Prince Oberyn needed The Mountain to confess that Tywin ordered the death of his sister Princess Elia and her children. He kept The Mountain alive on purpose. With the confession Oberyn can declare war and make the Dornish army march against the Lannisters and the usurpers in Kingslanding. His plan failed though.

Arya is pissing herself because the hound keeps complaining and saying how he just wants gold and to get rid of her, and literally everywhere they've gone to get rid of he they've died before they get there, so she just find the idea of the hound being lost for words hilarious
The " Royal pardon from Robert" was actually a forgery by Tywin to cause dissent in Danny's camp that's why it was delivered to Ser Barristan not to Jorah. We saw him writing it a few episodes ago. If you remember, Jorah already got his pardon after Dany torched the Warlocks of Qarth.
It was a copy of Robert's pardon. Jorah received it way before Quarth. He received it in
Vaes Dothrak right before the wine merchant tried to poison her.
what i don't understand is how she doesn't know its a fake since Robert's been dead for three years.

@@eglantinepapeau1582 i know but she shouldn't even have been that suspicious, it seems like she immediately believed the message. and he should have just said it was clearly fake and that tywin sent it to destroy her court. he wouldn't even be lying.
@@ashleyl3699 She put together thought he fact that he was giving information because he prevented her from drinking the wine that was poisoned. Remember she said to Jorah afterwards that King Robert still wants her dead and asked how he would've even known about her being pregnant. Her seeing the pardon rung a bell and made her realize it was Jorah who gave Robert that information as he was the one who prevented her from drinking the wine.

What Oberin should have done is cut the Mountains arms and legs off as soon as he hit the ground, then demanded the confession. I gotta admit, I almost quit the show after this episode. Then my heart turned cold as a long winter and I no longer cared about any of these characters or expected anything to work the way I wanted it to lol.
He wouldn't have been able to confess because he'd have been in shock.
He should have just not pulled the spear out, it had him staked to the ground already he wasn’t going anywhere. Plus leaving it in actually keeps him from bleeding out so better for interrogation.

Oberin lost when he lost his spear that why Hoplomacus carry short dagger and small shiel in case, noone is allow you to stop fight and go shopping to blacksmith
The actress looks of age but Sansa is still supposed to be a child (young teen). She's likely confused when a grown man who supposedly only loved her mother suddenly kisses her. And she's probably afraid that if she spurns his advances, he will abandon her. Baelish is the only one who has proven able to protect her at this point. Sure the lords of the vale seem nice but her own aunt nearly threw her out the moon door. If her own blood is capable of that, she surely must feel like she can't trust the vale guys either. So, Sansa not saying anything when he kissed her is less likely an indication of her being "infatuated" with him and instead either a reflection of her confusion about him kissing her or strategy to keep him on her side.
i think she admires him. Sansa is kind of well known for changing her dress and hairstyles throughout the season to match the people she admires. here she has blackened her hair and wears black clothes, matching Baelish's own style. she recognizes that he is the most skilled person at playing the game she has ever met and wants to learn from him and be like him.

@@ashleyl3699 The joy of the show is being able to have different interpretations of the subtleties of the amazing acting, so I understand your perspective. I just wanted to clarify that when I said I don't think Sansa is infatuated with LittleFinger, I meant romantically (as Sophie was basically saying in the video as if Sansa was romantically interested because she didn't push him away). I agree Sansa admires his skill but even the word admire has romantic and non-romantic connotations and I was referring to the romantic side. She did not look like she was into any of his kisses compared to how she reacted when Joffree kissed her prior to her knowing what a monster he was. And HuntingViolets already pointed out as well that the hair and clothes are her going back under cover as Littlefinger's neice so she can safely travel in disguise until they reach...where they are supposed to be and her hair is immediately washed back to its original state (edited what i originally wrote as I realize we haven't gotten to that part yet so technically it's spoilers so I removed it).
Well, if he can't have Cat, I guess he thinks Sansa is close enough.
@@Caliab yes absolutely i should have clarified, i definitely think she does not like him, but she is trying to be like him, as in learning to copy the same games he plays on people, including the one she recognizes he is playing on her. he is grooming her and she is now doing her version of grooming him in return.

I will say this about Sansa..remember, she’s learned from the most conniving people how to lie. It was only time she learned how to. She doesn’t like like Baelish she just knows how she needs to act to protect herself. She’s getting smarter and smarter tbh.
Also Jorah had already received that pardon before in that scene where the kid says “the spider sends his greetings..a royal pardon” (or something like that) before Daenerys almost drank the poisoned wine. It was sent purposefully again by Tywin to sabotage their relationship and cause mistrust, which worked 🤷🏻♀️😭 lol

Hubris...Oberyn's overconfidence was his undoing; he became distracted and stepped too close. The focus on his boots as he walked around the Mountain was our first warning and when he made eye contact with Ilyria - someone outside the battle - he was done for. After watching your excitement for Oberyn to win the switch to freakout-scream was perfect! Sorry you had to go through that, but as Mair said...they're not gonna let us be happy. Oh, the pragmatism. 😆
Since you like Tyrion you can see that actor in a different role in a great movie "Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri", which got 2 Oscars for acting.

I hate that Roose Bolton was given The North and Winterfell by Tywin Lannister for killing Robb Stark at The Red Wedding. And now Ramsey Bolton has it all too? I. HATE. IT.
This episode was harder to watch than the red wedding for me. I wanted Tyrion to win his freedom. I loved oberyns character and wanted him to last longer. The second Oberyn died I turned the episode off and didn’t watch Got for a week 😂

Oberyn was a very skilled fighter (as seen). Dude traveled the world and gained lots of wisdom and knowledge. But one thing that motivated him was getting justice for his sister and her children. He knew that Gregor Clegane only answered to one man...Tywin. So he knew that the order to kill them came from Tywin. He can't openly attack Tywin, and he can't poison him (well...there is a theory out there about this..) because he would be one of the top suspects....but if he got Gregor to confess his crimes confess to who gave the order, then he could have the support of his kingdom (Dorne) and probably some other houses in Westeros (one's that had issues with the Lannisters, or wanted to improve their station). So really, he almost succeeded in his plan.
Tywin also sent the letter to Sir Barristan about Jorah's pardon. He wanted to create division in their ranks. Hard to conquer Westeros when you are fighting amongst yourselves. Plus, Jorah has ties to the North (His father was a lord of the North and former Night's Watch Lord Commander) and would be able to have the largest "kingdom" join their cause as Ned and Rob were both murdered by Lannisters. Jorah also knows the great houses of Westeros and which ones to approach for alliances and he knows the country so he can help plan battle strategies. there is a reason Tywin has been Hand of the King for so many years and lived so long...dude is not stupid by any means. Personally, I think Tywin is very much aware that Jeoffrey was killed by someone else other than Tyrion, and he isn't interested in finding the real killers as he benefits from Jeof's death. Jeoffrey is no longer king, so then Tommen Lannister takes his brothers place as king, which is way easier for Tywin to control. And then he gets to get rid of Tyrion (his one shame/stain on the family) but really he wanted Tyrion at the wall...not executed. And with Tyrion on trial...he was able to get Jamie to make the deal to leave the King's Guard and become Lord and heir to Twyin and give him grandchildren and a marriage alliance. Tywin basically turned a lemon into lemonade lol.

Oberyn did not have a true killers instinct, he was to full of himself to get the job done. His hate for the Lannister's was his downfall.
I hate so much that Oberyn died like this. I wish he had just killed the Mountain and stayed around to figure out a way to get Tywin later.

Dany wouldn't have an issue with Missandei and Grey Worm being a thing. She knows both of them had a hard life and wants what's best for them. Above all she trusts them. Grey worm is the best soldier she has form the Unsullied and Missandei is her closest friend. Her braiding Missandei's hair just proves how much she adores her. Most Queen's wouldn't do that for their adviser.

The unbelievable happens - someone actually beats the Mountain, an absolute terror. And in convincing style. And then wham. No they couldn't just let us have this one. It hurts so many ways - Tyrion's fate, more loss for the Martell family when vindication was within reach. And to lose such a great character like the Red Viper before we could really get to know him. 😭

Sansa's 14 years old. I think she's not pushing MiddleFinger away. I think that because she's afraid if she does that, he'll abandon her. Up til now, the people around her have valued her because of some aspect of her gender. Marriage match; sexually attractive; Lady; all the girly things like sewing. Apart from Tyrion, she's been given no reason thus far by whomever is controlling her, to think of herself in any other way.
New outfit: Now she's playing to her only real asset. Maybe she can turn it into a strength? It seems like she's thinking that she might be able to wrap MiddleFinger around her little finger?

This is the exact moment I stopped caring.
They went for the same "backstabbing the audience" gimmick once too many.
Its a book. I dont think George Martin cares about telling a story where he caters his arcs to his audience...
I'm not sure how it is with Oberyn in the books, but GRRM is about messages, and learning from consequences, others mistakes, history at large. Not just simply portraying things as victors would write.
Oberyns fatal flaw was lust for revenge. He felt that his determination and sense of morality would be enough to defeat his adversaries. He didn't believe he needed a strategy, just will power. The consequence for his vengeance and hubris was being defeated by a greater adversary. And the lesson is that making important decisions based on only emotion can trip you up and lead to your failure, no matter your righteousness or determination.
GRRM is not about making people suffer, he's about helping people truly understand human motivations and behaviors and how they lead to either suffering or success.

Nah i think they are more locked in. They are just not as expressive because the shock factor of the game of thrones world has worn off. Everyone who watched this show for the first time gets to this point. The way they analyze characters and their motivations makes it clear they are zoned in still.
