- Loud engine knock when my bike is cold. It quiets down a bit when it warms up. While riding I can still hear a fast tick/knock. Bike has 322 miles on it. I just dropped it off at the dealer. Im sure they are gonna say this is normal blah blah but atleast it's documented. The noise is impossible to hear on cheap speakers or a cell phone speaker.
Mine started to do that. I got a video posted up on here where it sounds pretty horrible lol. Mainly because the bike hadn't been cranked up for a good week cause they was taking their time getting to the bike. Which I wasn't mad about that. But yeah it started making a nasty sound. They told me to do away with that automatic tensor and go with a manual tensor.

You must have missed the comments above. Problem solved. Cam chain tensioner sucks on these bikes. 93 Octane fuel only in my rides brah! Bike is noise free and running like a champ.

Glad you got it figured out and it wasn't something bad in the motor.
Can you link the solution? My bike makes the same noise and I want to see how to get it fixed.
Is problem or demage the engin to ride with this sound ?
Same noise on mine...timing Chain tensioner is the problem....
My 07 did that put I put vp 108 it stoped that the knock

Just got the bike back from the dealer, they said they all make this noise, unfortunately on the way home the noise seemed to have gotten louder. I just have to keep riding it until something breaks I guess.
Did you ever get to the bottom of the problem mate ? Mines just started doing exactly the same noise

Cam chain tensioner. Very common for Kawasaki’s. Honestly I’d be worried more of a Kawi didn’t tick lol! But seriously it’s nothing to worry about unless it gets obnoxiously loud, then you can adjust it yourself very easily but usually it automatically adjusts.
I posted about this on Kawasaki ZX-10R.net. A lot of people have the same issue. It is the cam chain tensioner. Simple fix too. The link is in the description to the problem and resolution.
Strange. Mine don't done knock like that even when its cold. What type of fuel you running in that bike? Running low octane will cause that.
Its a kawi.. They make that noise. A lot of it is clutch chatter they just are like that.
Jordan Harris thats complete bull crap thats the oem cct that come in this bikes get the ape manual cct like i did problem solved
