We never fight Taekwondo like that in the 60's in Viet-Nam. We need to see more kickings such as side kicks, thrust kicks, reverse kicks and flying kicks. I know, nowadays the new rules were applied to be safer during trainings. However, if it is a martial art then its extreme traditional technique must be kept to be comparable with other kind of martial arts. Swinging the legs just like a snake just try to hit some designated points to get scores, it makes this Taekwondo no longer be called "martial art". Taekwondo used to be one of deadly martial arts and I am so proud to be a Black Belt with 17 years in training. Let's make Taekwondo more exciting..... !!!
Agreed sir. The scoring system needs a rework in order to demand a wider display of techniques. Right now there is no incentive to use anything riskier than a side front leg push kick.

The rules of taekwondo today is much safer done the old days, so its much better this way. Aiming at winning but in a safer way.
Y'all keep complaining about how new taekondow is not as good as the old school but new taekondow is alot safer beacuse old school was alot violent as there were even deaths so of course they had to change some rules!! Also i find this fight pretty good, and trust me when i say that these kicks may look like nothing but they hurt as hell!!
dina m. What we are complaining about is that new Taekwondo isn’t practical, just standing with your hands down and chin up and kicking to score points does not help you to defend yourself. Sure, it is safer as a sport. But as a martial art, sport Taekwondo is no longer a deadly art like it once was.
@@ninthkaikan1544 NO ONE of the athletes competing would ever dare call it practcal or sth. It's a sport plain and simple like football, hockey, tracka nd field or fencing. So deal with it. There are ofc other side to the ART of TKD but this is SPORTs TKD.
Yeah a soild 45 kick could make your opponent bend over in pain. I remember our instructor would spank us with a stick if we did [bend over in pain] Those were the days 😂
@@ninthkaikan1544 there is a part where taekwondo will be called deadly. But in this case it is just a matter of winning points. This is the new school technique of taekwondo. As a matter of fact new school has also its advantages against oldschool techniques and vice versa. What are you going to do with your deadly taekwondo in just a sporty game like this one if you cant even hit a powerful kick just because the new school technique varies with speed.

Okay so there are a lot of comments about how old taekwando is better than the new style. In my opinion, I still respect it for what it is. Traditional taekwando looks like it really hurts and people don’t know how dangerous it could be. I do prefer to watch videos on the old style but it looks like it hurts way more to get hit. Can’t we just respect what we have for now and be happy these guys aren’t killing eachother with their kicks?

And as much as i agree, i also agree with the rules nowadays. My cousin died of a TaeKwondo kick after a brain damage in a competition match and no one even remembers him except a few friends and our family (I was gonna say Joe Rogan must have been the one, but that match was long before my cousin's match). So i believe there are others like him too and i want to know why no one mentions their deaths and no news in the past! It's a dangerous sport since it's only kicking and kicks are a lot stronger than punches!
Any kinds of martial arts are deadly and dangerous. But that is not a reason to make a irrelevant rules. Its a fighting sport. If you don't want to get hurt, just play a chess.

Nice fight. In the rules. Mistake as the Philipine was exausted on the pause, Vietman should have won but he was too smooth and could be harder.
Hmm looks like Mr. Hong still has some work to do at TKD headquarters to get TKD back to what it was. The recent rule changes seems to have little effect on the fighting style that is prevalent and ingrained today.
I like real Taekwondo not games, look like they are touching each other with feet rather than kicking. Not practical. I used to train TKD I love its flexibility and agility, but not its modern games.

Di na kasi manual scoring ngayon kaya sinasabi nyong boring .. patalinuhan na maglaro ngayon di tulad nung dati na habulan talaga ng points kaya sunod sunod ang sipa, sensor ang gamit ngayon eh dati pag tumunog yung armour mo score na.

Old Taekwondo was only based on Uninamous Wins. Modern Taekwondo prefers to score for winning which actually makes an athlete to be more soft when it comes into real fights 😅

I think its better this way. Its safer for the fighters and in a way the style has evolved. I believe it was score based before and these fighters have just made it more efficient to the sports scoring style.

Blue Benomm sports like football, basketball, and baseball have rules to keep the players safe. Its not purposely meant to be dangerous they are meant to be safe. Even in combat sports they have rules to keep their players safe. For example ( mma ) no low blows, no early knees, no eye pokes,no strikes to the back of the head or spine, and no biting. Even in fighting sports like boxing, mma, and muay thai they try to prevent as much injury as possible. At most you will walk away with a broken rib or you’ll be knocked out. There is no risk to life and thats what i consider safe

Taekwondo has rules that keep fighters safe as well (no groin strikes, no hits to grounded opponent, helmet, shin guards...) but all the electronic stuff is bull💩, this is supposed to be a combat sport not some kind of fencing 💩

You know guys, when tkd fighter one kicks you before you take your stance from the sitting position instead of scoring hits, you realize the difference between sport and real fight. Of course, they are not hitting at full power because they don't want to hurt each other

New taekwondo is just a more friendly version of its older version but that doesn't mean it's bad.
Neutral ako dito ha, pero alam nyo ba kung bakit nauso yang modern style na yan? HAHHAA Ibang nagcomment dito halatang mga baguhan lang. Hindi binago ang style ng tkd dahil trip lang nila or whatsoever. Dahil yan sa electronic armor... Dapat yung amount of force na kayang iexert ng legs mo ay equivalent din dapat sa weightclass mo... So yes, bawal sobrang hina, at bawal din sobrang lakas. Kaya nauso iyang cut kicks na yan eh para mas madaling makaiskor at para mas madaling makontrol mga sipa. Gets? So kahit ayaw mo sa technique na yan, no choice ka. Kaya nga balak baguhin ang armors, kasi honestly, pabagsak na ang tkd. Alam yan ng instructors. Mga nagmamarunong jan, sige ipaglaban nyo 🤣

Fr if you ever faced a opponent in sparring and your a high belt it will hurt and sometimes when we show a lot of emotion we will be punished by our coaches this teaches us how to handle pain properly
