This scene helped pull me out of darkness i had lost my father to cancer i was a drunk living alone with my demons and in a drunkin stuper one night this exact scene happen to me. Me and my lady soon got pregnant i quit drinking for him. Watching this scene again right now bust me out into tears i had to and hug my son and tell him i love him he just turned 14 and to this day i still dont drink. Hes my life......

Arthur and i could have continued to drink ourselves to death because we didnt have anything we cared about more than being drunk and living it up everyday. You can view my son i posted vid of him at the beach. Hopson (my father) was right he is beautiful and way worth living for hes my life......

I should imagine nobody is going to read or even notice my comment, but I really like this film, and this scene. It has been panned and laughed at by many, and forgotten by most. But I enjoy the film, and this scene, very much.

Certainly not as good as the original, but it has its moments and I enjoy it, as well

If you look at that scene from a recovery standpoint, it's chilling.

It's not easy for Arthur to get the right words out. "I really miss you, old man. So much it hurts."

  • @deanfranz

"I've told him all about you, Arthur ... but he wants to meet you all the same."
    LOL, Hobson giving a back-handed compliment 😆

Oh wow! I've watched this scene a thousand times and I never thought of it like that. In spite of Arthur's faults, his son still wanted to meet him. I've always thought that Hobson meant "Arthur, I've told your son about you but just hearing about you wasn't enough. He wants to meet you face to face." But your explanation sounds exactly like something that Hobson would say! "Arthur, you're a lazy drunken slouch. But your son wants to meet you anyway!"

When he says “Oh man, you’re not playing fair.” Moore’s delivery of the line has so much heart.

Arthur 2 had less than desirable moments, but this scene, this heartfelt scene, makes it all worthwhile.

He was great. Now he truly had a "Wonderful Economy of Words".
There should be a law. That bans
      Perfect movies from being "Rebooted"
They take a 4 Star movie like Arthur and turn it into a 1 Star movie starring Russell Brand.
I have no problem with Russell Brand. But even he said that he regretted doing the Arthur Reboot.
They took a masterpiece and ruined it.

    Arthur: Look at me Hobson.
    Hobson: No Thank You.
Arthur: You can get this out right?
Hobson: I'm not on Salary anymore Arthur. You're on your own.
😂 The 2 of them together was priceless.

Good God, I Loved the 2 Arthur movies with Dudley Moore.
Every Arthur and Hobson scene were the best.
I'll never forget Hobson in part 1. Arthur says this is Gloria.
    Gloria says "Hi" to Hobson.
Hobson replied "It's Wonderful to meet You. You have a wonderful Economy of words. I look forward to Your next Syllable."
That Wonderful Economy of Words line I always use. Just to tease some people.

I wish I could have spoken like Hobson as it is such a beautiful accent, I would have loved to have been a butler myself but my Welsh accent would let me down which is such a shame because I would get on with anyone I meet because I don't pretend to be someone that I am not and if there was any butler scholarship I would gladly take it. I love this movie very much and it will always be a personal favourite

This movie is just plain sad. Dudley Moore's career was in a serious slide from which he'd not recover from. The only good thing about A2 was seeing the old cast back together again.

Glad they at least had this scene, but the movie as a whole was hurt without John Gielgud’s presence. And I love Paul Benedict, but he couldn’t help carry the movie the way Gielgud did. Wish they had not killed him off at the end of the first film

@@Southernguitar74 what don’t you like about it? Forget my comment. I admire that the drunk Arthur came to a realisation that there was more to life than being in a homeless shelter and didn’t we all love Hobson, what a gentleman 🌹

    • @marwatson7408
      @marwatson7408 ปีที่แล้ว

@@nitakate10 I think it more than that, he wanted his family back and realized Hobson was right and he needed to grow up and stop his drinking and at the end of the movie he stood up to Burt Johnson when no one else did Susan realized Arthur didn’t love her but I think she respected Arthur for what he did , Burt was the one who manipulated his family to cut Arthur off from the money. She in turn manipulated her father and blackmailed him if he didn’t Arthur what he wanted.
