Completely different John, like he came out of a different world, very fitting for Sgt Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour
It was at this party where Paul met Linda. Sad to think three months later their host of this party Brian would be dead.
This was their second meeting-the first had been at the Bag O' Nails club, in Kingly Street.

Perhaps the last period when all were really together as a band and happy to be so. Just over the horizon was the tragic death of Brian Epstein and.....Ono! Makes these photos all the more precious. Thank you.
Shows how things are fragile and balancing on a tightrope and how in an instant things can change forever.

The Beatles were in a heated competition with Beach Boys genius Brian Wilson who earlier released the Pop Masterpiece "Pet Sounds" album...Paul urged the Beatles to come up with a concept to match "Pet Sounds"..notice on "Good Morning" the Beatles saturated the ending with heavy dog barking...Brian Wilson used this on the "Pet Sounds" album at the end...but sparingly...the Beatles not only equalled "Pet" but surpassed it...leaving Brian Wilson in a deep depression and abandoning his equally superb "Smile" album for decades...✌🏻
After hearing SPLHCBand, Brian saída: “It’s no use! They’re always one step ahead!”

I believe they had already met at the Bag O' Nails club Paul frequented.
They met on May 15, 1967 and this was May 19.

I remember John once saying in an interview that two of us were ‘ flying’ ( tripping) the day these Sgt Pepper photos were taken.. . Obviously John was , not certain which other Beatle had indulged. .
From these pictures it looks like Paul to me haha
@@ericcook7036 Eric, John looks like he is totally ‘ flying’ . I think Paul would have treated the Sgt Pepper launch as a work situation and would have wanted to stay in control. I have a hunch that George was John’s flying buddy Then again,, I think these photos were taken at Brian Epstein’s house . Could Brian be the mystery flyer?
@@lthompson7625 Most likely it was George. Brian was on official duty that day, especially as he was the host, so most likely he wouldn't have been tripping.

We're all familiar with this launch ( and it was certainly covered from every conceivable angle by a thousand photos ) but did anyone film it with what was known then as a cine camera ? It would be nice to see a few minutes of footage and not just the photos. Elena ?

Why isn't Ringo allowed to touch the album?
I strongly believe John was tripping during this event. There are other photos from it, with color close ups showing off his very dilated pupils. Plus, he's got a lot of spacey expressions and seems to be giggling a lot.
There is one "traitor" .. Without the permission of the Beatles clan, Paul was not allowed to shave his mustache Hahah! Great era is "Pepper" era!!

This was held on May 19th. The album was released on June 1st. Why the thirteen day delay ? Seems a long time. Unless the actual record hadn't been pressed yet and they were just displaying the cover for it as the promotion ?

George and Ringo seem to be wearing a button on their jacket that looks like a yellow submarine. John wears one too, on his sporran. The song is from 1966, the film from 1968. I wonder what these buttons are, was the film already in the works?

It’s funny George Harrison says he was impressed with the album he was getting a pool put in his house
He wasn’t impressed in the Sergeant Pepper album so he really showed up to play he was busy putting a pool in his backyard

At 3:25, I wonder if that handshake between Lennon and McCartney was genuine or just a photo op.
It’s genuine John. They were like a band of brothers. I think the new ‘ Let lt Be ‘ film will show that despite what multitudes of books all say,, they were buddies until the end . Didn’t someone , (one of the production team , l think?) start having a go at George during the making of the anthology . Paul stepped in and told the non- Beatle to button it. “ Hey, he’s a Beatle , you’re not , shut it! “ apparently was how McCartney brought the exchange to an end. Mick Jagger could not believe how strongly the Beatles operated as a team. They gave each other strength.
@@lthompson7625 Where did this exchange take place? I don’t remember seeing it on the Anthology program. Yeah, you’re right about Jagger. He used to call them the four-headed monster!
@@johnharrison9685 John, it wasn’t shown in the anthology. Don’t think it has ever been shown . Perhaps it wasn’t even filmed? I will have a search in the memory bank , but Paul might have talked about it himself in a television programme about ELO’s Geoff Lyne. That comes to mind. Could have been during that programme? I’ve got a NME magazine of Lennon interviews somewhere and John is quoted as saying something like “ People think lm the tough, nasty, mouthy one in the group. Make no mistake , Paul can be just as cutting as me”.
@@lthompson7625 well it wouldn’t surprise me that Paul would defend his “little brother” George. He loved him like a brother, I remember seeing Paul on some documentary about George describing George as his little brother.
@@johnharrison9685 John, from reports , Paul was with him until near the end. On a different theme, there’s a brief interview with George that l watched recently on TH-cam . I think it was recorded during that silly period when John had been advised to keep it quiet that he was married. It might not go down well with their fan base and all that. It shows the humour( probably honesty as well of George) .lnterviewer : “ George , you have got a lot of female fans. What type of girls do you fancy? “ George , without a seconds hesitation, replied “ John’s wife!”
