What a despisable character. She ditches the guy, then comes back and bothers him when he moved on, and pressures the dude to cheat. Are we supposed to like her or root for her to survive? The only thing that could have saved this movie is if she got eaten by a shark at the end because of some decision she made involving a total lack of personal accountability.

So the director of this movie expected us to sympathize and root for a main character that plays with a guys emotions, entices him to cheat, and consistently bails on him because she's afraid of commitment and would rather toy with him as a friend-with-benefits type of situation? I'm all for strong female characters and characters with sympathetic flaws, but this character is not only weak and twisted minded but also has flaws that are borderline unforgivable.

You're right. It's a Gippsland Airvan, similar to a Caravan. As of 2016 there weren't any APs certified for it.
Terrible ATC advice. Small plane like that, you absolutely have better chances crash-landing in the water than you do entering a storm.
A controlled crash into the water where you've at least bled off as much speed as possible at the lowest altitude possible... while it may not be a happy ending for the airplane, you will probably have at least a 95% chance of surviving the impact with the water and having just enough time to grab whatever emergency supplies you hopefully have on board before exiting the sinking plane.
Flying a small aircraft into a thunderstorm... The things I learned in training for a private license over 10 years ago would give someone nightmares about what those storms can do to you. You are not a 747 airliner (it's definitely not an ideal situation even for them) so the ease with which your plane can be thrown either upward or downward like a wad of paper is insane.

I haven't flown a plane since around 2012 or so, but this is absolutely the kind of movie I could only stand watching if throughout it I could point out to someone each time I noticed a huge thing they got wrong about how airplanes work.

I saw this film just tell you now they didn't crash their plane they deliberately tried to land it thinking what they saw was an island but they were mistaken it turned out to be one of those sand flats or a mound that would soon be underwater

The invisible barrier this movie establishes between altitudes where humans can breathe and function just fine, and this "layer" where they suddenly they can't is weirdly reminiscent of how some people think there's a certain altitude where gravity just "stops".
Yeah. Anything up to 10k feet the average person will be fine, probably get a headache after a few hours. At 15k ft altitude sickness will start to properly set in, and quickly, but it's not like you lose consciousness within 10 seconds. That doesn't happen until 35k ft where you literally have a minute before passing out.
