About Noel Gallagher:
Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of Oasis, one of the biggest and most loved bands ever to emerge from the UK. His band played a tremendous role in shaping and inspiring contemporary guitar music from the 1990’s onwards. Noel’s continued success with the High Flying Birds cements his position as one of the most prolific and successful British songwriters of the last 50 years.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds first emerged in 2011 with their eponymous album released in October of that year. The album went double platinum in the UK and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
This was followed by ‘Chasing Yesterday’, released in March 2015 - the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel.
A third album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, was recorded with renowned producer and composer David Holmes in Belfast and London, released in November 2017. There followed a series of multi-genre EPs released over the course of 2019 and 2020, all receiving
high critical acclaim.
June 2021 saw the release of ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ - a Best Of celebrating a decade of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This was the band’s fourth consecutive Number One album and the 12th Number One album across Noel’s career.
The highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Council Skies’, was released in June 2024. The album includes the singles ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘Easy Now’, ‘Council Skies’ and ‘Open The Door, See What You Find’

The lyric is invoking the telescreens from 1984 which watch and record everyone in their homes.
As we get old, our ability to go where we please and be free from our lives deteriorates as our bodies become weaker. Old people's belief they can one day be free is slowly lost as they are left stuck watching TV every day. 1984 is about the government permanently seizing freedom from the public, so the reference is drawing a parallel and it does it well

I write left and play guitar right as well.
Most southpaws learn to play right-handed because the vast majority of guitars are right-handed guitars. When I was a kid lefty guitars were impossible to find, so I had to string mine backwards like Hendrix did. Eventually I also learned to play right-handed. Was just easier that way.

This was my summer tune of 2011, great song by the chief and an amazing album that followed afterwards. Noel Gallagher is a true legend and musician and amazing songwriter.

In Oasis' heyday every gig was amazing, I went to at least 60 & that's a conservative estimate. Been to 5 Liam gigs & he's no where near the singer he was
