I had to do this all day today. But it was parking lots with islands and curbs. I picked up some good pointers from your video, thanks for sharing it with us.
My friends think I am crazy but I like watching snow plowing videos on TH-cam. The only reason I am looking forward to Winter is new videos! Yours are great, have watched them all.
Great Vid Thx 4 sharing. We don't get much snow in Phoenix so its actually pretty cool to see how it works. Good thing we don't have to plow the heat here...lol have fun!
Wow they look great everybody wins In this deal your dad gets his new old plow haha and that snow dogg looks unreal on the dually love the two trucks in same video
I think the western looks better on your dad's truck it fits it better also your truck was kinda big for that plow and the snowdogg on your truck just looks beast! Keep the vids coming man!
With your V Snow dog. Have you worn out your cutting edges super fast due to inferior type steel used to make them like the Western V plow line up? Wanting to know if it is just isolated with inferior steel cutting edges to Western V plows only, or is it also effecting Fisher and Snow dog V's as well? Nice video BTW. I have the optional wings on my 8' pro plus but bent the bracket behind one of them years ago causing the wing to have a good 1" gap, so I stopped using the wings. Just need to heat up the steel to bend it back to correct way then it would be good as new.
You need to stop listening to Dirtmonkey because he is full of BS. He also says the Western controller is junk. He can't run the controller because he never runs the plow. Your cutting edge will wear out depending on how long the plow is on the ground and what type of surfaces you are plowing. You can get thinker cutting edges which will obviously last longer. Dirtmonkey found out that if he posted videos of how much he hated things, they got more views. Please find someone that isn't full of BS to watch. You will be far better off. I no longer run a Snowdogg because I like the Western plows much better. The wiring, controllers and truck mounts are way better than the Snowdogg stuff. Plow construction is pretty close on the plows but I think the Western controller is the best on the market. Their one touch v and scoop buttons are awesome. If you actually spend time using the plow you will learn the controller.
I always enjoy watching your plowing videos and how-to videos. You're very talented. Dearth Dually is one bad truck! I just use my good ol' '95 Dodge Dakota 5.2L with a Snowbear plow :( But it gets the job done for me. Sure beats shoveling. And it doesn't beat up the front end of my truck. How does the 1 ton handle the weight of the big Snow Dogg? Do you have to do a lot of front end maintenance?
Ohio Digger The Snowdogg VXF95 is a huge plow for sure. And it does pull the front of my truck down when in scoop mode and raised up but the 1 ton should be able to handle it. I have been replacing all the parts up front slowly since I got the truck 3 years ago. Not because of the plow but because the truck has 180k miles. Only maintenance is greasing parts. Plow operator has a big affect on how much abuse the truck takes.
What does that unit weigh? It was highly advised to me to NOT put on a plow that size, on my Duramax which has the plow prep. package. Now I might just make them do it haha
+Michael Amurgis The plow is close to 1000lbs. You won't find a dealer that will mount that plow because of the GWR of the front axle. Technically most plows will put the Silverado with a Duramax over the GWR of the front axle. Many people do it and have no problems at all. If you go with a big v plow I would suggest Timbrens in the front and a good amount ballast behind the rear tires. The ballast will actually take weight off the front axle.
I have only been able to use it for one storm but I am liking it. Still working on some things that I don't like. The trip edge is something I am not use to. But most v plows have the trip edge now. I have a few videos working on it and I have a first impression video of it as well.
mossman381 My friend did thousands of dollars in damage to his v plow when he hit a man hole cover with his v plow in the v position... Rad, intercooler, trans cooler, plow frame, grille and lights all got destroyed... Trip edge is much better, its smoother, doesn't lose as much snow ad can trip in the v position. Great vids by the way subscribed
Alan Ackaway I almost have some shoes built for it so I am hoping that helps in all the dirt I plow on. It seems to chatter and jump a lot even on blacktop.
hey like the videos you have, im just starting to get in to plowing, just ought a 05 GMC 2500hd with a plow and trying to learn with it.. also what kind and size tires do you have on your truck? and are you happy with them?
I have BFG AT tires. They are 285/75/16. They have worked well for plowing. In snow no tire is going to be great and everybody has a different opinion on what tires work better. The BFG AT tires are very good all around tire imo.
+Trapdoor I have plowed with an 02 and 08 Silverado with the 6.0 gas and really there isn't much difference. Lots of power doesn't do much in snowy conditions when you get a lot of wheel spin. The biggest difference in plowing trucks I have seen is when I went from a 1500 to a 2500. The 2500 trucks handle plowing much better than a 1500.
Will the plow straighten out for you yet or lock into position unnoticed it's not totally straight what are you gonna do with your dads old Chevy the 90
I can get the plow straight. It just won't lock that way so I can run it in straight mode. The plow does lock so I can back drag. We had a water line freeze in the shop so I haven't been able to look it over. I want to see if I can sell the plow off the 90. Probably just keep the pickup until it rots away.
We just got a foot here I blew a line on my ez v stacking 2 nights ago I was pissed luckily there was a big bank and I rammed the plow up it popped the safety chain up a few links and limped her home second line in two winters I gotta zip tie them get them out of the way I gotta get mounts for my go pro I keep forgetting
I know it doesn't look that bad in the video but dad got stuck just trying to get onto the land. I had to pull him out and v my way in to get started plowing. Would've had to walk to the tractor if I didn't have the v plow. We have a machine to make hydraulic lines. I should make sure we have the right fittings and hose.
Still working on the bugs. We just had our water line freeze up in the shop so I have not been able to do some looking and testing on the wiring. I am going back to my idea on making my own shoe kit. Closest local dealer wanted $175 for the kit. I am not paying that. He wanted like $590 before tax on new cutting edges and shoe kit. I got on ebay and ordered the two main cutting edges. Saved about $40 from the dealer. Going to just weld on more steel to the center cutting edges. The guy at the closest dealer didn't even know that the Snowdogg v plows have a trip edge. I was like WHAT???? Will not be going back to him.
Love watching snow plows work that dually with the western works awesome mossman is a good driver he don’t run the shit out of his truck he’s good at plow ing good driver I’ve seen guys that couldn’t work a plough for shit but this man does a good job he must have ocd he don’t miss a spo if a little snow he goes back over it most guys wouldn’t give a shit that v plough sure works a lot better than the little plough you guys sure got a big spread to plough I was wondering why you keep that all ploughed out so it don’t get as much water in the spring ?.?
I have an 87- F 250 4×4 460 5speed with a basic (old) 8 ft Western. I don't plow for anyone but my family. I just bought some skids for the bottom of my plow I don't even have them on yet what do they do I'm brand new at this
The shoes just hold the blade up so it doesn't dig in the ground. Some people don't run any at all. Some will use them when the ground it not frozen yet. Shoe work good if you plow a lot of dirt. If you plow mostly hard surfaces you will get a better scrape without shoes.
I know some people think it is funny to fart on camera but I don't. I don't like it when people burp when doing videos. I think it is gross and really don't want to see or hear that when watching videos.
Danella Cullen sure as hell sounded like it I mean look at the old men plowing looking like a bunch of well sorry to say but disgusting old ass pervs anyways
LMAO I’m pretty sure it’s the windshield wipers chattering on a dry windshield. Camera is on the roof of the truck on the outside right above the windshield so you can’t see the wipers at the angle it’s at. A fart LOL
SuperDuckman24 I have some video of it. Look for 90 Chevy 2500 in my plowing playlist. It won't be plowing anymore. It's junk. My dually is and LB7 Duramax and so is my dads 04 2500HD.
Hard to beat plowing in a truck. I had a Polaris Ranger with a cab and heat. Had to sell it. I always wanted to get a plow for it. Just to have fun with little snow falls.
Great video. We have the best job in the world, in my opinion. Doesn't get much better. Do you let your operators listen to music while plowing? I crank the tunes when working, but I'm my own boss and hear most companies don't allow their guys music while moving snow? Also, I have a 9 foot heavy duty boss plow with a 1 ton. It's a straight blade, would you recommend wings? I hear it increases efficiency, but would you say worth the $1,200?
cockboy12 This is me and my dad plowing our land. I listen to music sometimes. Wings really do help when you have a straight blade. Are they worth $1200? I guess you have to decide that. My Western wings were $700. I thought that was bad. I personally wouldn't run a straight blade without wings. Not sure I would pay that much for a set.
no disrespect, but when I see how this V plow works, I'm happy to have a Power Plow from Blizzard.. also the straight blade.. I have a feeling that I plow much more snow in a shorter time than each of this two plows..not because of the speed they plow in the Video or anything, it's just about the plow it self..
Really surprised the cranberry company doesn't use their own trucks for plowing. They have the big dumps and I'm sure the rear ends will work for plowing plus a lot of state and county highway depts sell off older plows after so many years.....perfect for a private outfit to have 2 or 3 dumps set up for plowing. Is there THAT much of a difference in hiring you guys and doing it themselves?
That's our cranberry marsh. Once we get a shop and tractors there permanently I will probably setup a tractor with a plow. It's just too far away from our shop and the trucks are much easier to drive around. We have sometimes 4 different locations that we have to plow and they are spread out pretty good.
We keep planning to sand the beds but it never happens. Our excavator has been broken the last two winters. The beds also need to be flooded for winter so they are protected. Being able to get around the marsh without fighting the snow is another reason. Here is a sanding video from another cranberry marsh th-cam.com/video/0uQ4XD0IkAs/w-d-xo.html
Curse you! Now you've opened up a whole new line of interest for me! I'm from NW Iowa originally and now live in NW Indiana and am highly familiar with corn, beans, alfalfa, etc. but cranberries are new to me. Also have worked for a county highway dept between semesters and just finished a course to work as a part-time plow driver during snow emergencies(and little or no snow last winter, of course) during my retirement but this is new. Thanks for piquing my interst in something new!!!!
I have been plowing a long time in a pickup. We are farmers but a different kind of farmer. We have been trying to get our small cranberry marsh off the ground for awhile now. We are no experts with the cranberries but are trying to learn. The marsh in the video is a well oiled machine. They have all the man power, equipment and knowledge to get the job done. We are originally mossers. We harvest long fiber sphagnum moss. That we know all to well. My great grandpa started the mossing. Here is a video of the mossing if you are interested th-cam.com/video/gLxIgaxQ7WM/w-d-xo.html
Enough!!!!! LOL! I have to hit the rack now since I have a chemo session later on today(small-cell lung cancer from smoking mostly but possible exposure to Agent orange....) Now you've opened up 2 areas I know little about...! Thanks for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. Never hurts to expand your knowledge!
Yeah when you were pushing to the right it looks like the left wing is angled in a little you can move them manually right each side isn't awesome how that just throws snow right over the bank that bank looks like 5 feet high when you were winging it over
useless if we drive other people nuts when you have your left side of your plow angle backwards when you haven't already made one Pass snow is going on an area you already plowed on an angle
mossman381 hahaha what your dumb that's your dad ? The one you were complaining about farting in the video saying you wouldn't want to watch it is someone darted or burps lmfao you both need to learn how to plow there bud day to slow and time consuming process you have going on that or you just plow your own lots hopefully as people like you I would watch while I'm eating breakfast laughing like wtf are they doing plus that Chevy crew cab needs a real plow not one from bjs
I had to do this all day today. But it was parking lots with islands and curbs. I picked up some good pointers from your video, thanks for sharing it with us.
Love the tandem plowing! "Many plows make light work!"
Kevin Shea I
are you kidding me? they're tandem plowing BACKWARDS!
My friends think I am crazy but I like watching snow plowing videos on TH-cam. The only reason I am looking forward to Winter is new videos! Yours are great, have watched them all.
TheCurvyJones You are not alone. Lots of people enjoy watching people plow. I enjoy pushing the snow myself and watching others.
Great video! Like to hearing that big diesel working.
Thanks
Great Vid Thx 4 sharing. We don't get much snow in Phoenix so its actually pretty cool to see how it works.
Good thing we don't have to plow the heat here...lol
have fun!
+Brad Sutton If I didn't have a family business to help I would move to a warmer climate. I think Arizona would be a nice place to live.
Man, machine, and good old fashioned work.
To me plowing snow is like watching the waves on the beach
It can be addicting. Like watching flames in a campfire :)
Agreed, and I plow lol.
Slow and steady, nice. Don't understand why people try to plow too "hard" putting more where and tear on there rigs. Nice video man
Nick Whalen Thanks
Wow they look great everybody wins In this deal your dad gets his new old plow haha and that snow dogg looks unreal on the dually love the two trucks in same video
Yeah, I need a backup plow so figure this is the best option.
Dont get much better than that... two sweet chevy diesels plowing working hard. Plows look good on both trucks
Thanks
we just moved from an old western plow on an old 2000 chevy 2500 to a snowdogg on our 2015 chevy 2500hd, works like a charm
I'm favorite brand of truck CHEVY/ GMC ! I bought an all original 96 Chevy ext cab 4x4 short box with 350 vortex motor in it all original ! 🍺
I like the video because the way you plow and set up the video my dad has a 08 chevy duramax diesel with a 9ft ultra mount
Thanks
great setup ........looks like fun...
extreem02 Thanks
Like your videos Mossman. Keep em' Coming.
Thanks
I think the western looks better on your dad's truck it fits it better also your truck was kinda big for that plow and the snowdogg on your truck just looks beast! Keep the vids coming man!
Thanks, I agree
you keep your grill cover on while plowing? have you noticed any issues with higher temps?
Nothing like watching dulley at work.
Nice! Love both plows! What exactly are you plowing, are they dirt paths thought your moss fields?
Are you guys doing something useful or just playing in the snow ? The Western seems to roll the snow better.
We are plowing out our cranberry marsh.
With your V Snow dog. Have you worn out your cutting edges super fast due to inferior type steel used to make them like the Western V plow line up? dually needs to drop his right wing back & it won't dribble off the left side so much
just got yourself a new sub awesome set up
Thanks
Love the v plows
your dads truck is almost identical to my old one!
hey like the videos you have, im just starting to get in to plowing, just ought a 05 GMC 2500hd with a plow and trying to learn with it.. also what kind and size tires do you have on your truck? and are you happy with them?

What plow truck is in front of yours in the first shot
That is the old 90 Chevy. Truck and plow are pretty much done.
Do you guys prefer diesel trucks to plow over Gasoline? Diesels make more power and weigh more .. are there other reasons?
+Trapdoor I have plowed with an 02 and 08 Silverado with the 6.0 gas and really there isn't much difference. Lots of power doesn't do much in snowy conditions when you get a lot of wheel spin. and just for curiosity, about how much you try and make per plow per hour?
cockboy12 Most of what I plow is our own property. I enjoy plowing so I do a few paying jobs.
mossman381 awesome man! thanks for the tips!
Great video!
+Professor V Thanks
We just got a foot here I blew a line on my ez v stacking 2 nights ago I was pissed luckily there was a big bank and I rammed the plow up it popped the safety chain up a few links and limped her home second line in two winters I gotta zip tie them get them out of the way I gotta get mounts for my go pro I keep forgetting

I think he forgot to lock the 4 wheel drive in there
Very nice does ur dad have a cb radio?
No
That was cool 1!!!!!!
Ken Kun Thanks
He's going to run out of blinker fluid.
yeah everyone knows that chevys have the most efficient blinker fluid usage out of all the trucks on the market, baby's not running out any time soon.
the only thing this is missing is the little box that slides down the buffer with preview
again great video I just subscribed tonight what kind of dog is that you have I love dogs
That is Rusty. I was told Doberman mix.
Nice working together. Hows the plow doing mossman ? Did ya get the shoes?
Will not be going back to him.
mossman381
that is sad Cant even get good information any more nor buy any thing you need without breaking the bank.
My bank is pretty easy to break :) But yeah the price of things is getting out of hand.
mossman381
Pretty much
Love watching snow plows work that dually with the western works awesome mossman is a good driver he don’t run the shit out of his truck he’s good at plow ing good driver I’ve seen guys that couldn’t work a plough for shit but this man does a good job he must have ocd he don’t miss a spo if a little snow he goes back over it most guys wouldn’t give a shit that v plough sure works a lot better than the little plough you guys sure got a big spread to plough I was wondering why you keep that all ploughed out so it don’t get as much water in the spring ?.?
We plow this area so we can flood and sand the cranberries. Once it snows shut only a tractor can plow and that is very slow.
The videos are awesome. Can we get some more cab top video though. Thanks
Thanks, I thought I had more "roof cam" video but my camera shut off and I didn't know. I am sure I will get some more.
No problem just keep the videos coming.
I have an 87- F 250
4×4 460 5speed with a basic (old)
8 ft Western.
+mossman381 thank you, I'm new at this.
You will have to try it both ways to see how you like it.
Nice vid
Thanks
Was that a fart at 10:34??!? LOL
I know some people think it is funny to fart on camera but I don't. I don't like it when people burp when doing videos. I think it is gross and really don't want to see or hear that when watching videos.
Danella Cullen sure as hell sounded like it I mean look at the old men plowing looking like a bunch of well sorry to say but disgusting old ass pervs anyways
mossman381 it is your video so what are you talking about ?!
LMAO I’m pretty sure it’s the windshield wipers chattering on a dry windshield. Camera is on the roof of the truck on the outside right above the windshield so you can’t see the wipers at the angle it’s at. A fart LOL
Do guys ever use that plow 6:36?
That truck and plow have just about had it. I think it was used once this year.
mossman381 If you ever use it again, can you make a video of it, and are both you chevy trucks diesel

What's his antenna for on his truck then?
He has had one in his truck but never used it. I am not sure why he keeps the antenna on.
what kind of business do you guys own besides the cranberry thing? looks like you guys got a pretty big piece of property, you just mechanics?
+Mike Smith We harvest moss and cranberry. The cranberry land is about 100 acres.
+mossman381 nice, what part of wisconsin are you in? we got a place up north near eagle river
Mike Smith Cranberries are in the Black River area.
At your place how many plow trucks are their
We had my truck and a 90 Chevy 2500. The 90 Chevy hasn't run this year. Now I put my old plow on dads truck. So we have 2 reliable plow trucks.

Yeah when you were pushing to the right it looks like the left wing is angled in a little you can move them manually right each side isn't awesome how that just throws snow right over the bank that bank looks like 5 feet high when you were winging it over
That is the flared wings that make it look like it's not straight. Banks are getting high here.
Pops needs a leveling kit!!
Took a long time to get 285's on his truck. Probably just turn his T-bars up some.

I am so over explaining why I plow, how I plow and what I plow.
Schönes Video!
PS: furzen muß man auch mal, lacht!
useless if we drive other people nuts when you have your left side of your plow angle backwards when you haven't already made one Pass snow is going on an area you already plowed on an angle
Dad was running the plow and was his first time with a v plow. All your comments will now have to be approved by me. Sick of people like you.
mossman381 hahaha what your dumb that's your dad ? The one you were complaining about farting in the video saying you wouldn't want to watch it is someone darted or burps lmfao you both need to learn how to plow there bud day to slow and time consuming process you have going on that or you just plow your own lots hopefully as people like you I would watch while I'm eating breakfast laughing like wtf are they doing plus that Chevy crew cab needs a real plow not one from bjs
Did you eat some beans lol
10:40 two 10:50 i heard two farts.
No you didn't. I don't fart or burp in my videos because I think that is rude.

Shouldn't the left wing on the western be out not in?jw
The wings on the Western are fixed. They don't move.
