Do like the Kahler, although I've had a love-hate relationship with it since day-1. Right now, my favorite vibrato bridge is my American Standard Strat with Wilkinson locking saddles and locking tuners.
after having both floyd rose and kahler pro tremolos I can say without doubt the kahler is easier to tune, it stays in tune just as long and you can use different tunings (drop d for example). also you can change the gauge of your strings with every new set. Floyd rose in my opinion are just a pain in the ass to tune, albiet once they are in they stay in tune very well.
Nice vid. Got a 80's Charvell with the same pickup configuration as your custom setup with the "hot rails" at the neck/love it. Was eyin the ESP LTD JH-600 Hanneman model and was a little worried about the Kahler /being that ive only ever used FR's. Great info, thanks -Cheers
The only people who complain about Kahlers are people who don't bother or know how to take care of/maintain their guitars. I think you'll be quite alright with a new ESP!
I had one many years ago (30 or so years ago). I liked the feel and the look and that the string height never changed. But I kept breaking high E and B strings between where the roller saddle was and the fine tuners. The string was actually making contact with the metal between these two points. I have no idea if they have fixed this design issue on the more modern units.
I think I know what you mean though it hasn't happened to me. Probably due to extra low saddles causing the string to rub on the hex screw. Did you put the ball end in the holder flat or vertical? I have found that the best way is diagonal. This is so it can't shift around at any point. No breakages that way.
I owned an '85 Gibson XPL-V with factory installed Kahler 2300 series, and the Kahler trem was - by far - the best feature about that guitar. These trems do sound and stay in tune very well! Quite expensive though (I'm living in Holland) if you want to upgrade your axe... Currently building an all mahogany Explorer-based shape, and that will get an 80s Kahler 2320 (all brass!!) trem. Should be good fun 🤘😀
Nice one! You sound like you know how to treat a guitar well and how to setup and maintain. The people who complain about poor tuning always don't know what they're doing. At least that's what I've found.
Ive been playing on a Dime Razorback explosion for the last 10 years. Love playing with my whammy, i go through whammy bars like theres no tomorrow though lol. Gethcha-pull! Video request: I think it would be pretty awesome if you did a video Lesson on how to play you're backing track riff from redshift
They also function well without a locking nut and you don't have to cut the ball ends off the strings. Plus, unlike Floyd's, you can set the string spacing and individual saddle heights
So say I had a standard tuned guitar and wanted to just out of the blue drop the low e string and make it drop d can I do that without messing around with springs and intonation and all that?
Yeah I did precisely that tonight when recording. It's worth pointing out that changing the pitch of one string will cause the others to go out of tune as they automatically attempt to collectively compensate for the change in tension on the neck. This is more noticeable with a whammy bridge. With a Kahler you just rotate the fine tuning peg on the bridge counter-clockwise until you're tuned to drop D. Then go through and lower the rest of the five strings back into standard (as they will have sharpened in pitch slightly). Good question!
Hello. Yes, you can install it yourself. I did it as a teenager with a plunge router and no experience, but you should get someone to do it for you if unsure. There are some Deans, BC Richs, and ESP custom shops (if you are rich, haha) that you could consider
Cool video. I know there are two camps of trem users. Those that swear by Kahler and those that swear by Floyd’s. My first trem guitar had a Kahler installed on it and that”s what I learned on. But back around 1989 I switched to a Floyd and for some odd reason, I actually liked the little bit of fight it gave me. I know, that’s weird! But, I don’t fall into the Floyd only or Kahler only side. They both have their good points. I recently picked up a Kahler equipped guitar and it was just SO smooth!
Great vid! In 1987 I bought a 1986 USA-made (neck-through) BC Rich Bich-6, with a brass Kahler Flyer tremolo system. The Kahler is beautiful & seems to work fine for me, but I've never tried competing brands, so I can't really opine on pros or cons. Why do so many people complain about it? There's even a video out there titled "Kahler; the most hated bridge". What do you think?
@Alfred Potter Guitar Haha, yes. The guy who recorded that "hate Kahlers" video, even admits at the end, that he prefers the Kahler & doesn't understand why the FloydRose tremolo system is more popular.
I think because Kahlers are expensive pro equipment, and as such don't typically come stock on guitars these days, that young guitarists grow up playing with FR equipped guitars, and they develop an affinity for FR's for this reason. It's kinda like how I like android phones over iphones based on nothing other than the fact that my first smartphone was an android.
Yes but it's only small and only on the top of the guitar, so you don't have to disembowel the back like with FRs and attach hooks, springs etc. Far less wood being removed.
Always admired them, but never really needed a tremolo. Never like Floyd's and just picked up a used Kahler from fleabay (haven't received it yet). Question - does the tremolo bar screw in like a Fender or does it push in like various other tremolo systems? Thanks.
You can do flutters but the Kahlers operate on a cam system whereas Floyd's balance against two piblvot studs. Plus the springs aren't as long in Kahlers so it would be a slower flutter
@@AlfredPotterGuitar would the length of the bridge away from the neck affect performance of the bar, because I see that there is a lot of space further away from the neck, but thanks for answering though
The bridge rollers will always be a set distance from the nut as determined by the instrument's scale length. This is regardless of bridge brand. I am not sure I understand your question.
Right... been thinking about it... and I want Khaler. It looks and appears to be so much less of a pain in the ass to install or retiring. Does everyone get there Kahlers right from the sight?
Yeah man, good choice! Yes that's the place to get them. What gauge strings do you use? 9 and 10s will be fine for the default regular springs. anything thicker and you'll need to order the heavy duty spring set, too. Please mention me if you get a chance in the process =D
Is that an original Charvel Model 1? I've got a 1988 in black that is still in perfect condition. Damn near custom shop quality for a few hundred $$ back in the day. Nice vid!
If you keep the cam oiled (every few months) then it returns ro pitch every time. People who hate on Kahler don't seem to realise that you need to lubricate moving metal parts occasionally.
But now that I think about it would be handy to be able to lock it into dive only mode! The only control though is fully activated or completely locked.
There's no way of setting them for one way usage because they're only top routed meaning that you don't have rear access. Unless you can find a piece of timber big enough to place under the bridge when installing it. But you can lock them for restringing
I love tremolos but cant stand setup time for floyd, is this that hard for setup and maintenance also? That forced me to switch to prs style of tremolo without lockers and it stays in tune better than cheap floyd...
I don't have issues with my FR apart from strings sliding out of saddles, put brand new saddles thinking the old ones dented over time but it still happens.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar well every time I string them guitar the 2nd or 1st strings tend to break near the ball. It also happens when I bend them. I always have to ad some solder in order to prevent them from breaking. It’s a bit of a drag to have to do that every time I string the guitar and I really want to find a way to stop. I have a warlock with a kahler ex-trem. It’s patent pending
Fantastic pro equipment. I suppose the fact that each unit is quite pricey (hard to get guitar companies using), and the fact that Kahler isn't a common name anymore (as in their marketing and website need work) could explain it.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar Also when they first came out they had tuning issues with the locking nut being a retro fit behind a standard nut unlike the floyd system... Which begs the question... Why not just use a Kahler trem with a Floyd locking nut system?
@@ssisk87that is what we were told behind the nut locking nut has almost zero impact. Be careful with people sharing knowledge it doesn’t make it true just cus they said it. Paul Reed Smith doesn’t shut his pie hole on tonewood and it isn’t a thing on solid body guitars.
I have an 86 Jackson Soloist (USA) that I am refinishing. It originally come equipped with a Kahler. I picked it up in 96 and have been toting it around with me for 20+ years in it's case in hopes of one day fixing it up. So I'm at the point of needing a bridge, I was thinking of going with the Kahler fixed hardtail, I have plenty of FR equipped guitars. But I'm tempted to go with the tremelo version. My question is: Did your guitars have the locking nut or lock behind the nut? It looks as though this one had a string lock behind the nut. Which one would you recommend? It seems to me the behind the nut locking system would pose some potential issues. This Jackson was stripped of pickups and trem system when I picked it up, I've never played a Kahler, but they do look interesting. Thanks
Omg beautiful. Lucky man. Yes go with the modern kahler 2300. There is an added function on modern ones - a little hex nut you can turn to instantly transform it from a tremolo bridge to a fixed bridge and back again. Best of both worlds. If you do get one, mention me please! Hahah
They offer many types of string locks. Including a new design which I have which can be used as a regular nut too. It comes with string spacing cut into the steel.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar Thanks for the reply, I think you sold me on the hybrid model. Will definitely mention you to the Kahler people. Thanks and take care.
A bend on one string will always affect the pitch of the other strings - even with hardtail bridges. You just notice it more with tremolo bridges. Every time you bend a string, you increase the tension on the neck. This always affects the pitch of the other strings.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar Not necessarily true. On all popular vibrato designs yes, but mechanically it is possible to design the Cam so that when one string increases its tension from a bend, it's unable to move the cam and there fore unable to change the other strings' tensions! I'm just trying to figure out if Kahlers have the cam designed in that way.
Your delivery is strangely soothing. How well does the Kahler work on your custom guitar? Your saddles look really high which kind impairs the functioning of the Kahler. They're supposed to be quite low and they even sell parts to make them go lower if need be. The higher the saddle the greater the friction/pressure and the greater the chances of it going out of tune or the string breaking. The Kahler is murderous on strings. I accidently cut the E string when snipping the excess off (I was upset because it was an expensive NYXL D'Addario string). All I had on hand to replace it was a regular Ernie Ball Slinky (gauge 0.008). The guitar would not stay in tune. The string went flat on bends. Replacing it with a better E string ameliorated the issue. Does your custom guitar have a flat (not angled) headstock? I am convinced that the standard string lock Kahler makes just does not work on a flat headstock. I wanted to replace the string lock that came on my '85 Ibanez Proline with a Kahler one. No matter what position I put it in and whether I used the shim or not the thing would not lock down the low E string. I've give up decided to use the one that came stock (which actually does work), but now I have a bunch of holes in my headstock. The Kahler I installed works pretty though. It is just too bad I couldn't get the Kahler string lock to work. I am SOL for parts if the Ibanez one goes.
I made those early videos while still setting up the guitar properly. So the saddles have been lowered since but not because I had problems. I have never had problems with Kahler bridges so I can't relate to your in depth troubleshooting. Keeping the moving metal-on-metal parts of the bridge oiled and putting the ball ends in the sockets diagonally was all I ever did. And as I said, no problems. My headstock is slightly angled but not hardcore like a Jackson
@@AlfredPotterGuitar The angle of the headstock,if no pull down bar is fitted behind it, is very important for the nut lock to work properly. Too shallow and the pads will be unable to push the strings down with enough force to lock the strings. Therefore the angle Jackson use is right for the locking nut to work properly. It doesn't matter what bridge is used, if the locking nut doesn't work properly then the tuning will suffer.
Just a small question: How are tremolo flutters on this bridge? Like is it easy? hard? possible? I'm planning on getting the hybrid flat-mount tremolo, so I just wanted to know how it is for those stuff.
Hi Andy. The body is a model 2, and the neck is a model 3M. So, yes it is a real neck, however I sanded off the original black headstock paintjob (and white decal) in order to repaint it white and put a fake black decal on.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar gotcha. I’ve got an unbranded soloist guitar kit. I’m thinking of putting on the Charvel logo just so it stands out from my Ibanez and Jacksons
Ohh nice! Pls mention my name =D If I recall correctly they can also provide one. Make sure it's the template for the modern system and not the one from the 80s.
Definitely, I don’t abuse the Floyd a lot, I have a dean Razorback v, but I’ll definitely get a Kahler, and fill the cavity in. It’s every time I retune, I lock the strings in, then I gotta mess with the screws in the back and mess with the tuners after that, it’s chaos trying to keep it in tune
I have Kahler on my B.C. Rich KKVGT. Don't think it suits your description. I still can do some stuff with it, but it goes out of tune almost immediately.
That really is odd. I wouldn't've put one on my new custom guitar if I didn't love and trust them. I have never had tuning issues. Do you use high quality strings or just the cheapest the local guitar shop has? I hear that makes a difference.
I get a lot of Flyods on different guitars and only one kahler. I think the kahler was the best BUT a real Floyd is great too depends of taste (forget all the copy of course even the licenced ones).
my second guitar with my first trem is a kahler and yes i love it however two probs with a kahler 1 is once you get used to playing a kahler it really sucks to try to play a guitar with a FR and 2 is now on my third guitar i want a kahler and guitars with kahlers cost more than one with a FR by $300 to $400 more "bunk"!!!!!
It sucks that the kahler tremolo is overshadowed by the floyd trem system the only guitars/ basses that have a kahler on them is vintage/ custom built/ having someone installing it for you or buying a signature guitar/bass with a kahler I wish the kahler trem was still as popular as it was in the 80s/90s and I wish i could get a jackson guitar with a kahler
Yeah the fact that they stopped making bridges in the early 90s really left a vacuum - which FR happily filled. Kahler really needs to strike a deal with a prominent guitar manufacturer. I know the ESP custom shop offers them as a bridge option, but there are very few mainstream guitars which come with them stock standard. They really need an updated marketing strategy and website (they haven't even added me to their artists section). I wish them well and will continue to promote (and use!) them at every opportunity. They really are the world's finest bridges.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar yeah I bought a 1984 reissue original Floyd and I put it on my Jackson js32 dka guitar but when I installed it the block was way too big so I couldn't have it go up or down much and there would be one section on the fretboard which it would be in tune and another section which would not be tune it was a waste of money for me but I returned it and got a refund And I got a question can you install a flat mount kahler on a guitar with a hard tail bridge?
No idea. But I suggest you find someone who has routed + installed one before. In all honesty, you could do it yourself if you have even basic familiarity with powertools and woodworking. I've installed one perfectly and I'm an idiot hahah
I would use them, they are juit finer than the floyd system. just a pity you cant usually find one for about ~$200 US . Wish guitarfetish would come out with an affordable version?
Everyone says Floyd rose don't go out of tune... Do Kahler tremolo go out of tune compared to Floyd... Also,I find so many players using Floyd rose like Vai,Satriani,Ritchie Kotzen,Reb beach...And they had made a huge career with Floyd rose bridges..I don't know any guitarist using Kahler tremolo..I wanna hear their music..Please cite out some player... cheers
There was a gap between 1996 and 2006 where the bridges were no longer being produced and so they fell out of favour. If you look at most of the old 80s videos you'll see a lot of players using Kahlers. "Paul Gilbert Intense Rock" comes to mind. Besides the decade -long production gap, the price of pro equipment like a Kahler vs some mass produced Floyd is also likely to blame for Kahlers being rare these days. Guitar manufacturers can probably make more guitars for less money by installing Floyds. And so, more kids grow up playing Floyds and developing a taste for them. From there these kids just assume Floyds are best, based on nothing but exposure to Floyds.
Sorry I forgot to mention, I have never had any tuning problems on any of my Kahler equipped guitars. Quite the opposite tbh. Always in tune! Just set em up right and use quality strings and it's fine.
Kerry King has always used Kahlers, JH thought Floyd's sucked. The only time Kerry King used a Floyd was on a 7string Warlock he had built because of availability. Jerry Cantrell does as well but I don't know what model.
in 1988 I bought a Kahler bridge because Mustaine used one ... and I didn't have a guitar to put it on ... I wish I hadn't given it away to the other guitarist who played in the band ... Then I couldn't buy another Kahler here in Argentina
I think the killer is the best damn tremolo built. I have a Floyd Rose on a Schecter I have never liked Floyd's because they don't seem stiff enough to me and I'm always knocking it so it's more like a boinging bar LOL Peavey vortex 1 I had always stayed in tune with my kahler and everybody loved harmonics and dive bombs I got out of it. I may be building 10 to 20 custom guitars this winter that will be top-of-the-line I guess unless I'm missing something somebody needs to tell me on Floyd I think I would want to use all top quality Kahlers I need to check out some Floyd set up videos on here see if there's anybody that likes them or step in the mouth. I know you can really do some superior dives on them but my problem is I'm always knocking the damn thing with my hand throwing the tune out. But everybody has a different playing style I understand if other people have a great success they're playing with what they're used to. I seem to be used to keywords and also jumbo frets which that seems to be something to do with I'll take you right to grip the neck etc. for me it just seems like I can play easier and faster with that set up and I might switch the frets on Japanese explorer to the jumbo frets as well

@@AlfredPotterGuitar Gotcha, yep just always doing my research before "making the plunge". Great channel, got some really interesting things going on.
Do you know of any brands that sell kahlers on there guitars for a intermediate price 500-700
I am afraid not. It makes sense too, because the Kahler itself is a couple hundred dollars. Pro equipment isn't cheap.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar can I pair one with a Ibanez neck with a locking nut already on the neck
Try KDH's method of soldering the section where the ball ends are on each string (the spiral tail winds before the ball ends), maybe this will help?
I've never had any trouble at the ball end, I don't know what people's issue is
Dude what this is Badass
At least that's what I've found.
did you manage to finish your Explorer guitar with the Kahler?
Ive been playing on a Dime Razorback explosion for the last 10 years. Love playing with my whammy, i go through whammy bars like theres no tomorrow though lol. Gethcha-pull!
Video request: I think it would be pretty awesome if you did a video Lesson on how to play you're backing track riff from redshift
Thanks but it's pretty boring powerchord rhythms tbh! My next album will be a different story though ;) already coming up with interesting riffs
Nice looking bridge, but it looks like the D and G string are too close together. Any specific reason why?
Well spotted! I just hadn't set it up properly at that point. It is all perfect now.
I want you to narrate my life for a day
I’ve been thinking of getting one of these. Do you have to install them or are there some good guitars that already have it?
Hello. Yes, you can install it yourself. I did it as a teenager with a plunge router and no experience, but you should get someone to do it for you if unsure. There are some Deans, BC Richs, and ESP custom shops (if you are rich, haha) that you could consider
I love that signature guitar hope to see it’s measurements hahaha.. more power AP🤘🏻🤩🙌🏻
I'm building a guitar equiped for kahler ordered a 80s peavey guitar body routed out for a kahler just got to find a neck that will work
Loving the sound of this build. Good luck!
Is that the same style trem system fast Eddie used from motorhead?
Good video. Could you make a video about maintaining and changing strings on a kahler please?
This seems like pretty awesome stuff! Gonna check out some whammy action for sure :-)
Your voice is so smooth(no homo)
I've learned that the people who complain have no idea how to set up or maintain a guitar. The person who set up your BC Rich clearly did a fine job.
Do you have to rout out a cavity to accommodate the bridge?
Yes but it's only small and only on the top of the guitar, so you don't have to disembowel the back like with FRs and attach hooks, springs etc. Far less wood being removed.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar I have a wraparound bridge on my guitar. Could I still install a kahler into it?
Always admired them, but never really needed a tremolo. Never like Floyd's and just picked up a used Kahler from fleabay (haven't received it yet). Question - does the tremolo bar screw in like a Fender or does it push in like various other tremolo systems? Thanks.
Nice one. Yes it screws in
Is that true that only thing Kahler bridges can't really do is flurrs (slapping whammy bar for uber fast vibrato)?
Yes I suppose so
You can do uber flutters.
Haven't you heard kk downing flutter?
You can do flutters but the Kahlers operate on a cam system whereas Floyd's balance against two piblvot studs. Plus the springs aren't as long in Kahlers so it would be a slower flutter
Or a little manual effort. It's absolutely a different feel, and a different system than Floyd's.
Could you make a video on how to install a Kahler Bar to a Strat kit
I don't have knowledge of that procedure
@@AlfredPotterGuitar would the length of the bridge away from the neck affect performance of the bar, because I see that there is a lot of space further away from the neck, but thanks for answering though
The bridge rollers will always be a set distance from the nut as determined by the instrument's scale length. This is regardless of bridge brand. I am not sure I understand your question.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar ok thanks
Right... been thinking about it... and I want Khaler.
Nice vid!
Hi! Very nice. This is a restoration project from 2008. I got a Charvel model 2 body and a model 3M neck and got to work
Do you think its a good idea to have a kahler without a locking nut?
That is crazy, dude! Hahah no way.
Alfred Potter Guitar I think I actually saw a guitar like that or it was a floyd without nut im not shure
Is the kahler bridge able to be setup to dive only like the floyd? Can that fix the tuning issues?
If you keep the cam oiled (every few months) then it returns ro pitch every time. People who hate on Kahler don't seem to realise that you need to lubricate moving metal parts occasionally.
But now that I think about it would be handy to be able to lock it into dive only mode! The only control though is fully activated or completely locked.
maybe there is a way to block it with a piece of wood or something like on a floyd rose.
There's no way of setting them for one way usage because they're only top routed meaning that you don't have rear access. Unless you can find a piece of timber big enough to place under the bridge when installing it. But you can lock them for restringing
I love both the floyd and kahler, but I usually have a floyd because I can get them for half the price of a kahler.
Do you have to clip strings to restring?
Nope the circle ends just go into the holders in the bridge
It's recommended by some to solder the extra winding before the ball ends
Steel on steel is probably the best way to go for tone and longevity.
Yes, brass wears down so quickly.
I almost slept watching this video, that doesn't mean I was bored.
I love tremolos but cant stand setup time for floyd, is this that hard for setup and maintenance also? That forced me to switch to prs style of tremolo without lockers and it stays in tune better than cheap floyd...
It's a quick job to maintain and stringing up is as quick as a tune-o-matic
I don't have issues with my FR apart from strings sliding out of saddles, put brand new saddles thinking the old ones dented over time but it still happens.
Can I contact you? I have problems with the string ms while using this tremolo
What is the problem?
@@AlfredPotterGuitar well every time I string them guitar the 2nd or 1st strings tend to break near the ball. It also happens when I bend them. I always have to ad some solder in order to prevent them from breaking. It’s a bit of a drag to have to do that every time I string the guitar and I really want to find a way to stop.
I have a warlock with a kahler ex-trem. It’s patent pending

When you get 5 minutes from Kahler Company to prepare for a marketing video, without knowing anything about marketing.
Superior design, never understood why it didn’t become more popular. I have a hard tail guitar would love to add a Kahler to it.
Their marketing is terrible
The answer is Eddie Van Halen.
Better than the Wonderbar?
Wow, what an odd looking bridge it is!
@@AlfredPotterGuitar
Which one?
Wonderbar
@@AlfredPotterGuitar
Is the Wonderbar a direct Gibson SG bolt on or is there drilling required?
The noise gate on the audio kept making me think my sound had cut out.
Yeah I leave my coughs and splutters in now so it is all fine
But the Kahler is itself an unsightly rectangle.
It's a gorgeous neat square
@@AlfredPotterGuitar If you like it, it is good for you.
Does anybody know if the kahler system allows for bends on strings without altering the tension and pitch on other strings?
A bend on one string will always affect the pitch of the other strings - even with hardtail bridges. You just notice it more with tremolo bridges. Every time you bend a string, you increase the tension on the neck. This always affects the pitch of the other strings.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar Not necessarily true.
On all popular vibrato designs yes, but mechanically it is possible to design the Cam so that when one string increases its tension from a bend, it's unable to move the cam and there fore unable to change the other strings' tensions! I'm just trying to figure out if Kahlers have the cam designed in that way.
I have heard of one which does that. It is amazing but damn ugly haha
@@AlfredPotterGuitar do you happen to talk about a Stetsbar system?
Flutters can't be done. It is the only disadvantage to the Kahler as far as I know.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar ah damn it. Oh well. Thanks for the reply!
Yeah but don't discount the world's best trem bridge because it can't do a party trick =P
@@AlfredPotterGuitar Oh of course, I was always going to get the bridge, just was a little sad that ut cant do that little thing.
Is that a real Charvel neck or did you just paint on the logo?
Alfred, I'm buying a Khaler tremolo for my guitar project, do you no where I can find an accurate routing template for installation?
Ohh nice! Pls mention my name =D
If I recall correctly they can also provide one. Make sure it's the template for the modern system and not the one from the 80s.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar I appreciate it. Many thanks, I can't wait to order a steel on steel 🤗
I do also recommend their new locking nuts. Steel! And come with string spacing grooves.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar I've seen them, they look solidly built, definitely want a double locking system.
Cheers again. Can't go wrong with Khaler.
Love those Symphony X masks.
I’m seriously consider switching from a Floyd to a Kahler, mainly due to tuning and retuning issues
Yeah nice! Get a Kahler and have it and the guitar set up properly and it's a dream.
@@AlfredPotterGuitar , I have never had a tuning issue with my Kahler strat.
Upgraded it to the American made kahler and nut.
The question is… where can I get one for a humane price
Indeed, the drawback of pro equipment =(
I get a lot of Flyods on different guitars and only one kahler. I think the kahler was the best BUT a real Floyd is great too depends of taste (forget all the copy of course even the licenced ones).
This seems to be the truth. It's the quality of the bridge which makes the difference. Thanks for your input =)
Cool Ratt t-shirt Alfred.
And Loudness too!
pdf route?
Hello, what is the question?
@@AlfredPotterGuitar can I ask the PDF Route for the kahler tremolo system routing template? Its hard to find here in Indonesia
my second guitar with my first trem is a kahler and yes i love it however two probs with a kahler 1 is once you get used to playing a kahler it really sucks to try to play a guitar with a FR and 2 is now on my third guitar i want a kahler and guitars with kahlers cost more than one with a FR by $300 to $400 more "bunk"!!!!!
Hahah yes I imagine it's hard going back from pro equipment to mass produced cheap stuff =p
@@AlfredPotterGuitar yeah I bought a 1984 reissue original Floyd and I put it on my Jackson js32 dka guitar but when I installed it the block was way too big so I couldn't have it go up or down much and there would be one section on the fretboard which it would be in tune and another section which would not be tune it was a waste of money for me but I returned it and got a refund
And I got a question can you install a flat mount kahler on a guitar with a hard tail bridge?
You totally can, just remove the bridge, route the 1 inch deep cavity, and install the Kahler
@@AlfredPotterGuitar do you have an idea how much it would be to pay someone to do it?
Wish guitarfetish would come out with an affordable version?
dodge duck dip dive dodge

Jeff Hannemann always used them, Kerry King still does I believe.
I’m pretty sure Jerry Cantrell uses a Kahler.
Kerry King has always used Kahlers, JH thought Floyd's sucked. The only time Kerry King used a Floyd was on a 7string Warlock he had built because of availability. Jerry Cantrell does as well but I don't know what model.
Kickass!
in 1988 I bought a Kahler bridge because Mustaine used one ... and I didn't have a guitar to put it on ... I wish I hadn't given it away to the other guitarist who played in the band ... Then I couldn't buy another Kahler here in Argentina
Oh no! Do they not ship to Argentina? You can get them on ebay
two things
1- nice video, now i really want to try play a guitar with a Kahler Tremolo
2- 0:20 epic pic
Swapped out my Floyd for a Kahler and I'm never going back.
I seem to be used to keywords and also jumbo frets which that seems to be something to do with I'll take you right to grip the neck etc. for me it just seems like I can play easier and faster with that set up and I might switch the frets on Japanese explorer to the jumbo frets as well
But why do you have to whisper with your beautiful accent?
Hahaha
is that fuckin speed racer guitar?
Hahah I see the resemblance
The kahler tremolo is way better than the Floyd rose, no contest at all.
