Thanks Skot I agree, I actually prefer Vanilla over UMK3.. I have a video coming out on the 14th touching on reasons why, I already know many will not agree lol thanks for the comment 👊🏼
That's exactly why MK1 wasn't on Arcade Treasures 2. Because it was originally going to be included when it was first announced... then got pulled and mysteriously became a bonus for Kollector's Edition of Deception. An act that seemed like a Beta test for future DLC practices.
Very few people could even get DLC on their PS2 because you had to have purchased the hard drive and the only people who purchased the hard drive were people who played FF11 or EverQuest Adventures
@@RockBandPlayer84 Yeah, I didn't have a HD for the PS2. My point though was that "removing content to sell for extra" was what this felt like when they took MK1 out of this collection to turn into a bonus for MKD, and that THAT practice is what we would start to see with DLC in the PS3 and Xbox360 era.
Man, I forgot about this game. I have it for the Game Cube solely because it had MK2&3. I used to play MK1 on the old Plug n Play. Ended up also enjoying other games on that kollection. Thanks for bringing these memories back to me.
I used to crank my 5.1 surround sound and play this game with the lights off on my 27” Emerson flat screen in college. I felt like I was back at the arcade when I was a kid.
I love your content. Never get bored. A 44 year old man like me always gets hooked when an MK logo appears. I wish one day to see some stuff from the Amiga MK2 port. It was amazing how they put a 5 button game into only one button.
Thanks Niko! 45 myself and I’ll never get bored of this game, as for the Amiga version I’m sure I’ll play it one day, and for real it only used one button? That’s crazy! Thanks for the comment my friend 👊🏼
Many many years ago 😅... when i was 16 and i had mk2 snes version, i was invited to a friend's place to play mk2 in an Amiga 500...or 1200...i don't remember actually. Amiga had that one button heavy joysticks. i will not compare the versions but i can assure you that whoever did this port, he did the best job ever with the one button thing. The game was insanely playable and fun. Actually you can find TH-cam videos for the Amiga version if you want to
I used to have Midway Arcade Treasures 2 on the same platform (PS2) and the sound for MK3 is definitely far from arcade-perfect, as is the other Midway Wolf-based game Rampage World Tour.
Great playthrough as always! I was wondering if I could make a request - A playthrough with Cyborg Smoke, any version of MK3, UMK3, or MKT it doesn't matter, Cyborg Smoke was my favorite character of the MK3 era. Thanks in advance and great videos as per usual!
Emulation nitpicks aside, Midway Arcade Treasures 2 got a solid pack of games, one funny thing, the PC release known as Midway Arcade Treasures Deluxe (which is composed of Treasures 2 and 3) HAD Mortal Kombat 1 in the Arcade Treasures 2 section and also got a patch that fixed the accidental inhability to fight Smoke in MK2 as while the start button still opens the emulation menu, if you do the Smoke trigger, the patched version juuuust for that moment won't open the emulator menu when you press start while holding down, all other versions and the initial release on PC of the collection has the issue that the emulation menu takes priority over the input to fight Smoke, also... you can use the EJB menu without problems... however when it comes to Cyber Smoke... you have to use the Ultimate Kombat Kode or the EJB menu everytime you boot the game as (just like I said with the Midway Arcade Treasures emulation of UMK3 in Armageddon) it doesn't save the data that you unlocked the character, just a tiny question... have you played Pitfighter in the collection? I'm curious to see how it runs on Ps2, because on Game Cube for whatever reason, the game runs very fast, and on Xbox it runs like it should.
Spoiled but we had no idea we were being spoiled back in the day. I do remember buying this, solely for the Mortal Kombat games included on it however lol I remember opening the box in my car and reading the booklet it came with. Good memories 👊🏼
I could, I have it unlocked, however it’s exactly the same as MK2 on this version of Midway Arcade Treasures. But maybe I’ll showcase that 👊🏼 thanks for the comment!
I love the Midway Arcade Treasures games, awesome compilations. I do wish MK2 and MK3 didn't have such crappy audio quality though, they're still a couple of the best versions available for consoles though
Another downside is that you can't do the RANDOM SELECT on the character screens. Also, due to the pause menu glitch, you can't do the Smoke battle in MKII.
I know you play other games other than Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter 2. I don't know if you have a Nes. If you do, can you play Mike Tyson's Punch Out Please.
I have this version on the PS2. I noticed the music and minor glitches in certain stages. Other than that it's pretty good. I wonder if the xbox version has the same issues.
Ok, no problem I can show that version. It IS however a direct replica of the version on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 I believe, but I definitely have it unlocked on my version so I will show it. Thanks for the comment and request 👊🏼
We really lucked out with MAT2 in 2004. So many amazing games all for $20. Such a missed opportunity that Arcade1up didn't include those titkes in their Midway cabs.
Yep, they cut MK1 out for that very reason. They still have the emulator and developer menu frontend on the released disc, you can't load anything because they removed the ROM files.
As good as the emulation, it's definitely not perfect. Whether it's from programming goof, lack of development time, or simply not enough horsepower in the system, there are some quirks in the emulation that keep the games from being 100% accurate to the original title. You'll notice little things mysteriously vanishing shadows in MK2 and MK3 for example.
Absolutely. 3 things that I picked up on immediately, the game was faster, the music was a bit of a mess with sync etc. and the shadows flickering from the characters. Thanks for the comment 👊🏼
i always wished the mortal kombat games didn’t have towers and let you choose who you fight against😢 something like exhibition mode where you choose your opponent then the stage to fight on, the games seems to be over quickly i can beat the mk1 game in 20 minutes or so if rushing lol there’s no replay value
It most certainly was. The only stages missing from umk3 were the bank and the hidden portal where you fought smoke. You just had to cycle through the UMK3 stages twice to get to the original stages.
No. Lol ok fine I can try. But I really dislike that one. I did do a play through of it a couple months ago I believe however, I even show the FMV Fatalities if you remember those on the system.
Thank you for this. Vanilla MK3 doesn't get enough love.
Thanks Skot I agree, I actually prefer Vanilla over UMK3.. I have a video coming out on the 14th touching on reasons why, I already know many will not agree lol thanks for the comment 👊🏼
I've got Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3 on the og Xbox.
They're very impressive collections.
The version of Mortal Kombat 2 seems close to arcade perfect
Oh yeah, tons of fun to play regardless 👊🏼 thanks for the comment

It was also in Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play for PSP.
This is true, this is where it ALL STARTED lol thanks for the comment Glacius 👊🏼
@@heardofrvb Yeah, it released a year after MKD when the "bonus content" was no longer necessary.

This version is solid !! All the levels mixed in is great !

It was on the psp too
Also this was a late video post.
Gotta watch it tomorrow

Shout out to John Focker.
I Tried it Back in 2008 Its Awesome 👍

Thanks for the comment.. I played Pit Fighter WAY back when I got it but I remember saying it felt very fast, I would have to check again though. 👊🏼

This looks amazing on an a CRT TV.
CRTs are great for old school gaming, I may pick up a bigger one just because 👊🏼
Any thoughts on playing Mk2 extra on sholin monks for ps2 or xbox. I like it just difficult. Would be cool to see a review on this 👍
Mk2 on Shaolin Monks is exactly the same game rom as Midway arcade treasures 2. Same emulator and arcade rom
I could, I have it unlocked, however it’s exactly the same as MK2 on this version of Midway Arcade Treasures. But maybe I’ll showcase that 👊🏼 thanks for the comment!
@@BushyStallionit would be very nice if you showed it

I just picked up this arcade treasures so I can play mk on my big screen !
Have fun Martin the disc has a lot of decent games on it also 👊🏼
I LOVE THIS GUYS CHANNEL.. JUST GREAT VIDEOS..
Thanks Walter 🙏🏽
@ KEEP UP THE GREAT 👍🏻 WORK PAL. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎈
What version of MK Mugen is that in the background at the beginning? It looks great!
That's the Davex Edit (now called MKP Revolution). Can't put a link to the channel sadly in the comments. But use the search function. Great edit.
Mortal Kombat DaveX edition I believe 👊🏼
@@BushyStallion Thank you.

I’ve never played this on Xbox, so I’m not sure. But I’ll agree that this is very good, even better back in the day when I needed an MK fix lol
I don't usually Komment on videos much. But if you have it. If not it's ok. But MK2 on the PS2. but the version you unlock in Shaolin Monks.

Could you do street fighter 1987?
Man I remember owning this on my ps2 thanks for the nostalgia 😊
No problem, it’s as fun today as it ever has been 👊🏼
Never seen that collection before looks kinda nice.
A lot of decent games on this collection, check it out if you get a chance 👊🏼

@BushyStallion this is not mk revitalised?
Isn't it MK Chaotic New Era?

You actually can get it to load, at least on the Xbox version, but it won't play sound/music.
Nice looking forward to this
I wanna do a request MK2 on the ps2 with scorpion ❤🔥
I second Mortal Kombat 2 on Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for PS2.
Funny how we, as men, find normal the idea of someone else named "fu**er" "a** destroyer" or something similar on internet.

Shame Darryl, shame! Jax and not one Gofchya grab! 😂👍🏼
A move I don’t use often, I almost forget it exists in MK3 Lol
mk3 is easier then umk3 😅 anyone that finds ultimate mk3 hard try the vanilla version. the ai seems toned down a bit on the easiest difficulty
Vanilla MK3 and then MK4 are definitely the two easiest games to beat of the arcade games.
5:21 the church level wasn’t in umk3
