  • In 1996, a year before Doris (Tidrick) Quinn died, she agreed to tell her life story as part of a video oral history. One story was how a bicycle saved her life when she was just nine years old. In the depths of the Great Depression, her father realized that the little girl might fight the deadly osteomyelitis infection if it meant she could ride the beautiful new bike he scrounged up the money to buy. This is one of many stories she told -- stories that would have died with her had it not been for that oral history interview. Even though she's gone, she can still talk to her yet-unborn great-great-grandchildren and to their great-grandchildren as well. It's a gift that's priceless. donray@donray.com
