"I always found it was the best if you tell on yourself, because then they can't get you with it." This is so very true. I've only recently learned this, and how helpful it can be in social situations. People don't care about your embarrassing things, seriously, all they'll do is laugh and like you more.
What he said about telling the truth about yourself so others can’t “get you with it” is so accurate. I’ve said for years to others that no one can tell me anything about myself that I already don’t know and willing to say
Big fan of Jim Norton. Been listening to him on O&A (now O&J) for years now. Good for Jim to get a show on/with VICE and I've been enjoying it so far. Good for Bailey J on getting a gig with the show as well.
I'd say I'm like the average American when it comes to Jim Norton, I know who he is and I've seen some of his specials but I'm not vastly familiar with his work. That being said this is certainly one of the best interviews I've ever seen...great work, Vice.
Just realised, Joan died only a few months after this. I was far too old before it was explained to me what a big deal she is. I think people my age only really knew her as the lady with a lot of plastic surgery that did entertainment type stuff, unless they felt encouraged at some point to dig a little deeper. RIP Aunty Joan.
Jimmy rules! His Uncle Paul character... There's nobody darker and creepier than that guy. It takes talent to make F-ing kids funny. But Jimmy pulls it off.
vice, love all your stuff, this is one piece that inspires at least someone like me to remember be real and focus on yourself and wat you want in life , thanks- most of ur stuff is very inspiring and awesomely creative!
Can't wait for this show. He is so quick and very in the moment funny just watched him on a rerun of the Panel on Jeselnek Offensive. He is clever about his art as well, saw him on the Kevin Pollack chat show. He is also several decades sober.Which really means his true alcoholism shows shinning through. Meaning "everything is going to be terrible before you even start", repeating in your mind all the fucking second. Keeps him very, VERY SHARP.
When Little Yimmy was saying he knows people. Who desperately want to be funny. But they just arent a funny person. Was he talking about a co host of a show he was on at the time? Lol.
I hate to love the comparison but Jimmy Norton's life is like the kid from "My philosophy for a happy life | Sam Berns | TEDxMidAtlantic" from 4:33 to 5:04ish ... or sumpthin.
The interviewer is trying so hard to be funny when he's making that weird face. And you can tell Jimmy feels so bad for him that he almost look like he's gonna cry
You will watch this show and it will make you feel something with enough "oomf" to make you talk about it the next day with your friends - that's who Jim Norton is - love him or hate him - he's an interesting guy. I can't wait!
I always wanted to ask a (good) comedian-- is being funny like a switch or is it intuitive and something you innately have? Do you have to work at it like a craft or do you just 'have it'? Jimmy touches on it here but it's more about doing standup in a professional circle, but I think that's slightly different, it's actually more like acting then a question of personality.
My suspicion has always been you're either born funny or you're not. Once you're funny you still have to do the work to become a good stand up, and it might take you at least 10 yrs but you have to be born with funny DNA. Not all funny people should become stand ups though, they may become just comedy writers or actors, or even salesmen.
Never heard of him, but I will definitely check out his show. I like how he's authentic to himself. Haters gonna hate, but atleast they hate for who he truly is. Same goes for love.
Listen to him on the Opie and Anthony show.. It's probably the greatest show in the history of anything. There is like a million hours on you tube. Try the louis Ck ones first, those are the ones that usually get people hooked.
Great interview yimmie you're definitely one of the best ...you put everything into a microscope pick it apart and give an essay ..but its great all of it thanks for putting realness in a straight garbage butthurt world
Norton is a true dude. If you think he's a prick you really don't understand how the world works and that's not me just saying that because I love Jim. It's sad how judgmental people can be especially that people really focus on a celebrity's personal life so in depth. There is a difference between finding someone interesting because they're different than you and judging them because you don't do the same. Why can't anyone just judge themselves and find themselves equally as interesting? I mean we're what makes up the Universe and this is what we choose to argue on it's sad but it's truth.
I'm so glad for Jim Norton. The Make-A-Wish Foundation really is a fantastic organisation.
Make the most of it, Jim!
Jim Norton and Patrice O'Neal are two of the best comedians at explaining why they believe what they do. Love 'em both.
He's been great on O&A over the years
"I always found it was the best if you tell on yourself, because then they can't get you with it." This is so very true. I've only recently learned this, and how helpful it can be in social situations. People don't care about your embarrassing things, seriously, all they'll do is laugh and like you more.
It's good to see Jim's eyes finally sunk back into his head after all these years.
Nortons hands flying around all the time, you would think he was a goddamn karate master....

2:13 you can practically hear the only thought going through jims head "GREG OPIE HUGHES"
"thankyou for having me" lololol
Love Jim, always so witty and honest. Aslo quite funny as well. Great upload Vice.
What he said about telling the truth about yourself so others can’t “get you with it” is so accurate. I’ve said for years to others that no one can tell me anything about myself that I already don’t know and willing to say
Norton is brilliant and so is the interviewer, cool watch

Big fan of Jim Norton. Been listening to him on O&A (now O&J) for years now. Good for Jim to get a show on/with VICE and I've been enjoying it so far. Good for Bailey J on getting a gig with the show as well.
Whenever Jimmy talks about people who just aren't funny I no Opie has to be one of those people
Great interview. Very honest and down to earth. Thank you for sharing!

I'd say I'm like the average American when it comes to Jim Norton, I know who he is and I've seen some of his specials but I'm not vastly familiar with his work. That being said this is certainly one of the best interviews I've ever seen...great work, Vice.
Thanks for a great interview. Really enjoyed Chip Chipperson!

Love the tabs to jump ahead.
This was an extremely compelling conversation. I loved it
Jim looks fuckin zooted at the beginning.
homerun shinkle
Jim Norton is someone who I want him to be my bestest friend.
Jimmy rules! His Uncle Paul character... There's nobody darker and creepier than that guy. It takes talent to make F-ing kids funny. But Jimmy pulls it off.
I enjoy Jim for the most part but uncle Paul and Chip are two of the worst bits ever.
I don't think either have ever made me laugh once.
vice, love all your stuff, this is one piece that inspires at least someone like me to remember be real and focus on yourself and wat you want in life , thanks- most of ur stuff is very inspiring and awesomely creative!
FAWK YEAH
this dude is a great interviewer.
Thank you VICE.
Norton is great, one of the best comedians around.
Thanks for your HONESTY Jim.
He looks exhausted from trying not to excessively blink and twitch on camera.
I read some negative comments on his first teaser video and after watching this im much more excited about his show on vice :)

22:22 Was a total shot at Bob Kelly for taking those stupid pictures for his website.
2:14 Like Opie? Kidding, love the opester
please Vice, make more episodes of The Jim Norton Show!
Little Jimmy all growned up
Man what a great interview. Wish youtube had a double like feature you could use only 4 a month or something.
Love Jim. Never saw this interview. The guy doing it was great too.
who is the interviewer? he is great!
timmni
He says his name at the start, but it's some long Muslim last name, so I forget it.
Its the Year of JIM!!!!
Can't wait for this show. He is so quick and very in the moment funny just watched him on a rerun of the Panel on Jeselnek Offensive. He is clever about his art as well, saw him on the Kevin Pollack chat show.

I love my jeemee. I miss the opie and Anthony show. R.I.P Patrice O’Neal.
I hate all that snarky, gossiping bullshit. Respect real honesty. Norton is great.
I like Jim Norton he has a spark and is pretty interesting to listen to.
really down to earth guy.
rick moranis all he needs is a container of coffee and a hard days work
When Little Yimmy was saying he knows people. Who desperately want to be funny. But they just arent a funny person. Was he talking about a co host of a show he was on at the time? Lol.
proud of lil jimmy on the cusp of superstardom!!!
I hate to love the comparison but Jimmy Norton's life is like the kid from "My philosophy for a happy life | Sam Berns | TEDxMidAtlantic" from 4:33 to 5:04ish ... or sumpthin.
Awww jimmy , what a sweet boy
What a great interview
Brilliant interview on both sides.
The interviewer is trying so hard to be funny when he's making that weird face. And you can tell Jimmy feels so bad for him that he almost look like he's gonna cry
The interviewer is the person Jimmy is describing within the first 5 minutes of this interview
Or this is just the way he talks, trying to be funny near a comedian? you think he is that stupid.
You will watch this show and it will make you feel something with enough "oomf" to make you talk about it the next day with your friends - that's who Jim Norton is - love him or hate him - he's an interesting guy. I can't wait!
Upload his show to youtube. It wont let me stream to tv from vice.
This interviewer is so damn serious.
fucking awesome i love jim even when he's not funny
great interview

show sounds great...looking forward to it.
monster rain, so good I think one of his best.
Never heard of him, but I will definitely check out his show. I like how he's authentic to himself. Haters gonna hate, but atleast they hate for who he truly is. Same goes for love.

JIM NORTON, YES! Keep the thunder coming, Vice!
Amazing interviewer! Kudos
Lmao...I gotten everything I've wanted...that I'd be willing to work for. He sneaks it in I love it
Big fan of both of these guys
His show is going to be great.
I have to say, the guy whose name I don't know did great as the interviewer. There's a bit of Louis Theroux in him.
I have to point it out... that guy's head, is so shiny that i need sunglasses to watch this video
Aw little jimmy TSS tsss
this dude is fucking hilarious cant wait for this show!!!
Vice is shitting the bed so bad now..This guy is a great interviewer..
Great fucking interview.

this dude is a great interviewer
Love the realness Yimmy! Keep it up!
Nailed it little jimmy!
This is back when vice had courage....
They were bought by Disney & are now a propaganda machine
Jim is such a Boss
Hey people, tuna fish salad on toast with dill pickle lay's is a slam dunk on the palate scale. And milk.
Great interview yimmie you're definitely one of the best ...you put everything into a microscope pick it apart and give an essay ..but its great all of it thanks for putting realness in a straight garbage butthurt world
2:13 He is definitely talking about Opie.
Did you hire an investigator from Teds' Private Detective Emporium to figure that one out you silly goose you.
Doug Stanhope and Jim are holding it down.
What is the music playing during the title intro at 0:07?
Yes!! I've been hearing about this on the podcasts he's been circulating through lately. This is an excellent decision for Vice. Jim is incredible!!
I’m so glad that ‘dopey’ the 7th dwarf is still employed.
it's pretty funny how jim talks about how a good interview works and then the interviewer does the opposite
Host looked like he thought I would not believe he is a host. What? :D
2:15 hmm I wonder who he’s talking about
Leave it alone.
Jim looks like an 78 year old man the thumbnail

$50 he's talking about Opie at 2:13
