    I've looked at a lot of cabins over the years, but yours Martin, would be hard to beat for dimensions that "sit right", (width to height ratio looks really good) and it also blends so well into the surrounding landscape, hence its most excellent picturesque setting !

    Did you replace your fridge yet. If not , an educated guess would be that it is vapour locked . This is worth trying . With fridge disconnected try rolling it over a two day period . First on one side for 12 hrs then upside down then other side and right side up 12hr each . This has fixed many of these units . I have also had customers place one in a truck and by the time it shook all the way to me it worked fine. Love your vids, have a place similar to yours north of Kingston Ontario Canada and when I can't get out there your videos are next best thing Robin.

      The trails I walk are old settler roads and winter logging roads. One trails ends eight miles from the cabin so every year I try walk them and cut away the fallen trees so I can enjoy them.

  • @Nortekj
    @Nortekj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Concerning the camper refrigerator, does the pilot keep going out as soon as you release the push knob? If so, it is the thermo-coupling that has gone bad. It will be the unit that is just above where the pilot flame is and looks like the blanked off end of a small pipe tube and has a small copper pipe that goes back to the gas control valve and the entire length is approx. a foot long. A new one can be purchased at most RV dealers and isn't too expensive about 20 dollars at the most. That part is what usually goes bad on those refrigerators as they have a totally and permanently sealed refrigerant system. Just stumbled onto your channel tonight and have already watched the series about your cabin, Great videos and I enjoyed them very much.

    • @TheNorthwoodsman1
      @TheNorthwoodsman1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nortekj My pilot light is OK but during one stay the unit slowly lost its cooling capacity. I suspect the freon had a slow leak as it took several days for the cooling to cease entirely. Not sure if can be fixed. New or used are so expensive that I brought it home to find out if it can be restored.

    • @Nortekj
      @Nortekj 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheNorthwoodsman1 It can be repaired if the system isn't too far gone but it will most likely cost more than finding another one that came out of a camper or motor home. I would check on Craigslist.com in your area to see if anyone close has one listed or you could put in an ad yourself in trying to locate one nearby. Hope this will help somewhat.

    • @TheNorthwoodsman1
      @TheNorthwoodsman1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nortekj In my area camper fridges are in short supply. On Craigslist many are seeking one so the prices are at least $350 for an old used one. I think adapting by canning some venison and chicken will be my solution.

    You should install a ram pump from your spring. Uses no power and will run forever as long as you have a water supply. Easy to disable in the winter. Tons of videos on you tube on the subject.

    Martin you have mentioned that the old timers said they drove all over that country. What changed?

    • @TheNorthwoodsman1
      @TheNorthwoodsman1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have heard of the dust bowl days of the 1930's and that was the time period when they could drive all over. They did not have four wheel drive either. Another change is there were no beavers at that time so all the water flowed away. Now the beavers have all the flowages blocked so the low spots may be holding water all year.
