Humour, instruction and your own sad at times, but very uplifting biography. May you and Jennifer scoot across God's clouds on another motor bike and bless and amuse those in Heaven with your antics. such a dear, sweet lady, and there was always such a great wistfulness and sense of sadness about her...She seemed to be such a kind person, and I know she had experienced, accomplished and overcome much in her life. Did read Her book, "Spilling the Beans". and loved it, made me appreciate her even more. Some issues she left me cold on, but, I concede, she was entitled to her opinions on them. I was glad to know the truth of the friendship between her and Jennifer, as I had read and heard they didn't really get on at all..I understand now why Clarissa distanced herself from the drinking, Jenn never gave it up, never intended to, and Clarissa couldn't be around that. They both left us way too soon...amazing, lovely, hilarious duo...RIP
Love this woman! She lived a full life which included privilege, suffering, addiction and recovery, and through all those experiences, she grew into awareness, with honesty and enlightenment! What an inspirational life! RIP Miss Clarissa, or since you believe: May you have a wonderful positive rebirth! From her own mouth, how she'd like to be remembered: For her humor; believing what she says; being seen as a person of integrity; as one who said what she thought if people agreed or not, but also allowed others their beliefs, and mostly remember her as one who loved good food, laughter, the company of good friends and as a "good ol' happy fat cook." xo
She was an amazing woman....warm, yes, acid sometimes but to those who deserved it, no doubt, she had a position in life and that what counts, love her and Jennifer, of course
What Clarissa fails to mention is that whilst she may be good at spending money, judging from her memoirs she normally spends most of it on other people.
The interviewer has has no idea what alcoholics are or what alcoholism is. Clarissa is telling her story of her ailment in a way that speaks to those who know. She knows the meaning of sobriety. Well done indeed Clarissa. Well done !
Both Clarrissa and Jennifer were very spiritual women . It's the best way to be. I miss Clarrissa and Jennifer. Clarrissa is right God is found in Gods creation. And more people should find that " still small voice of calm".
Not a very great deal has made me proud to be British in recent years, but Clarissa D-W. was one of the great exceptions...a lesson to this generation in self awareness and common sense....The virtues of the stiff upper lip are often derided these days but those virtues are self evident in this great lady.👍
Alcoholism is suicide in slow motion, so there’s really very little difference between it vs other methods which are more immediate- tragic! I’m so glad that Clarissa ultimately had the courage to trust in God to help her through this major challenge she had in life.
Interesting interview . Just wish the interviewer had mixed it up a bit . Her constant responses of Yes Yes and Right Right were a little wearing on the ears
This is hitting home. The question I have maybe morbid and for that I apologize. Question is: is this the first interview after her friend from Two Fat Ladies had passed?
Actually, in the Christian East the effort was much earlier than that. It has always been the Eastern tradition for both the Scriptures to be read and the Liturgy to be done in the vernacular, in the language of the people. You can read about the conversion of the Slavs by Saints Cyril and Methodius and their invention of the Cyrillic alphabet in order to translate the faith into the local language. It took Rome and the West far longer, unfortunately.
I am a Buddhist, a recreational one, but I am often inclined to listen to sermons given by Christian priests, both protestants and Catholics. Buddhism's effort to make their own holy scriptures legible to ordinary people started rather too late, whilst Christians began their work as early as in 16th century.
For They That Are Such Serve Not Our Lord Jesus Christ, But Their Own Belly; And By Good Words And Fair Speeches Deceive The Hearts Of The Simple." ~ Romans 16:18 "For Laying Aside The Commandment Of God, You Hold The Tradition Of Men" ~ Mark 7:8 "Forasmuch As This People Draw Near Me With Their Mouth, And With Their Lips Do Honour Me, But Have Removed Their Heart Far From Me, And Their Fear Toward Me Is Taught By The Precept Of Men:" ~ Isaiah 29:13
Although it Was Jeneffer who was the theatrical one, we must remember that Clarria, as a barrister, who had the best theatrical training of all! I think that she believed every thing she says here, but who but she and god, really know?
Wonderful talk by Clarissa but as uncharitable as it may be the irritanting manner of the lady interviewing her detracts from her honest and humbling words. Please be quiet and just listen.
Most important is believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior the only way to God. We should be grateful that Jesus died for us and rose again to save us from hell. Man can not save us. Only Christ.
I would stay and listen to Clarissa for hours but as soon as I realized that was a reverend I’m out. I’m actually surprised Clarissa did this. She was always vocal about the hypocrisy of organized religion in certain areas, not all, but certain areas.
It is very hard to believe Clarissa. A lot of what she described in this interview gave me a gut feeling that she was not the most forthright person. When she said her father was a brilliant surgeon who was an abusive alcoholic, I thought it too outlandish to be true. Also, when she said she cooked a ten course feast in a "blackout" state in one night, leaving the kitchen spotless, I thought, "Yeah, right you did!"(even if she must have had kitchen helpers, it seems too unreal!) I mean, it Could be the truth, but I thought to do a rudimentary bit of research because a couple other stories did not seem accurate, and I found that her sister, Heather Stretton, claimed that she was a "fantasist" and a swindler, which is a polite way of saying she was a thief and liar. The sister had some monstrous claims against Clarissa! It might have been bad behavior before her sobriety, though. I do not know the truth, but it is disconcerting that she might have been dishonoring her father on sacred ground, even if it is just a case of twisted perception. Does anyone have any more details about this woman's life? Now I am curious.
What she tells is a very common story among survivors of alcoholism. The abusive family background, the appearance of social normality hiding horrible home life, and yes, definitely the ability to perform tasks remarkably well, not have people notice the problems, but also have no recollection afterwards. Besides the common thread from the experiences of others, the retelling of the big catering evening story with the delay in being willing to even ask what it was she cooked because of the shame is the key that tells me this was no made up story
@@marvellousmrsmoller Yes, yes, you don't have to lecture me about alcoholics. Look, there are generalities that you and I might agree on, but, alas, this is not one of them. Good day to you, tho - It seems you might have gone through the ringer youself!
@@Inexpressable Normally, I would overlook a statement like this, but I am curious. Why would you be certain that I am not a voice of reason and why would you claim that I am rude, when I have been the one to give examples and counterpoints, and the benefit of the doubt, while you have not? Again, I am genuinely curious, and I am actually hoping for an answer.
I can't continue to watch this! The Reverend doing the interview is annoying with her constant " yes, yes " & "mmm, mmm" !!! She is a really terrible and bothersome interviewer, who just keeps interrupting her subject with unnecessary noises!
We lost someone unique when Clarissa went to a perfect world. Regarding the interview, I wish that horrid little woman had kept her mouth shut and let Clarissa speak for herself.
Why there are ANY priests is the issue. God tore the temple veil from top to bottom on the day of crucifixion, quite effectively ending forever and the use of humans as priests, since Jesus Christ just established himself as the one and only high priest and the one and only intercessor. The temple veil was where the priest went back to converse with God, and then come out and give people their specific instruction. The whole reason God tore it is because *there was no more need for it*, because now Jesus had established the ability for every person to deal directly with God. When he said to come boldly before the throne, it didn’t mean the throne of a human, either. It’s referring to God‘s throne. Any religion that calls itself “Christian”, but blatantly ignores the fact that Jesus Christ is *the only intercessor* and *the only priest*, encouraging people to engage in necromancy, while they go around basically engaging in Roman paganism with their demi-gods that they call saints and Mary has absolutely disqualified itself for the title of Christian… The Bible does not instruct people to talk to anyone but to God, and in the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ himself said that he could do nothing without the Father. ***God says “call no man father, for I am your Father”*** So what did the Romans do? They tossed all that out the window, and did everything God said not to do, and they don’t do what he said TO do. Examples (because it would take weeks and several books to cover them all): “Do not pray the repetitive prayers of the heathens”. Rosary, and every other memorized prayer. “Go to YOUR closet and confess to ME”. Them, confessional booth. “Do not make any images of anything in the heavens, or beneath the earth, or in the waters beneath the earth”. What do they have? Statues of angels and demons. Lots of them. Not to mention statues depicting gymnastic self-pleasuring, bestiality, and pedophelia (Vatican “art”). No man of God would have anything to do with such imagery. God instructs people to destroy those images, IF, IF, IF they have the right and the legal possession of them. They are NOT to go to around destroying other people’s property, regardless of how ungodly it may be, and they are certainly not to bring them into their own possession, unless it will give them the right to destroy it. Not if it won’t. In other words, you have no right to destroy other people’s pornographic or otherwise offensive property (including public property, because it is only partly yours, not entirely yours), their ownership is between them and God, and you are never to bring it into your own possession, unless you are legitimately buying it so you can immediately destroy it. “Do not make speechless statues or bow down to them”. What do they do? They make “shrines“ to Mary and saints... And they kneel down, which I guess in their twisted minds is not actually “bowing down”, although in God’s eyes it is definitely making speechless statues and bowing down to them. God says to come directly to Him. They pretty much go directly to anyone else BUT God. Jesus Christ is *the only* intercessor. They ignore that, and apparently nag a very dead Mary and saints. If they go in the Old Testament, they will find and example of consulting, which is also harassing, the dead. You are NOT to consult or harass the dead for anything. Besides the fact that it is a commandment, there is absolutely nothing they could possibly know that God doesn’t know more about. If you want to know something, why would you go to anyone but the best anyway? Why would you go to anyone but God? This is probably why so many Catholics have problems with their relationships. They have more relationship problems because they clearly don’t even have the common sense to go directly to the source. You don’t go to a prostitute or a gigolo to strengthen your marriage, and you don’t go to the best friend, mother, brother, boss, coworker, butcher, baker, or candlestick maker of your friends or family or spouse in order to strengthen a relationship with those friends or family a spouse (if you do, you are definitely doing it wrong, and you are betraying trusts and violating your relationships in the worst possible ways), and you don’t go to Mary and saints to strengthen your relationship with God. Speaking of a very dead Mary, she never realized that she wasn’t just going to give birth to the Son of God, but that for thousands of years, her rest would be harassed by horrifically misguided people, incessantly nagging her around the clock (and teaching others to harass her day after day and night after night with thousands and millions of voices calling out to her in her grave when they are instructed to go to God with all that). They nag and nag her for favors, when the Bible clearly instructs them to just use the name Jesus Christ for any intercession, and to just speak directly to God for EVERYTHING. After all, he’s the one you’re supposed to be having a relationship with. **Poor Mary.** **All those people who claim to love her, and yet they treat her so unlovingly, by barraging her with demands and requests and pleas for help and for things that are not in her power or control, but are only for God to handle.**
You will not find one single word about Mary being empowered in anyway whatsoever to do anything for anyone, other than giving birth and raising Jesus, (and his brothers and sisters, so for all you people that think she’s a “perpetual virgin“, at least four of his brothers are mentioned by name, and he has brothers and sisters both plural mentioned, so God never deprived Mary and Joseph of the family that they had planned to have. They did go on and have a regular family, and Jesus was the half brother of their children. It’s blatantly obvious, and I don’t know how they miss it, that a major deception was implemented by the Romans (and Jews) when the true Christians were spreading the true Gospel, (which has nothing to do with bizarre little rituals and shrines and religiosity which has put people off of the true relationship with God for centuries, and that was the whole purpose of doing it in the first place... To put people off the empowering Word of God)… When the Romans and the Jews could not stop the true Christians from empowering and liberating people with the true gospel, by imprisoning, torturing and murdering them in all manner of horrific ways, they did what they could to physically stop them, the. eventually Rome gives up and pretends to join them. They took the old adage “if you can’t beat them, join them“, and added their own little twist with the word “pretend to” join them. (By the way, later Rome and the Jewish authorities would come to create Islam, another false version of the gospel, because of people in Arabian countries had heard of Jesus, his fame and gone far in line, so they couldn’t just pretend he didn’t exist, and if they had got ahold of the true gospel, then THEY would’ve had the favor of God and been able to overpower Rome, so in a backhanded way, they created Islam and inserted it into their culture in a way that would look like it came from an Arabian person. Do your research, you will find it.) To fake a version of Christianity, they just took their pagan Roman traditions and put biblical names on everything. So, instead of the gods and goddesses, they just named them as Mary and all their various saints. All the holidays are on former pagan holidays, Easter is Oestara, and has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. They would dip the eggs in the blood of their sacrifices in order to ensure the fertility of their fields, animals, and themselves. There are Christians that still dip Easter eggs, reenacting the dipping of the blood in the sacrifices. Christmas was just Yule/Winter Solstice, which was and is still worshiping the sun returning, after the shortest day of the year. I could go on and on about all the other fake Christian holidays, but suffice it to say that the so-called “Christian“ holidays aren’t nothing of the sort. They are just a massive deception. And, they are indeed forbidden in the Bible. Again, God says not to go with what makes you feel all good and warm and fuzzy, (but a lot of religions do teach to go by the good warm fuzzy feeling), but to go with what is written, because it’s easy to be deceived by what feels good and right. You won’t find it anywhere in the Bible any instructions to go to anyone but God to confess, go to anyone but God for forgiveness, go to anyone but Jesus Christ for intercession, you will never see yourself instructed to make buildings and statues and idols and shrines… In fact you will be commanded NOT to do those things. You will never find anything regarding purgatory or a holding area for dead people. You cannot bribe God with “ indulgences“, And you cannot bribe, God with anything. There’s no such thing as a “holy war”. The only “holy war” will be when Jesus Christ himself comes. He is the only leader of any holy war, and it has yet to come. Any one that killed anyone saying they did it in the name of God was….Lying. That’s what we call a false flag. They said they came in the name of God, and then did ungodly things. These ungodly acts have made a lot of people turn away from God, saying that they wouldn’t serve a God that would have them do those things. They are right, only Satan has you do those things. But they were lying and misrepresenting God. Doing any of those things is like eating a steak every day and calling yourself a vegan. By the very definition, you do not qualify. So, Catholics qualify as pagans, because the activities they perform are pagan. They can jump up-and-down and scream and yell and say that they have some sort of evidence otherwise, but as long as they have statues and priests and confession booths and images of angels and demons, and all the other stuff, then by definition they are pagan, and they are defying what God said to do and they are not doing what God said to do. Jesus said those who follow after him would do as he did, which was to teach people about the Father, and how the kingdom of God, which is not heaven, it’s the kingdom of God-it’s how the world works or is supposed to work here, and he cleansed the lepers, healed the sick, raised the dead, and cast out demons, and taught people that they were valued children of God, and how one is to conduct oneself when they are children of God himself. He also came to teach about the blessings and gifts that are to be had here, not in some future heavenly place, although there are rewards there as well, there are many to be had here. Again, Jesus said those who follow after him will do as he did. Everything he did. All of it. Anyone who follows after him. A two-year-old. A 100 year old. All people who follow him in between. If they are not doing what he did, better just showing up to warm a bench in a church, and to reenact some rituals, then they are pagans, and they are not Christians. Of course, the Jewish authorities and the Romans who were controlling the world then, and are still controlling the world now, and they did not want people to know what their Spiritual rights are. I still don’t want people to know what their spiritual rights are, because it is the only thing they fear even to this day. They have misguided, misdirected, and done anything they possibly can to get people to either hate the word of God altogether, which is their preference, or to think they are following the word of God when they are doing exactly the opposite, and definitely not claiming their rights to help, and yes, even prosperity, because you cannot care for others if you have no money to do so… The good Samaritan had the money to have the man tended and cared for, and agreed to cover all his medical bills. You can’t do that if you aren’t prosperous, even wealthy, and God lays out the four main ways to prosper, and to some degree, what the return rates are. Nowhere does it say “blessed are the poor”. It says “blessed are the poor *in spirit*….” And the only reason it is difficult (not impossible), for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, not the kingdom of heaven, but the kingdom of God, and why it is easier for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle, is because the rich man is self-reliant and egotistical, and thinks that he is a self-made man, rather than giving God any credit, therefore his head and his ego are bigger than a camel, and he never learns to rely on God, and when you don’t rely on God, you are not entering the kingdom of God. You have to cast ALL your cares on Him, not some of them, but all of them ...and you have to realize that He is your provider, not your boss or your government. That’s part of the good news, because regardless of your boss or your government, God will still provide for you, provided you meet the very simple conditions which are all laid out in the book. He is also the God that heals you, and the instructions are in the book; He is your protector and your fortress, and the instructions are in the book; It’s all in the book.
Oh yes! Unfortunately, my mother drank 2 bottle of vodka a day- her friend never went to the liquor store for 1 or 2 bottles - vodka was bought by the case! My mom as a true lady, she as very kind, very generous to any friend in need. She had a very sad & abusive childhood - my dad died in a tragic accident when I was 5 yrs old,my brother was 7. They were childhood sweethearts - so very happy & so in love…..tragedy hits many - ppl do the best they can but, alcoholism is a terrible crutch to overcome! I understood everything Clarissa has said - I witnessed all of this!
That's something most church people do! Must be something they learn at some point maybe to sound more religious or spiritual. Very fake! This one is very annoying.
# There was/IS GOOD REASON For The REFORMATION. 1st TIMOTHY 2:5 CLEARLY SAYS... " There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." # NOT THE POPE ; PRIESTS, OR The ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH.
I enjoyed this interview but the interviewer is annoying and distracting. Yes yes. Hmmm hmmm, yes yes, hmm hmmmn, yes yes,🙄🤪😫 right right, yes yes, 🤯🤯🤯🤯 and she interrupts also rude. Yes yes, right right
I love Clarissa... but the Christian church has never accepted reincarnation and does not now. Not sure where she got that. God created you as YOU - you are not someone else. You are a living soul and the only thing that matters ( for eternity) is - Jesus and what you do with Him.
@Gary Williams @Elizabeth Shaw "The woman looks ridiculous in a priests collar v. The only place you won't find a woman in power is the Catholic Church." The word of God is the point. Mark. 3: "And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach" (14).

I can remember Clarissa once saying... "If you want to make God laugh...tell him your plans".
That reminds me of a saying that my Hungarian husb. told me is common:
"Man plans, God decides"

That priestess. Egads. Get the hook.
Wonderful talk by Clarissa but as uncharitable as it may be the irritanting manner of the lady interviewing her detracts from her honest and humbling words. Please be quiet and just listen.
Read "Johnny Scott's book of Britain" you will be pleasantly surprised.
What makes the book surprising? Does it include references to CDW?
Most important is believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior the only way to God. We should be grateful that Jesus died for us and rose again to save us from hell. Man can not save us. Only Christ.
Are we not all glad that she did not go for more dangerous things like "substances".
The Apostle did NOT betray the Lord. ONly ONE did Judas. The rest left Him but were repentant later.
Saying seen in a Carolina kitchen:
Good looks don't last.
Good cooking do.
Pick a wife carefully boys.
Is it possible this priest could be more inadequate to the task?
What priest? This is a woman masquerading in male clerical dress, nothing more.
the interviewer seemed overwhelmed.
I would stay and listen to Clarissa for hours but as soon as I realized that was a reverend I’m out. I’m actually surprised Clarissa did this. She was always vocal about the hypocrisy of organized religion in certain areas, not all, but certain areas.
Exactly!
@@Pet.Wifey.Voice.Of.Reason you're certainly not a voice of reason. wow. how rude of you.
@@Pet.Wifey.Voice.Of.Reason hope and wonder some more, then; because I really don't care to sit and try and explain it to you.
THOU, THEE, THY, and THINE! Come on, Britain...
What a terrible interviewer. So many missed opportunities to ask questions instead of annoyingly saying "yes, yes" all the time.
yes - you duck at the right momemt in an abusive household!
I can't continue to watch this! The Reverend doing the interview is annoying with her constant " yes, yes " & "mmm, mmm" !!! She is a really terrible and bothersome interviewer, who just keeps interrupting her subject with unnecessary noises!
CDW seems not to mind. The Rev is trying her best to be spontaneous and 'at ease', albeit superficially.
She's like those awful "counsellors" that are popping up all over.
I think she is trying to assure Clarissa that she is paying attention and interested but you’re right. It is annoying.
We lost someone unique when Clarissa went to a perfect world.
Regarding the interview, I wish that horrid little woman had kept her mouth shut and let Clarissa speak for herself.
Ooofff... how pissy to reprove the little lite interviewer😣
Ah...a Fox News viewer...says a lot🐒
Oh good lord.
The female "priest" didn't even bother to research anything.
Why SHE went there it's mystery
Any religion that calls itself “Christian”, but blatantly ignores the fact that Jesus Christ is *the only intercessor* and *the only priest*, encouraging people to engage in necromancy, while they go around basically engaging in Roman paganism with their demi-gods that they call saints and Mary has absolutely disqualified itself for the title of Christian…
The Bible does not instruct people to talk to anyone but to God, and in the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ himself said that he could do nothing without the Father.
***God says “call no man father, for I am your Father”***
So what did the Romans do? They tossed all that out the window, and did everything God said not to do, and they don’t do what he said TO do.
Examples (because it would take weeks and several books to cover them all):
“Do not pray the repetitive prayers of the heathens”.
**Poor Mary.**
**All those people who claim to love her, and yet they treat her so unlovingly, by barraging her with demands and requests and pleas for help and for things that are not in her power or control, but are only for God to handle.**
To put people off the empowering Word of God)…
When the Romans and the Jews could not stop the true Christians from empowering and liberating people with the true gospel, by imprisoning, torturing and murdering them in all manner of horrific ways, they did what they could to physically stop them, the. eventually Rome gives up and pretends to join them.
Do your research, you will find it.)
To fake a version of Christianity, they just took their pagan Roman traditions and put biblical names on everything.
It says “blessed are the poor *in spirit*….”
And the only reason it is difficult (not impossible), for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, not the kingdom of heaven, but the kingdom of God, and why it is easier for the camel to pass through the eye of the needle, is because the rich man is self-reliant and egotistical, and thinks that he is a self-made man, rather than giving God any credit, therefore his head and his ego are bigger than a camel, and he never learns to rely on God, and when you don’t rely on God, you are not entering the kingdom of God.

When did she pass away?
Clarissa died in 2014
Your a priest? I love you for that.
2 bottles of gin a day? Bloody hell
after the vodka before breakfast possibly. it says more about the strength of the physical body to cope than our intelligence!

The lady leading this interview is appalling!!! Yes yes. Umm umm. Right right...no no. Umm....and one gosh.
That's something most church people do! Must be something they learn at some point maybe to sound more religious or spiritual. Very fake! This one is very annoying.
Glad I am not the only one who noticed, very annoying.
What here??... We don't get to hear the baritone sing that hymn??? Oh, that won't do! That won't do at all!
The skinny lady asking the questions is awful.
she not skinny just much thinner than guest
It comes from Nazarene Judaism and Astrotheology.
surprised she was only 66 thought she would av gone b4 the other one anyway rip
The interviewer was using religion as a crutch ,to cover her inability to cope with life ,very sad ,she would have been better to face her demons
@Gary Williams @Elizabeth Shaw
"The woman looks ridiculous in a priests collar v. The only place you won't find a woman in power is the Catholic Church." The word of God is the point. Mark. 3: "And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach" (14).
Clarissa died and 9 months after that interview.
I wonder did she know she was going to die and that's why she did the interview?
The priestess/vicaress is dead now too.
@andrewmiles3378 really? What was her name and how did she die?
The interviewer is appalling.
