Still love to see Roger & Dave together again. There's a chemistry there, that's not always evident, yet it's still tangible. There's clearly love as well. God bless them. ♥️🎗⚘🌷♥️🌷⚘ 🎗♥️
Just imagine, Syd was still alive when Floyds played this song... Imagine if he was at the concert and came on the stage to talk to his old friends one last time...
@@ethanstewart4222 I read in interview somewhere with Syd's sister who told them Floyd was playing one last show together and he pretty much shrugged and basically said "ok"
You go into this song, knowing how it’s the most “universal” of all of Pink Floyd’s music, and know the background of how it is very much about Syd Barrett. Then you get to the second half, the “chorus”, and here you realize that the two lost souls in the fishbowl are Gilmour and Waters. And then it hits you that now it’s also about Rick Wright, and the extremely complicated relationship he also had with Waters. And then you’ve come full circle in realizing how universal this song is; it’s more than the four men on stage missing their friend, it’s all of us missing someone in our lives, be it a permanent or temporary loss (though I care to believe such loss is never truly permanent).
Perhaps it is also a call to us all to strive for a space, here, elsewhere, corporeal or otherwise, where we can truly communicate, see and appreciate each other for what we are, without thinking that we can tell.
If she was a great human, you can be too. You too mean a a lot to some people you know or maybe dont know. And you also will be remembered by your offsprings or friends as well some day. Dont panic. Listen to the Floyd and relax and let yourself go ;-)
Erm… not really. Even Waters admitted that he was really nervous during the show and didn’t sing well. This works far better with Gilmour singing the whole thing. All that splitting the vocal served to do was demonstrate once again how much a better performer Gilmour is.
@@cs0rpc TBF Roger's voice worked pretty well in the chorus when he's harmonising with David.... pity they didn't use Rick too, especially now that he's gone
One of my biggest concert going memories is being at the very front barrier all that day with my Dad, who was 67 at the time. Amazing to see that legendary performance from just a few feet away. Since losing my dad Bryan two years ago I've rewatched those magical 24 minutes many times. Wish You Were Here obviously more poignant now. Great memories of an incredible day.
You're a very lucky man Wayne. Epic performance. I was working behind a very busy bar in the Temple Bar area of Dublin that day. I downed tools to watch it. The customers respected my decision and left me alone to watch it. What a special day! Unforgettable historic moment in music history.
Wow man that has to be an amazing memory of your dad. I can deal with the aches and pains of getting older. I'm not very fond of saying goodbye to the people who were pillars in my life. It's nice to have memories of those amazing times with them though. Shine On!
In my opinion this is the greatest live performance/ reunion ever. Very emotional comfortably numb solo when u think the guys fell out for so many years to then play together again, one final time. Legendary. #thefloyd
I have never had the honor to see Pink Floyd live. I listen every day to the albums i have and every day i am amazed by the sheer genius of this band! Thank you Pink Floyd for making a bad day fantastic!
Lyrics: So, so you think you can tell Heaven from hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade Your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange A walk-on part in the war For a leading role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl Year after year Running over the same old ground What have we found? The same old fears Wish you were here
He's working on new material, so here's hoping you get the chance. Doubt any future tours will be anything like the scale of the last few, but with luck he'll still do them. I count myself lucky to have seen it three times, in 2006, 2015 and 2016.
Its a testament to just what a remarkable man Syd was, that hundreds of millions of people watch his former bandmates perform a song, band mates who havent even spoken to the guy for over 30 years, a song entirely about him, and everyone of those 4 guys would have been thinking about him. Syds star shone very, very briefly but my god did it burn bright. Incredibly sweet of Rodger to dedicate this song to him. RIP RKB.
They did not advertise this at all anywhere. I'm watching all day, I get home and he needed a place for his bed and I was more than happy to put em up.
I was 18 and a die hard my favorite band ever and I wanted to watch this on tv so bad. Was going to be aired. But I had a plane flight to California to visit my uncle months in advance and was so sad to miss it!!
