I am a proud Lebanese Greek and I remember attending Greek cultural classes to learn sirtaki and other dances too of course. This was always my favourite and always will be with its mixture of the slow and fast rhythms from our hasapiko dance. I love that Greece still retains our rich heritage of folk dancing, it is such important part of our traditions. I remember one visitor asking how can we keep to the same rhythm without becoming confused or exhausted. I still laugh because for me, it was the least of my concerns. Dancing on an uneven surface with high heel shoes is the real test of the dance. Beautiful performance.

Especially in medicine: pediatrics, gynaecology, geriatric, haematology et al. I learned Greek a long time ago and am still learning. It is hard but like everything in life, if you persevere and practise, you will speak it. All the Greeks who I have met love it when we try.
