I was a student of Christopher's father, Freddy Martin, in my high school years. I remember when Christopher was born. He'd get dressed up in a mini version of our marching band uniform and join us in the bandroom sometimes. He was our little mascot. I am thrilled to see that he's doing so well. Such a talented young man who comes from a musical family.
The best all-trumpet performance of this arrangement I've heard out of three or four. Of course it's to be expected when the soloist doubling as a quartet also is principal trumpeter for the NY Phil. One might well call this performance truly historic!
The microphrasing though... just an unparalleled quality of musicianship. I come back to this recording and a few others once in a while for inspiration. It's incredible!
Fantastic! What a treat! Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to make this. P.S. - l loved the way you distinguished your avatars by changing t-shirts.
Out of curiosity, how many tracks were involved in making this video? This is exactly the caliber of musicianship Mr. Martin has become known for. Students of the trumpet should really pay attention to his consistency of articulation throughout the instruments range. Bravo!
Well, all I can say is, it doesn’t get any better than that! May I ask, what did you use as a continuous track in your ears to maintain a constant tempo?
Maestro, hay una pequeña errata en el cuarto pulso del compás 7. La nota E no es bemol, sino natural. En cualquier caso, enhorabuena por el gran trabajo. Un saludo.
Is Chris playing a new Bach 190 in this video? First Bach Bb vs. Yamaha Zeno I've seen him play in a while. Those 190's are some of the nicest playing/sounding Strads in years. Thanks Tedd Waggoner for solidifying Bach Stradivarious as a true standard with the 190's before retiring.
@@benwilson5729 haha, for sure! I just doubled trumpet in my college band for a concert cycle (they needed a trumpet player and I can double it) and it was a good mix of big egos and lots of talent and practice (and one particular person not being able to double tongue ;))!
@@ericdaniel323 no, but my favourite orchestral players have more projection in high notes at high volumes, they stand easily over a full large orchestra! but I like them less in Chamber playing (Batallan for example)... I think he has an elegance and variety of tone that would be Ideal in Chamber playing. Sorry about my english.

When you can't find three other musicians as good as yourself...
Like ur just like Nah, i will spend another 5hr doing this myself and editing it all together than finding people
I’m sure the other NY Phil trumpets are all very qualified.
@@tromboneman4517 he was just making a joke obviously they’re qualified 💀
Trombones are always a beat behind the trumpets

Reminds me of the Canadian Brass version. Spectacular!
I can’t believe I went to high school with this amazing musician. What a gift to say I played in band with him and knew him when. Just brilliant.
The lip trill...beautiful execution going in and out of it
When I was growing up they told me it was bad to play with yourself. They never heard THIS guy!
Christopher is such an amazing musician. Just beautiful! Thank you NYPHIL!
Fantastic! What a treat! Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to make this.

What a glorious presentation! Bach just fills me up.
Chris (if you read this..), you killed that. Just beautiful.
Awesome, thanks for sharing your skill, Christopher. Beautiful playing!
This guy never ceases to amaze me.
Wow, his phrasing is just incredible!!
Beautiful
A beautiful performance. What a gifted musician !
Exquisite tone Christopher!!
Excellent! The tuning was impeccable.
When you know all four parts.....and no one else sounds as good as you

4 tracks!
Fabulous! I was upset before I saw this and it just made me remember the beauty of the world. Thanks!
Bravo Chris! Great sound! And I thought you only played the First Part!🙄 Man everything was spot on perfect!
Amazing
Hi. I think that there is a wrong note in the 4 beat of the seven bar. I think it would be a E natural, instead of a E flat. Sorry if am wrong.
What fun! Fantastic!! Thank you for adding a little delight to the day.
Yes!!!! Very much enjoyed that.
Awesome. Chicago was blessed to have you, come back and visit, please!
Beautiful!
Perfection!❤️
Bravo, Chris!
Nice job! Really love this video. Also sounds really nice.
Beautiful explosion of emotions!
Sublime!

Nothing sounds like a Bach 👌

I love this. Absolutely fantastic.
Thanx Manny, that was mesmerizing. ❤️🐾🕊🦋
Spectacular! What a terrific idea!
Nice decorative posthorn
Bravo! Just gorgeous!

He’s playing a Bach 25 large bore. He has been using this horn more recently
Absolutely amazing!
Spectacular playing!!!
Fantastic
Beautiful, exquisite playing, now in f minor on the Bb trumpet choice. Hard to imagine better playing, and better music for that matter.
Bravissimo Christopher!!!
Awesome!!!!
This sounds really neat in F minor wow
This is wonderful
Tremendous!
The clarity of trumpet makes it sound better than any pipe organ piece I have ever heard. Excellent precision on part of the artist.
Awesome
Super!!!!!!!!!
This is just so excellent!
Bravo ...
wow! wonderful!
well that's just brilliant
applaude!
Lovely sound! noice
Bach's Little Fugue in F minor ... C trumpet must have been in the repair shop lol. Amazing Performance!!!
Sounds so great!
That's cool.
That's the way to do it !!!!!
Bravo!!!!!
Could I get the sheet music?
Brilliant - beautifully played and recorded. Could you share the equipment used in the recording?
Looks like a Bach trumpet to me. I’d like to know about the booth.
@@ericdaniel323 yes, I agree, a Bach. But I meant to ask about the microphone, etc.
@@chrisc102 I figured. Strange you got a like from the channel but no info 🤷♂️
Well done!
Wow. What make/model trumpet is he sounding??
This is great. Would you be willing to share what kind of microphone you used to record?
fantastic!! :)
Impressive
how long have you been playing?
Is that a new Bach 190? You'd sound great on anything
Is there a tip jar for these musicians? I just read about one Met Opera member who recently had to sell his 19th century bow to pay his mortgage.
Yes the poor NYP players have had to accept base pay which is approx. $2500 per week!
@@matts9064 Leaving aside the snarky tone, do you know if this is also true for theMet Opera musician?
@@matts9064 You clearly have no idea how much it costs to live in NYC.
Do any of you remember Louis Davidson?
I’m a low brass player, and I still love to listen to stuff like this! Us low brassers can learn more from trumpet than we give them credit for.
Yes, but don't give us *actual* credit please, because our heads are big enough already :)

Bravo! 4 jobs well done!
ya man
Handsome dude!
And no arguing over who has the principal part!
you should play the hornet theme song with all the chromatics and stuff. Those are really cool
👍✌
Chris tell Freddy HI.
In the 18th second it sounds different from Canadian Brass . Another tone.
He has such a chamber player's sound... Wonderful... I'm asking why he doesn't dedicate himself 100% to chamber music...
His orchestral sound is no so bad either…

Robert Garrison
Docked points for making it look too easy! However, if this guy keeps practicing, he may get to play with his local community band someday. 🤣
its just straight. no flavor. its like bland food.
Your comment has no flavor, this video right here is 100/100.
Beautiful!
Bravo!
