I also did a big chop back in May. I know this comment is a year old but how long is your hair now? I’m only 5 months in and it’s about half an inch long
I'm a new subscriber. I will cut out the remaining relaxer from my hair on 2/28. I'm on a new healthy hair journey too. I'm glad I found your video. Thx so much! Looking forward to seeing what's coming next. I need all the help I can get. 👍👍👍
I did the big chop about 8 days ago. I’m using natural & Ayurvedic ingredients in my hair care treatments. I’m also really focused on keeping my hair moisturized.
@@MsCatrin no I big chopped a few years ago but had much more hair to work with at that time. My first big chop I was more in to styling than healthy hair. God did not give me styling skills lol, which is probably why I went back to being relaxed. This time around healthy hair is my focus and because of that I’m also learning my hair. I don’t think I have enough growth to know what my hair texture, curl pattern and density will be which is why I’ll stay content with treatments that help with healthy scalp & protein/moisture balance. I’m much more happier and confident this time around too.
Lovely hair looks very nice and healthy. I recently big chopped (after having locs for 11 years) due to hair thinning and possible hair loss. I'm in the stage of seeing what will agree with my hair...I'm only usingwater and oils to moisturize... Cream moisturizers are not working for me, they make my low porosity 4c hair feel stiff, tacky, wiry like straw... and its so frustrating 😫 Seeing a tricologist and dermatologist to address my scalp issues. Hoping I find products that works for me soon.
Sometimes it takes some time with a little trial and error before finding what works. There are days where I just use water and oil (jojoba, sweet almond, or grapeseed oil) as well and my hair feels just fine. I hope they find the source of your scalp issues soon. Thank you so much for watching and commenting 😊
Thank you for this! I did the Big Chop on April 21 and I really want to make sure I’m keeping my hair and scalp healthy. I’m afraid I’m not moisturizing it enough. I use coconut oil and Mielle’s avocado moisturizing hair milk. I think I MIGHT have low porosity hair as well. I do have a problem with frizz especially after showering. It’s like some straight hair sticking up. Does anyone have any advice about the frizz and the moisture stuff? Thank you! ❤️
@@MsCatrin - I'm using the Shea Moisture JBCO line. I like the Mane growth oil for my scalp. Still searching for something to give me lots of shine though.
I have been looking for this video! I’ve cut my hair three times just so I can get it right and this video helps and reassures me that I don’t need to be doing too much! Thank you💗🤩 One question, do you do this everyday? Or is it like a one time thing until wash day??🤔
hey Mscatrin, when i moisturise once a week, let alone daily, i get a lot of product buildup/white flakes within 5 days to which i then have to shampoo/deepcondition/moisturise again. does that sound normal to you ? during the week i have a spritz spray water bottle where ill use a few sprays on top to keep it hydrated, but the white flakes/dryhair/buildup is really annoying..
Sorry for the very late response. But if you're still having the issue with the white flakes, have you tried a clarifying wash? Full cleanse with either a clay wash or clarifying shampoo? I find that if my hair gets that way, I have too much build up that regular shampoo can't remove.
I'm a guy with the same amount of hair you have, am I supposed to wet my hair in the shower everyday? products build up in my hair really quickly so it makes me feel like shampooing every day lol
You don't have to shampoo everyday...you can just rinse the products out, and restart the moisturizing process...I did my big chop 5 days ago, and I have managed to keep my hair soft
My hair is only a little bit longer, but still in the twa fase. So i just wanna know. Do you do protective styling? Like flast twist. ... or do you leave your hair out? (:
I'm just getting into my protective style phase now. I am starting to flat twist my hair after wash day. I'm also planning to put my hair in braids very soon. I wish I started sooner but I just don't have the time. My hair needs to be put away now that it's longer.
I would just co-wash my hair after every work out and then moisturize. I would shampoo one to two times a week depending on the type of workouts I did and most definitely deep condition once a week.
Thank you for this video! I’ve tried it for it for the past 2 nights and I have been so pleased. I am fairly new to being natural/ doing it myself. I hated my hair looking like straw by nightfall. I’m trying to use up the products that I’ve invested in before buying more but it seems to be working. Looking forward to more helpful tips
I actually don't comb my hair. I may use a shampoo brush on a wash day depending on the product that I'm using, but the majority of the time I finger detangle. What's going on with your hair??
@@MsCatrin oh, wow that is perfect. I have a small afro, i cut it june 7th, its growing, but not as much as it should have, but i realized that i comb it too much and i started finger combing a few days ago
First, let me say that your hair is gorgeous! However, it looks like it is a bit uneven. I would go back over it with the clippers to ensure that it is even... I love short hair!
I NEEDED THIS!. AN ACTUAL “SHORT” HAIR VIDEO! Everytime I look up short I find short curls or short fros😭 thank you so much, new sub
My thoughts exactly
Thanks for this video
Sis same
Quick and to the point
Finally!!
Ditto. The short hair videos typically do not feature short hair. 😂
Thanks. I've been struggling to do my hair everyday without getting in the shower. This routine is a life saver. You're the best!
Thank you so much!! I'm glad my video helped.
Glad I found this video, I just had the big chop 7days ago and am on my way to seeing a healthy growth. You've got a new subbie
Thank you!! Let's grow together!!

Love how simple this is. We have the exact same routine except that I don't use a cream and I use a water-oil emulsion instead of straight up oil.
Finally found someone with my hair type omg! Thanks

Nkem is right. Just rinse out the products and restart the process. Just a quick rinse should do it.
@@Goddess_Nkem Thank you :)
@@MsCatrin Thank you :) how often should I shampoo and is a deep condition necessary?
@@therealist2000once a week is your answer you should shampoo and deep conditioner you hair once a week
This was great 👍
Thank you so much!
Will you be keeping your hair short or new journey to healthy length?
As much as I love my short hair, I'm on a new journey to a healthy length 😊
New subbie!!!! Thank you so much
Did you spray your hair with warm water?
Yes, sorry I didnt mention it 😑
Am i still low porosity if using water to wet my hair leaves it chronically dry once the water dries, the oil just sitting on top of my hair

What about at night?
So should I only add oil when I feel necessary or do that everyday
When you feel it's necessary. I would recommend applying a light layer so you don't overdo it.
That was an awesome 👏 your very pretty!!
Thank you so much!!
Great job but I just need to get a closer look at the name of the product you used.
Check out the description box 😊 Thank you for watching!
What’s the instrumental
What do you do for night routine
I just wrap my hair at night with my satin scarf. If I feel like it's dry, then I may spray my hair with a little water before wrapping my hair.
How woulld you take care of it if you workout every day?
I would just co-wash my hair after every work out and then moisturize. I would shampoo one to two times a week depending on the type of workouts I did and most definitely deep condition once a week.
Do you do this daily or every couple of days?
I try to do it daily but if not every other day. My hair gets really dry so it has to be done often.

How many times a day?
I typically moisturize once a day. If I feel like my hair is dry, then I'll moisturize again.
Whats that creeking sound?
Probably my lens focusing
Ik I’m kinda late but can I use olive oil spray for oil
Sure. I don't see why not. As long as it's pure olive oil to be safe.
