It wasn't going to special gun it was just a special bullet. Batman took the bullet The Darkside used to shoot Orion and kill them to shoot Darkseid with it. And the thing is Darkseid set himself up for this because he shot or Orion from near the end of time from right before the reboot. And because he shot the bullet through time Batman was able to recover it and use it on him
