    I don’t mind to pay 500$ or more for a bag but seriously, we are talking about a kind of nylon with leather accents made in South Asia. Bellroy are making very nice mass manufactured stuff but this price is ridiculous for what it is.
    Edit: Thanks for your work (forgot the basic politeness...)

    I got this bag a week ago and to be honest, I'm still a little on the fence about keeping it or not. I haven't used it yet since we're all doing the #stayhome thing so maybe if I can't justify keeping it, I'll send it back to Bellroy. I really think this is a 'bag man's bag' from a company that really caters to the casual user- and if Bellroy is asking this kinda money for a product, at least make it seem worth it in the long run with stuff like a 5-10 year or even lifetime warranty since 3 years on a $400+ bag is no bueno for me. Again, I say that as a guy with a lot of Bellroy stuff but their prices have really been creeping up over the years (Apex, Designer's Edition stuff, Work Folio etc..) but they don't really have the pedigree or prestige to get away with it.

      Tony16610 hey mate . Awesome comment .. was just wondering how tall you are ? Chase didn’t try this bag on . Also , he kept putting the pin thingy in the flap in the last leather loop which made it look small ??

    • @Tony16610
      @Tony16610 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@OGtalks I am 5'9''/175.5cm and it fits me quite well. It does look a bit wide because of the flappy thing up top but otherwise it carries and feels like a smaller backpack. The space inside is a little odd since it is a little narrow/small at the bottom and then expands as you get higher in the bag around where the pockets are. I can't really comment on the bar being used on the upper loops but I don't see it working too well if you are loading this bag with enough stuff to warrant needing to move it that high.

    • @OGtalks
      @OGtalks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony16610 thanks for the reply . I’m 6”4 . I bought the classic plus from bellroy and it’s too small so I think this one will be the same .. I kinda like this bag . I think they should do 2 sizes . Like a 30L and a 24L . Bag companies are trying to make 1 bag that fits everyone but it doesn’t work like that . I kinda like what wNDRD did with the sizes but the PRVKE doesn’t look like it’d be as much fun to use as this bellroy joint . Thanks again ! 🙏🏼

    Chase . How come you didn’t try the bag on ? It looks small ? Is it the size of the classic plus or you think it’s bigger ? Are the straps larger than on the classic plus ? They look too close at the top ? Would of loved to of seen you put the latch in the top loop too .. a bag this expensive needed one of your mega in depth reviews . How do bellroy pencil case , tech kit , tech pouch work with this bag ? Are the pockets specifically made for other bellroy products ? How easy is to get to your water bottle ? Can you fit an iPod pro 11 where you had your book ? Does it have a chest strap ? What are those loop things on the straps ? Anyway . ✌🏼

Been day dreaming of travel and I’ve been all over your reviews deciding on a bag for the future. Have you ever seen the Thule Accent 28? It sounds all well and good when you talk it up, but when you start comparing it to the competition (even literally the Bellroy Classic Plus from the same company) you realise it should be more around $200 absolute maximum. This looks like a floppy version of the Everyday bag and almost twice as expensive. I am not sure I would like the flap hook at the front. Seems like it would be annoying hooking and unhooking. It needs magnets for that!!! You kind of lost me when you sad the handle has "reality" to it. lol. Actually strikes me as very similar to the Boundary Supply Errant in organization, but very different in aesthetic (and price, but that’s the 25-year-old in me talking). I can definitely see how someone with more money to spend and who wants this “look” would love this and be willing to pay extra for the craftsmanship, especially given that they’re looking to extend the warranty now.

  • @nathangriff6862
    @nathangriff6862 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for an interesting review. I'm not seeing a need for the Apex in my life but I appreciate the info. I have a Bellroy Shift backpack now and it reminds me a lot of this one. Maybe the Shift is just a little smaller? I'm not positive but I think I got mine for about 200 and I think its about 22 or 23 liters in size, maybe a little more. I never spent that much on a backpack before but its really nice, does the job, gets lots of compliments all the time, and it makes me feel good using it so I think the 200 is justified anyway. If the Apex does twice the job of the Shift, then maybe its worth the 400, too.
    By the way, I don't think you need to spend over $120 on a bag for a nice one. I know that was just an example you shared toward the end of the video but it isn't accurate in my experience. I have an Osprey Bitstream that I paid 60 bucks for on a Black Friday from Osprey and it is an exceptionally nice short trip (about 30 liters) travel backpack, day pack if you are carrying some extra stuff, and gym bag. I don't know if they intended it for that purpose or not but it has a huge top opening and plenty of organization and its comfy to wear. I find it excellent for the gym (if they ever open the doors again, that is). It also doesn't have all the hiking strap things that most Osprey packs have so it looks plenty nice for any environment, too.

      ssraj94 do you see this bag enough comfortable to be used on daily mountain trips? I am really thinking to get it. I like the pocket and access to main compartment. Worried a little about bright inner material where dirt can collect quickly

    • @ssraj94
      @ssraj94 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_krakra_ Yeah I think this is big enough to hold a lot of stuff. But honestly I don’t know if I can recommend it for rougher carries. For an urban commute? Definitely. But for a mountain trip the inner material will surely pick up a lot dirt (the outer material is pretty robust though)
      Maybe a more resilient bag like the Tom Bihn Synapse/Synik, Evergoods CPL or a Mystery Ranch Urban Assault might be better choices.

    • @_krakra_
      @_krakra_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ssraj94 thank you for your replay. Regarding a hiking and mountain use. I will not carry anything specific which can damage my interior. I just need my clothes, some food, water and some tool accessories.
      But it really is strange they use relatively strong exterior as mentioned in review and somehow delicate interior which is not strong enough to deal with different accessories might be carried.
      Is really that bad? I mean in that case bag really is not worth a money.

    • @ssraj94
      @ssraj94 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_krakra_ The interior can withstand tougher use-cases for sure, the material is a really a fine and mesh, which should be more than fire for the carry you mentioned. I'm more concerned about staining it like Chase did in the video :D
      The thing is I just have a hard time recommending such an expensive bag to anyone.
      If you have the option to try it and return it if you don't like it, I'd recommending giving it a try.

    • @_krakra_
      @_krakra_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ssraj94 the case is. It is expensive bag for sure. But i am looking for one bag which i can use; for office (if this will even happen), outdoor, and other daily use when i need to take my shit with me. And in a same way won’t look like outdoorsy, tactical, military like. So i think the balance on this bag is really good. And it have good access if you ask me from all fronts.
      So if i do calculations by getting rid off my current trakke outdoor bag, my current work bag and my current bag used for everything else then price point make sense for me. What is bugging me is only 3 year warranty, and potentially sensitive interior like also mentioned in video review.

    I love the interior design. Amazing. My only problem is that I don’t like the fancy look, I mean it’s beautiful, but I like to be more subtle when I’m traveling around. If they could make a version without leather on the outside.

    I've just received it... I'm very very disappointed... this bag looks like it has lived through the Apocalypse! The nylon and the color seem faded and washed out... there's a lot of marks, traces on the fabric. It looks like a refurb one !! Having such a bad impression when you just got a bag that costs so much… it is not very good... I'm going to give myself 24 hours to think about it but I think I'm going to send it back.

      Guillaume Mouillet : interesting. Do you have some photo to share?

    • @guiom2510
      @guiom2510 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@_krakra_ yes I've photo. I should make a video with it. You can see the same traces on the top of the bag on the video at 11:08. it 's very quick but with the light on the fabric, you can see them. And the real color is much more like the one when Chase is outside than the one when is inside (it seems sooo Blue, but now it's more a blue-grey).

    • @_krakra_

      Guillaume Mouillet : i think this is the character of baida nylon material. I have a feeling it will “break in” in a same way as waxed cotton does. I guess this is not discolouring but simply patina which this material will have over time when used. Maybe Chase can confirm this as well.

    • @_krakra_
      @_krakra_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guillaume Mouillet : this is what i got from Bellroy support:
      the answer from our production team is that while Baida does not have wax it does have an additional coating compared to our normal nylon which depends on use, can develop similar Patina as wax canvas. So yes, the patina you are seeing on your Apex is normal
