no matter how many times i listen to purple, it gives me goosebumps, and tears of absolute joy. i can count on one hand the number of albums, in history, that make me feel this way. THANK YOU Baroness, from the bottom of my heart, and the heights of my soul.
I feel the same. I love these guys. They just seem so genuine. They are a little sloppy sometimes but that is what makes them so awesome. Please don’t take that as an insult. These guys are one of my favorite bands.
2:37 to 2:40, did anyone else hear "A Horse Called Golgotha" reference? I feel that there have been a couple musical phrases from songs on their other albums in Purple. Plus "Chlorine and Wine" having definite Pink Floyd moments in there.
amazing!! Climbing up the walls again A constant spinning wheel Though I've made the same mistake My love is never enough Spider-webs radiate Pale electric blue And I can feel the morning light Crashing down on you You'll take your time I'll take mine And I'll wait so... Patiently Drown my love in Kerosene And in the final hour Absence told my heart to wander Away Lost too long above the stars Heard the tether snap I got so high I'm satisfied I'm never coming back You'll take your time I'll take mine And I'll wait so... Patiently Drown my love in Kerosene And in the final hour Absence told my heart to wander Away When I am done I'll lay in the sun And when I am done I'll lay in the sun
+Melvin Slog “Mithrog” It sounds a lot more like Wanderlust from the Red Album era, but I definitely hear hints (or Hinds) of Mastodon in the first 10 seconds or so.
i am super fan of blue and red albums and the forst 2 (first and second). but even if more melodic and with cleaner vocals Baroness are always stunning. amazing music. amazing.
Beyond brilliant album. I love this song, Desperation Burns + Shock Me the most D: D: but at the same time every time I listen to this album it has to be from start to finish. Just total brilliance, all the way through. ilu Baroness

+Curly Toes I don't know, it's just a feeling. It's like hearing a band having real fun while playing, like it happened in "A night at the Opera"; and other Queen albums. You don't really know what to expect while hearing the album but you can be sure that it will be bright and energic."Death in two legs" or "the prophet" could be examples... but of course they are completely different...
Fine but... what this song is talking about ? Thanks... (i understand the words, but i'm not sure about the overall meaning, not a native english speaker).
Yeah the album mastering is really clicky, muddy and distorted. Too bad it ruins the good compositions on the album. It sounds okay on a cheap sound system, but on good headphones or on a quality system, it's pretty bad.
Nugget Lord They got the producer that did some Pixies albums, so the compression and fuzz is on purpose like a punk album. Still makes me torn on the album. The content is so good that I can get past the audio quality.
Man, I love Baroness, but I still can't listen to this record. It's seriously so overmodulated that it ruins the whole album. Gold & Grey as well. I don't know how they could listen to this and say "That's how we want to sound, like a robot taking a shit in a trashcan." C'mon guys (and gal)...
That chorus, that outro.
That's songwriting.
Green and yellow brought me here. The sound, the artwork, the emotion kept me here. Hope you guys get to make a whole box of crayons.

This is my favorite from the album so far.

New favorite Baroness song?
New favorite Baroness song.
+Graham Barth Couldn't agree more.
you and me both bro
2:37 to 2:40, did anyone else hear "A Horse Called Golgotha" reference?
I feel that there have been a couple musical phrases from songs on their other albums in Purple. Plus "Chlorine and Wine" having definite Pink Floyd moments in there.
Purple is my favorite colour. Also, I really, really like this tune. Great stuff!
amazing!!
Climbing up the walls again
A constant spinning wheel
Though I've made the same mistake
My love is never enough
Spider-webs radiate
Pale electric blue
And I can feel the morning light
Crashing down on you
You'll take your time
I'll take mine
And I'll wait so...
Patiently
Drown my love in Kerosene
And in the final hour
Absence told my heart to wander
Away
Lost too long above the stars
Heard the tether snap
I got so high I'm satisfied
I'm never coming back
You'll take your time
I'll take mine
And I'll wait so...
Patiently
Drown my love in Kerosene
And in the final hour
Absence told my heart to wander
Away
When I am done
I'll lay in the sun
And when I am done
I'll lay in the sun
brilliant chorus, wtf, some crazy harmony action going on there
Still 🤘🤘to this, 8 years later!
intro reminds me of Mastodon's Quintessence
+Melvin „Mithrog“ Slog The first thing that came to my mind.. This sounds like Mastodon, great! :)
***** I may be confusing those songs, I haven't heard Crack the Skye in over a year
+Melvin Slog “Mithrog” It sounds a lot more like Wanderlust from the Red Album era, but I definitely hear hints (or Hinds) of Mastodon in the first 10 seconds or so.
Interesting you say that! As soon as I heard this track, the intro reminded me of Mastodon's Siberian Divide off Blood Mountain. :)
+ledzeppelin345 bladecatcher mixed with Divinations
I've been listening almost exclusively to Baroness for the past year or so and I'm still amazed every time I hear one of their songs
i am super fan of blue and red albums and the forst 2 (first and second). but even if more melodic and with cleaner vocals Baroness are always stunning. amazing music. amazing.
2:42 that's why i love this song
you take your time and ill take mine.. what a great line!!!!
Beyond brilliant album. I love this song, Desperation Burns + Shock Me the most D: D: but at the same time every time I listen to this album it has to be from start to finish. Just total brilliance, all the way through. ilu Baroness

This song has been stuck in my head for 3 days and i can’t get it out
This Baroness reminds me of a Queen ;)
+Eduardo Portal interesting. Any particular song/album you are referring too?
+Curly Toes I don't know, it's just a feeling. It's like hearing a band having real fun while playing, like it happened in "A night at the Opera"; and other Queen albums. So if you guys have done red, blue, yellow, green and purple does that mean we're getting orange next???
We might get White. So then they can do Pink. Then they can do Magenta. They could do Orange next.
my money's on Pink
lol nope!
@HexagramMan good call haha
is this new ? just heard it on jersey radio awesome
2015
Mastoness... fucking amazing!
looking forward to Grey & Gold
Seriously, this band is so fuckin tight... that drummer is on a Neil Peart level. 🤘😎🤘
I don't know why but it kinda reminds me of Pokemon
But an extremely epic Pokemon
+Alec Reyes Don't talk shit about Baroness
+Leisure Muffin Don't talk shit about Pokemon
I can't unhear it. 2:16
mother fuck pokemon....stupid ass "cartoon"....
2:16 to 2:44, mmm.
The solo sounds so familiar, just can't quite put my finger on it
Pokemon
That chorus and outro tho.
Fine but... what this song is talking about ? Thanks... (i understand the words, but i'm not sure about the overall meaning, not a native english speaker).
Nick Jost FTW!
I hear some Rush influence in this one
deezer please! 😂😂
does anybody recognized the sound at th-cam.com/video/kFQpxWBznVs/w-d-xo.html ... is it you megaman???????
not a big black cover...
Sounds better on .75 speed
Is this the sound quality of the album or has it been degraded significantly? Sounds distorted and shitty. These loudness wars need to end!!
+tenplex Listened to the CD on a really good stereo system last night. Sounded perfect.

It sounds intentional. I like it, gives the sound warmth.
i feel this way about all of baroness recordings. it seems like ther not mixed well or somthing. I love the songs though.
Anyone else here because of Dr. Barnes?
kkj
