Hi Rob, Very nice to see trains running and you did very well it takes time to do these type of videos what with the trains misbehaving as soon as the camera is pointed at them and then all the editing so again very well done. Cheers Robert.
I prefer the Collett Goods engine, more beautiful-looking than the Dean Goods any day in my book. There should be no drop-off in the middle, and only one engine is needed for this sort of thing. The whole goods train ought to go the whole way round, and then return empty. Nice running session. Goods trains do stop at a station or two to drop off some boxes, and have a change of footplate crew, sometimes. Happy steaming.
I don’t have a Collet Goods but the reason the Night Owl couldn’t complete the journey is because it’s impossible for it or any other loco to pass the full length of that section of track. DCC to DC you see there is a dead section in the middle longer than the longest loco I have, only rolling stock can be passed over. That said the Deans Goods is also DCC fitted but ran in DC mode for the film. It’s a model railway after all so a bit of imagination can be used and the more steam locomotives the better😉. I’m sure trains must have split at times in the past, it certainly happened from the diesel days.
