I was camped at Download Festival when this took off, just over the road from the runway, it was amazing to see and hear, and what's more amazing is the fact that something that big can fly!
That beast took off over the Download Festival ground (next door at Donington Track). The entire campsite just stopped and looked up in awe. Certainly an interesting way to start your day.
Before it takes off it looks like the fuselage is hanging onto it`s wings for dear life, yet when it takes to the air the wings level out, that has to be at least 1m of deflection, how does it do that...very impressive and thanks for the post.
I've never seen the An-225 live, but I did see an An-124 Ruslan taxiing for takeoff once (it was night and the spot I was at the airport terminal didn't allow me to see the takeoff itself). It was by far the noisiest plane I've seen. At taxi speed, the engines were louder than even an old jet like a 707 or a 737-200 at full takeoff power. It wasn't the usual jet roar either, it was a very sharp, high-pitched hiss. I can imagine that the Mriya is even worse in that respect, with its six huge engines.
+Goytá F. Villela Jr. If AN225 MRIJA is fully loaded it has weight 640 tons, so 6 engines work to take off all of that :) . And these engines are designed to get maximal thrust with minimal required compliance with international noise standards besides it these engines were originally designed to be used at military airfields and to use low quality fuel which could be easily found all over the world... and to work in climate conditions -65C to +45C, so it is very specific design :)
+Denis Oko, there are several categories or levels of noise defined in the regulations, and the fact that a plane fits one of them doesn't necessarily mean that it's acceptably quiet. The An-225 often needs special permission to operate in airports where planes with that level of noise aren't usually allowed, but the permission is often granted because there is usually a large local client in need of some urgent heavy cargo, and the local economy would otherwise suffer. Rachael herself commented in the video description how "extremely loud" the takeoff was. Remember that the An-225 was *not* originally designed to be a freighter plane - it was built to carry the Buran space shuttle on its back, and becoming a freighter was just a way to keep the plane in use after the Buran project was canceled. So, if the Progress engines can take virtually any fuel, that's an added bonus, but I doubt that it was part of the original specifications. By the way, those smoky engines would never meet any current international emissions standard either, but again, the An-225 is always a special case, and given that there is only one, that it doesn't fly much and lands infrequently in any airport except its Gostomel home base, that's not a big deal either.
Howdy! You always have amazing videos and spotting and the quality it is epitome. I really enjoy all Your videos, they are superb and crisp and very very professional. You are Excellent. I really enjoy Your Trains and Rails videos too, every videos You upload, I am watching it right away with anxiety and with an appreciative matter and not taken for granted, They are taken with Grace. Take care and be safe and Continue Your Superb Work and Dedication and Vocation. Au Revoir from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. P.S. That Aircraft the Antonov 225, It is the Dream alright, amazing that size of aircraft can fly like that, I am always in awe looking at the Mriya, She is absolute dream for me, she is my best aircraft with Airbus 340 and some others too.
@Train_PlaneHub - Just wondering if you could help me. A HUGE & NOISY plane flew over our bungalow in Derby back in 2014 but I have no idea what it was. Could it have possibly been the Antonov, it was at night around 10pm and it was dark, so that excludes summer time...
Where did you film that takeoff from please? Me and my 13 year old daughter always sit at Diseworth Road but if we could see take offs from the top of the runway the M1 end we'd love to know where we can watch and how we get to park there.
Something that huge you WOULD'VE thought it ends by crashing instead it ends by a 🥜 who's thinking he's God. PEWTIN 🤭 you won't never be forgotten. To the Ukraine families 🙏 ❤️ 🇺🇲

Had many memorable moments at Download festival and this flying over our tent was certainly one of them. Brought back memories watching this..

What an amazing aircraft .fantastic TH-cam videos I really enjoy watching them many thanks .
Wow Matt! Completely massive! That looks like an apartment block taking up to the sky! Awesome dude!
Oh my god! Can't comprehend that wing span! And I thought the A380 was massive!
It's double or triple the size of the a380
+Alex Peak Put it this was if the Antonov 225 was a passenger a/c it could carry 1500 people.
Alex, qué lindo video porque hemos visto cómo se levanta LIMPIO el avión más grande del mundo, es decir hemos visto el recorrido de punta a punta
😯Ohh my Lord
thundering Jesus😱!!!
What a beastly power!
Thank you.
I was camped near the end of the runway when I was at Download Festival and didn't know what the noise was until I seen it fly over my tent.
espetacular esse gigante, vou compartilhar no meu facebook

yes, AN225 is always welcome to home in Ukraine, even if it is noisy. Anyway it is really not so noisy when it is partially loaded

Is it just me or was that a short take-off...some serious lift generated using those wings ! Great video =)
It was quite a short take off
It was only going to France, so pretty light on fuel.

Is the aircrafts thrust always on full? Cause i dont hear any spool up? Or am i deaf? Great catch, this aircraft is huge! :D
Where did you film that takeoff from please? Me and my 13 year old daughter always sit at Diseworth Road but if we could see take offs from the top of the runway the M1 end we'd love to know where we can watch and how we get to park there.
Unfortunately this location no longer exists. It was flattened and a car park is now there
this giant can fly :O
Ace plane. Want it to land in MANCHESTER again
woke me up form my drunken download festival stupor that beast!!
Humans have 32 teeth, and this giant Antonov- 225 has 32 tires. At Least we have something in common.
What was the plane that took off just before this? Was also a big plane but had nothing on this beast, looks like a Hercules
C - 130 Hercules!😁
That is some amazing, awesome, phenomenal shit! Omg man! #amazingaircraft
Where is Toulouse?
If only I'd still been working there, looks like it was filmed from the other side of our offices
I like how the Saudi C-130 had to wait for its ass to get out the way before it took off.
Anyone know what cargo this beast brought in ? or took out ? Would be interesting to find out.
Realy BIG CARGO👍👁️🙉🥇❤️🤩😁😍🤗
Actual takeoff only starts at 5:42...lol
BIG THUMB.
RIP😔
Muito chique

Made in Ukraine!
Made in Ukraine! Super!
*Lie! in USSR!*
Better than watching porn
unfortunately now in 2024 this has been destroyed by Russian military
This footage is now historical as this plane was destroyed in the conflict in Ukraine.
Just incredible. It's like something out of Thunderbirds.
