This is my favorite portrait editing program as long as you use it manually, not in any of the auto modes, and NOT with a heavy hand. If you go easy on just the sliders you actually need for a particular portrait. Very easy. I have an older version and would love to see more about this version from someone I trust like you. Thanks for posting this one at least. Love your channel.
Came to this video because i saw a big bundle of Anthropics software on the Humble Bundle website. Only 3 days left but seeing this video and the comments i'm going to get it. Thank you for explaining and showing the software Anthony :) 18.25 euro for PortraitPro 23 (guessing standard) 22 studio & 22 studio max. LandscapePro 3, 2 studio & 2 Studio Max and some other stuff
I just upgraded from Studio 19 to Studio 23. As many of you point out, you must take a delicate touch. Most often, the first thing I do is zero the face shape. A person's face is their face. Unless you have used a too-short lens, you will not distort the face, and in my experience, folks can tell when something seems off, even if it's very subtle. The main reason I use it is, I absolutely suck at trying to use skin-smoothing tools in LR or PS. I'm terrible. PP is subtle going in, and I usually let it work at defaults. It does a far better, smoother, more authentic job than I can do. I don't even do that many portraits, but boy, when I need it, I am glad I have it!
Thanks for this overview. I have been using Portrait Pro for many years and am now on version 22. Lately, I have not been using it unless I need to quickly touch up a portrait. Unlike the features in LR, PS and Neo, PP can quickly overdo an edit. I avoid face sculpting. The presets are nice. I tried changing the background. The tool for adjusting the edges worked extremely well. While I always want to have a recent edition, I believe that the cost to upgrade is too high for too few improvements between versions.
I have an older version on my iPad Pro and it’s stopped working. I’ve contacted anthropics but it’s almost impossible to get help from them. I also have portrait pro on my windows laptop but have never used it there, Ian’s don’t want to since I don’t use the laptop. use it exclusively on my iPad Pro. Do you know anything about the apple iPad version? I’ve never been able to upgrade from the original version I got for the iPad. I desperately need it.
@@tc7486 Dear TC, I’m sorry, but I have only used Portrait Pro on my Windows PC. I am surprised that Anthropics has not responded. In the past they replied quickly.
This I find a useful tool for fine adjustment of portraits. Important not to overdo the options, but same applies in any photo-editing program. Agree shaping tools least used, but relighting and skin-smoothing are useful. The old adage of trying to get the best possible image in-camera applies, but if one approaches this as the nuance of professioanl make up and a better lighting system than most amateurs have, then this adds to images in a way that needs more practice and effort in just Lightroom (I don't have PhotoShop). Seems many companies have since followed the approach and options of Anthropics Technology's Portrait Pro but this remains an inuitive program that has its niche role. Would love to see you discuss feture in detail , especially relighting or lighting fill-in.
Please cover this software in detail going forward. I have used this software for many years and find it extremely usefull for portraits if you use it judiciously. I don't think there is any other software on the market that can edit a portrait (or body shape with PortraitPro Body) with such detail or realism than this.
I have been using Portrait Pro since 2019. When I first got the software I was new to photography and was doing a lot of portraits. Thus I was not great with Photoshop.. now that I got over half a decade under my belt and I've won numerous awards. None of them War because of portrait pro. When you use Auto modes like someone already stated it is way too heavy-handed. If you go in and automatically clean up you can make people look nicer though. So if you do have an existing version it might be worth 75 or $79 if you do a lot of portraits. But you also need to remember if you're doing weddings and stuff like that you really need to add the cost into your work time. Because now you're doing retouches. I like to clean up my brides and stuff anyways or if I do a portrait of a female I like to clean up small blemishes and things like that and just make the skin look a little nicer. Maybe Akcent the catch light in the eyes that I created using my flash or strobe. It's those little subtle details that make your portraits stand out. And not look like a snapshot from a cell phone
I have use Portrait Pro either 8 or 9 and it worked very well for basic portrait touch up. Are all the new features in 22 or 23 worth the cost if my use would be minimal. I'm a retired photographer now and only do family and friends?? Any suggestions and your opinion would be appreciate!
I appreciate this video, thank you! I've been using Luminar AI for a few years and Neo for 1 year. I find these two getting buggier by the week. I thought I'd look into Portrait Pro but it seems overkill for what I need. Do you have preference between Portraitpro and Neo?
Thanks a lot for this awesome video, and for this biiig discovery , this is actually a big piece of software i tried it and actually baught it and would like some more videos on it
Absolutely worth it imo, I still use PS heavily but this is my go-to for portraits, my days of spending hours doing freq sep on a single portrait are done.
Hi Anthony, I'm getting color shifting issue in potraitpro studio 23 after importing the photo from potraitpro to Photoshop. I've changed the color profile in potraitpro but the issue is still there. Do you have any idea why is it happening?
For Volume headshots this works but i prefer the subtle retouch. For the Hair, capture one might works better manually. For skin, maybe SkinFiner works well but PortraitPro is better at some point.
This product seems like it's way more effective on casual/amateur photography, like photos you take of yourself and your family/friends. A model with perfect lighting, makeup and hair on a blank background seems like it would be the worst use case because most of what the program is used for has already been handled, and attempting to add on to it only will make it look fake and weird.
Its NOT well supported. Updates are essentially null with only one update. Some users claiming things were broke for Apple users after the update but no help from Support. Their Support Forum is essentially dead also. I have V23 but I don't think I will be upgrading to 24 whenever it comes out. It feels like customers are ghosted after purchase. A red flag for me.
I am satisfied with Portrait Pro 22, but I find Portrait Pro 23 lacking in significant improvements, at least for my needs. Therefore, I don't believe it's worth the upgrade for me.
I recently upgraded from portrait pro 12 to portrait pro 23 studio version mainly fir the hair removal and had the same problems as you did. Im glad its not just me... Otherwise I have found some of the nuances far too extreme verging on unrealistic. I was disappointed frankly. I prefer the subtlety of Portrait ON1 and use that pretty much exclusively if I want to fine tune an image. Recently you mentioned you wouldn't use the Face Thinning in Portrait ON1. I remember hearing that TV adds about 10 lbs to a person's face so I will invariably do that on female portraits especially. You also mentioned making adjustments for different eye sizes under the belief that this occurrence was due to the lens and maybe parallax error. I recently visited my optometrist to get new glasses and mentioned that. She said that it was not unusual for the eye sizes to be different for several reasons. Thank you Anthony I appreciate you doing this one.
I recently tried out Luminar's and ON1 portrait processing capabilities and found that some additional plugins, such as PP and Retouch4me, seem to offer even better results. I'm currently weighing the options between the two and considering which one would best suit my needs.
Stay away from this product. It takes 3-4 minutes to load from raw. Body Pro crashes every other time losing your work. This software is great when it works. For the price the software should be more stable. Look elsewhere.

Any program that can make my sister smile has to be worth the cash.

Yes, very worthwhile videos, thank you Anthony
I'd love to see more videos on it. This program has a lot of untapped potential.
Great training Anthony🙂
Very much appreciated Anthony for the informative video!

I have a previous version, but with your video it is not clear where the improvements have been made and therefore whether version 23 is worth it
I appreciate this video, thank you! I've been using Luminar AI for a few years and Neo for 1 year. I find these two getting buggier by the week. I thought I'd look into Portrait Pro but it seems overkill for what I need. Do you have preference between Portraitpro and Neo?
Well done!
This app is amazing. It literally turns my okayish portraits into art.
Yes…. Love this program

I want Portrait Pro 24 for iPad Pro 2024. The only version in the App Store is 19.
Hi Anthony,
I'm getting color shifting issue in potraitpro studio 23 after importing the photo from potraitpro to Photoshop. I've changed the color profile in potraitpro but the issue is still there. Do you have any idea why is it happening?
start by unchecking picture and lighting and coloring in the controls panel, that might be the problem
Does anyone know the latest build for this software? I'm on 23.1.2 and cannot find anything online. Thx!

If you do some basic cleanup and skin tones in photoshop, and use it with a light hand it is a great program
More tuts, please.

I haven't updated to PP for years. On1, Photoshop, Luminar are all so much better now. PP is old hat for me.
I recently tried out Luminar's and ON1 portrait processing capabilities and found that some additional plugins, such as PP and Retouch4me, seem to offer even better results. I'm currently weighing the options between the two and considering which one would best suit my needs.
I can't get luminar to do this especially the makeup and facial enhancements.
Doggie never like Portrait Pro find it useless. Because only enhance face, but body will look superficial to the face. Speaking from many experience
I suggest NOT buying. I admit to not knowing anything about the program but there are already to many photo- programs. That’s my suggestion.
