We went down to Illinois to fish with our Illinois family for the 5th year in a row! We ended up catching a ton of fish! Me and Paul Doubled up in 2 holes, the second having 2 50lb fish in it! Our buddy Neal even caught his PB, a 60lb Flathead catfish! Part 2 with that video is coming soon!

I'm from Illinois and back in the 40's and 50's my uncles used to hand fish the Spoon River near Wyoming Illinois for big catfish. Back in those days they called it " hogging for catfish." I live in Nashville, Tn. now for 30 yrs. and love watching Hannah and Jeff's channels!
Back in the early 80's, I spent weeks at a time on the Spoon River occasionally taking fish to relatives to feed them.
In the 70s, I could see the origin of the Spoon River from my house. Not much to see.

I hate being in cold water. When I was in Vietnam, last 8 months I had to take showers in water that was pumped from a deep well. Water was a measured, 40 degrees F. Get wet, soap up, rinse off, 1 minute or less!

Some of those catfish seem very calm when they get captured. It's like you are holding them in the water and they don't even try to swim away. Are they still half asleep?
They’ve been out of the water for a bit. Once the water gets flowing through their gills they will pep back up. There are different schools about the stress it puts on them but thats another conversation.
