  • Stop wasting your valuable time trying to perfect your golf swing. You'll seldom be able to use it on the course where every shot is different. Instead, work on your golf skills--your ability to use the tool in every condition you might find your golf ball. Stay tuned till the end to see some serious variation in great players' actions. What really matters will be covered in ensuing videos.

Excellent analysis of the Golf Swing Mr. Dunigan! I really like your theory of "Shift, Turn, and Lift!" I'm still using your recommendation of "pushing the butt end of the club down with your left hand and pulling the club up with the right" sequence on the backswing and reversing the process on the downswing! I also agree with you that a golf swing is a individual thing! Good Job Mr. Dunnigan! Always learning from your videos on golf skills1

Dr. Kwon is a master at helping the golfer with shift-turn-lift. John, you are very correct that golf shots and golf skills are two different animals. Learning and PRACTICING golf shots is key, however you need proper impact first. Great video sir. Thank you!

    Evening JD,
Great vid. Thank you. I get the principle of practicing golf skills - center faced contact; face/path control etc and not golf mechanics, but are G you saying that the single 'body motion' fundamental ( beside the stable swing platform), is the shift -turn - lift or SHURN movement??
If I had a magic wand, I would wave it so that coach JD produced a video series in three parts (1) Developing the basic SHURN motion within individual limits (2) Developing the basic skills required to hit golf shots using the SHURN motion (3) How to systematically learn elements (1) and (2)
Now that would be something to focus our average golfing minds.
Regards from the other side of the world - Durban, South Africa

Is there any possibility you could a video on hitting shots from different slopes. The setup/adjustments/feels etc ?
So much of playing golf is non linear as it when practicing on indoor mats and driving ranges. Thanks again JD. Oh yea..and you're very good looking.

John, I’ve recently found your channel and really getting a lot from it. I am a low single digit handicap golfer and really struggle with a strong grip and pulling through impact and not releasing in the classic left arm supinated position. I don’t get that free wheeling whip through impact p, even though I have very good length for a 72 year old. Hit my shock 7 iron 160, carry my driver 230. I’ve fought this for many, many years. I load up, shift, turn and have a low point very consistent well ahead of the ball (when on the ground). PLEASE HELP!!!

@@JohnDunigan move consistently from right to left (I’m a right handed golfer) so I can pick a target on the right side of the fairway and effectively have the entire fairway to hit. The basically straight ball flight not knowing which way it could move eliminates that.

Positional golf instruction destroys the interest in many a golfer. Trying to mimic a tour pro is not what a beginner needs. There are so many body shapes, sizes, swings and athletic ability and maybe there is a swing for each of them and you see many of them on Tour. It’s a crime to see a golfer standing up to a ball frozen from his toes to his ear lobes with tension trying to remember what the six or seven positions his instructor told him he must follow in order to hit the ball.

@@JohnDunigan yes, I agree if a golfer can execute a tension free swing and swing through to the finish without fixating on the ball and finishing on the lead foot/leg. Works for me at 75 years old. 👍🇨🇦👨‍🦳

Huh? I'm still waiting for the revelation, the nugget of golf knowledge to propel me to the next level from your instruction, but I must have missed the reason why the swing and skills are not interconnected and essential to play well. Then there's the shift-turn-and whatever nonsense that is still a golf swing. Nothing here of consequence, just some nice SWINGS at the end.

20 handicapper, 68 years young: playing golf the last two weeks with golfers elbow. My shift-turn-lift sequence is more like wobble my feet-throw arms at ball-find it-whack it again. Ugly, just ugly. Watching you videos on set up.
