    Great video! I enjoyed it. One tip, you definitely should support a snook by the body, not just the lip, to avoid injuring the fish.

    Killer video! Going to be visiting the Miami area and then Siesta Key for a few days as well in February. Hoping to get into some fun on my 8 wt. Are you generally strip setting for fish like this? Im used to trout in Colorado and generally am setting with the rod unless Im working pike. Definitely gave me confidence in getting onto the beach for some early morning fun!

    Best video I've seen that shows just how to fish for Snook from the beach! One question though,
    was this vid made in April? Heading down mid February and curious as to what difference there
    may be in the beach fishing. (I'm a fresh water type, not familiar with Gulf Coast Florida)

    • @FishTails
      @FishTails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching/commenting. Great question. April was the time of year I recorded the video. However, summer is even a better time to target snook from the beach if you are ever able to fish for them then.

    Hey man I loved the video! I love how informative you are as you fish. I had a question, why wear the gloves? I’ve seen a lot of people wear gloves while fishing. I’ve been fishing my whole life and I’ve never used them. I was curious about the advantages. Thanks!🤙

    • @FishTails
      @FishTails  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching! I regularly wear gloves because the bright sun can burn the skin on my hands after a few hours. Also, while handling the tails of jacks and other fish, gloves can protect again getting cut! Good luck out there!

    Great video. Excellent fishing. I’m new to this SW FL area and am learning the saltwater fishing from my years of freshwater experience. I did a small amount of fly fishing streams and creeks before moving to FL and learned a ton from your video here that I can apply to my lightweight spin fishing I do here.
    One question. On your leader are you using straight 25 pound or are you using a tapered leader with 25 pound tippet?
    I realize this is an older video but I’m hoping you receive this notification.
    Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge here.
    P.S. Is the fluoro use use regular line or leader line and is there enough difference to justify the tremendous price difference?

    • @FishTails
      @FishTails  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comments/compliments! Straight 25lb fluoro works great for me. I prefer Gold Label Seaguar as the diameter is the thinnest.

    Great informative video looking forward to putting some of those tips into practice in Sanibel staying for a month in October thought 6 weight a little light for some bigger Snook and Reds. I have 6/8/9/and 10 weight outfits traveling from the UK please could you advise the best choice I will be fishing the shore mainly but hoping to get on the grass flats

    • @FishTails
      @FishTails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      6-10wt is a good range. You can choose a heavier option on windier days when you need heavier line or when you decide to use bigger flies. Good luck!

    Great morning of beach fly fishing! I'm up near Cocoa Beach, and wish our beach was this calm. Question: what are you using for your fly line management?

    • @FishTails
      @FishTails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question: I should be doing more, honestly, since the waves create a constant tangle by my feet as I do not use a stripping basket. However, I tend to move along the beach in the opposite direction of the tide which keeps the line all in front or behind me.

    The part of Florida I visit is too far north for snook. Does this work with other species or are they generally further out?

    Great video bruh. Couple tips I would offer are keep your rod tip closer to the water, strip strike instead trout setting by raising the rod tip, and, bump up to a decent 8wt. You'll thank me later when a 70# tarpon yeets your 6wt into oblivion. You will be testing that warranty fo' sho'!!! Lol

      @hstetser5376 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FishTails raising the rod tip in saltwater in Florida is never a great idea, unless you like broken rods. Always keep the tip kinda low and.use your stripping hand to drive the steel home. With tarpon, you may have to do that several times, they have ultra hard mouths
