's sweet enough that it might fill the bourbon hole, but im not 100% convinced you'd like it. Be a nice experiment though
$42.99 dollars St. Louis, Missouri USA.
That’s reasonable I think. How does it compare to the 15?
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Ive got an unopened 12 but no 15. I just checked when I saw your video. 3 glasses into Glen Morangie 10 plus a couple of other opened bottles will be March before Ill get to it
Cool! By then I may well have gotten round to my reviews on them
Haven't tried any Glen Scotia yet but this goes for $100 Canadian around me and the 15 is only $112.
Have you tried the 15? Thoughts?
I haven't tried it yet but I do have it in the queue. I should imagine the difference makes the DC a bit irrelevant though
At 112 Canadian for the 15 yr is a no brainer matey get it bought ! Miles better for 12 Dollars.
@@gareth630 bro that was 4 years ago 🤣
Was I right though matey the 15 is bloody good. Never check the date stamps but who gives a fuck, to old to pissed 🙂
