Seeing Big Boy 4014 in a thumbnail for a video on the Union Pacific transcontinental main line and the video being produced by 7Idea Productions is definitely an attention getter. 🙂
I could watch your programs all day and never get bored (In fact I have done this...) Stunning scenery, great narration and historical information and overall just great content. Seeing a new one posted every Friday is a highlight of my week. Keep them coming!
@7idea Productions Aaron, I just found out that 4014 "Big Boy" will once again be going on tour this July, and will visit Utah, Nevada, and California as part of its "Four Corners" tour. Planning on going with my son as it's something he needs to experience in his lifetime.
Fun fact. Some cities filled complaints with Union Pacific, saying that the train's horns were too loud. The railroad went and installed an FRA approved horn testing location in North Platte Bailey Yard. To the complaints dismay the railroad found that their train horns were actually not loud enough to meet FRA regulations.
@@7ideaproductions also I know this is a big ask and don’t expect you to do this but may I please have a shoutout? I’m trying to grow out my channel so I can eventually turn out like you because I personally love your content!
1:34:32 Welcome to North Platte home of this The Largest Yard in The World itself Bailey Yard. The Heart of the UP Network and the center point of the Transcontinental Railroad all trains begin and end here. Every hour 10,000 cars drop down the two hump tracks into the bowl to feed the beast as RCL powered shunt diesels build the trains that will leave to every city in America and in Mexico and Canada. That's why Bailey Yard is important everything we use comes through here.
Today we go to Bailey Yard and watch as Big Boy makes his grand entrance. The rest of the coverage will be in the Kearney Sub and Marysville Sub programs.
Three mile long train. Amazing but I wonder if it really saves money overall. Time to set up and disassemble the manifest, unravelling if there's a derailment or wagon fault in transit etc etc Bit like the "Big Wing" debate in the RAF during the Battle of Britain.
There are small differences. Sometimes it's the cab shape or size. Sometimes it's a difference in the engine bay, like the cooling system on the top of the locomotive.

Thank you!
There's something about the Overland route in Nebraska that just feels right.

Excellent 🚂🔥
BIG BOY! Nice! Thank you!
Just FYI, at 35:20 that is NOT a doppler radar, it is a water tower.
Was about to say the same thing. Chappell doesn’t even have a radar tower.
Thanks for the correction! Was told it was.

Interesting video and trains. Good work. 👍
I like train videos on TH-cam 👍

At 18:11, that's an odd car carrying those red containers. It's one frame with a 2-axle truck in the middle.
those are articulated Trash Spine cars. they’re used a lot more commonly on Eastern roads but you can still catch some on the western roads
That tank car is sure wobbling at 24:35.
another Bad Order headed to the Bailey Yard Car Shop they will fix it and get it back out.
Great video! Cool seeing Dino’s in action lol! Do you recommend any spots in north platte???
You can't beat the Golden Spike Tower.

How many number of trains use the Sidney Subdivision

Are you doing more action of Big Boy 4014 this year in 2024 @7IdeaProduction?
The voice you use on your videos is the voice an Ai generated or is a lucky human ?
No artificial voice here. I worked in radio before I started producing these.
@@7ideaproductionswell Sir our good lord has given you a gift & I’m sure your in high demand for Narration Work
How can you tell the difference between the diesel engines they all look the same to me.??????????????
There are small differences. Sometimes it's the cab shape or size. Sometimes it's a difference in the engine bay, like the cooling system on the top of the locomotive.
The model number is also painted on the side of the locomotive.
ShoeString is gone……R.I.P.
Has his body been found?
@@kristoffermangilaYes it was found in the lake outside of his apartment.
@@blake_edwards darn... what a shame... well, heartmost condolences and prayers to Shoestring's family and pals.

There’s a reason why the state of Nebraska is shaped like a steam engine.
To me it looks like a giant meat cleaver lol
