    Hello
May I know if these locking systems can be made for rotary cutter blades. As the videos demonstrate only with gripper end effectors.

what prevents the air piston from 'retracting' (retract = unlock, extend = lock) if the robot stops with the tool upside down from the 2:21 view? after such retraction, if the robot then moves to a position where gravity is pulling the EOAT down, would the tool changer then be unlocked? (in this scenario, the robot is moving DURING a loss-of-air-pressure event).
Could you add a spring w/in the system so the pneumatic actuation is "normally extended"? It would only need to be strong enough to prevent gravity from retacting the piston.

Hi! Tell me please in which software you create 3D animation for theese video?

      Hi Dmitry,
The animation was created using a combination of 3DS Max and Maya.

    niiiiiiiiice
    this is coool.
I wonder what advantages this has over what 3dprinters do for tool changing (1 steel balls and 2 dowel pins for each of the 3 coupling points, and just a rotating twist lock to pull them closer together) I'm assuming it'd be hard to design one of those for high loads.
i'm just a gawl interested in engineering not a professional or anything xD I'm temped to study mechanical engineering now for college

what keeps the ball bearings from falling out?

The male coupling of an ATI Tool Changer is designed with a retention feature to ensure the locking balls do not fall out when locked. The position of the piston prevents the locking balls from falling out when in the unlocked position. For more information please email SalesAdmin@ati-ia.com.
