Thanks for uploading this video. LeMond owed nothing to Boyer. They were rivals and did not like each other. LeMond had the talent to win, and raced a smarter race. Saronni had a wicked sprint. Good racing!
@@uberkloden Normally, I would agree with you. In this case, there was no American team, per se, each rider was paying his own way to race that day. Additionally, before the race, it had been decided between and agreed upon by the American riders, that each rider was racing for themselves. Boyer and LeMond raced on different professional teams, and did not get along personally. LeMond owed Boyer nothing, thrice over. Plus, watch the film. Boyer went way too early in the sprint. He was spent 200 meters out. There is no way Boyer could have won. LeMond rode the smarter race to finish second to the wily pro Giuseppe Saronni. Finally, look at their career results. Q.E.D. Not even close.
Giuseppe Saronni campione de mondo, similar to Gianni Motta, Vittorio Adorni, forza. I miss these years of cycling. 60's 70's 80's. its a shame! Its hard to find racing bikes with Campagnolo parts nowadays.
@@thomasgilson6206I respectfully disagree. The bearing quality of the Campagnolo equipment is far more durable and long lived, if maintained properly. DuraAce stuff is good, but Campy Record is better.
La fucilata di Goodwood! Che numero! Grande Saronni!

So, racing against teammates is OK?

Actually, shimano is better.

@@thomasgilson6206 Campy breaks in; Shimano just breaks.
Campagnolo is the best
Class
Dominio tattico , affianca Lemond a tripla velocità, si gira e capisce di aver fatto il vuoto
Saronni 2nd 1981
Saronni 1st 1982
Lemond 2nd 1982
Lemond 1st 1983
Molto bravi e sportivi i telecronisti della BBC
❤
Dang..Saroni should have given Lemond half of the purse, cuz Lemond pulled him to victory...anything to stop Boyer from winning
Boyer never forgave Lemond for chasing him down in sight of the line.
More fool him then as the '82 worlds was also the U.S. national road race championships for that year. So they were indeed rivals in this race.
I remember the noise of the crowd as Sarroni swept past me that day. As for Lemond, he was the perfect lead out man.
Lo que hizo este día Lemosd es una vergüenza, que mal compañero, corrían en una selección nacional, no para su equipo comercial y eso no se hace.
