    One of my favorite things about watching rap fans react to Bulls on Parade, is seeing the realization that, not only is Zach a rapper, but he might be one of the best they’ve ever heard.

    Band from the MTV awards. I love it when people become awake and open their eyes I too became a fan along time ago.

    This song is about the military industrial complex. ALL of Rage’s songs are political. They’ve got mad knowledge to drop.
    The music is rock, but Zack is an MC, BARZ!!!!!!

    After 9 11 there was a ban on individual songs by a bunch of artists... there was a full ban on all rage against the machines along with the individual songs. The ban wasn't long and only applied to the radio.

    "They don't gotta burn the books, they just remove 'em" Sadly going on now.

    • @cloepoole6663
      @cloepoole6663 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately once people hear that lyric then they totally missed the one right after which I feel is more important arms warehouses fill as quick as the cell

    • @cliveklg7739
      @cliveklg7739 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cloepoole6663 I think you have it reversed on which one is more important.
      The Arms warehouses happen because of the corruption of those who would burn (remove) books.

    • @cloepoole6663
      @cloepoole6663 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cliveklg7739I understand that but knowledge and information can still be recorded and shared without official published works, I identify closely with anarchism so I hate the whole hierarchal bs, not saying that books aren't important it's just they are not the only avenue we have to record and store information.

    • @cliveklg7739
      @cliveklg7739 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cloepoole6663 You realize the state can shut down what gets shared on the internet as well.
      That information is critical to stand up to the state.
      Again the burning, removing off the shelves is exactly how the state makes the serfs (that is all we are to the rich) ignorant and easier to control. And that make them having those warehouses of arms easier.
      Just because that information is available now doesn't mean they won't burn/ban it in the future. And it will be harder and harder to find the truth when it happens as it already is now.

    Tom Morello “scratchin” on the guitar. Love it every time!

    "Is he singing or rapping?" Zack is dropping truth bomb after truth bomb, right on top of our heads! The power and straight-forward raw nature of this band is beyond reproach; and Tom Morello is one of the bravest rock guitarists I have ever heard, the guitar solo is him just scratching and wiping the strings, no fancy scales and arpeggios, he's not competing, he already won the sonic guitar game, by the same broken rules of rock and roll and hip hop! Yes, they were banned, they were likely "spooked" out of continuing their mission by the very powers that be that hired them to rile up the youth for a few $$$ in the first place...epic!

    • @sean78745
      @sean78745 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As much as I love rage, I dont think they were spooked out of anything. Thats absurd, these guys don't know how to just abide. You do the same thing for almost 25 years and you're gonna wanna evolve and do the next thing. Its safe to assume they just wanted to do something else and not completely focus on touring non stop.

    Haha!! Love it!! From someone who's been a RAGE fan for SO many years, I'm always shocked that people haven't heard these tunes. Dude, you've got a long, wild journey ahead into the RAGE library. I'll be out here watching and enjoying your reactions of you enjoying the music. Keep em' coming!🤘
    'Down Rodeo', 'Killing In The Name' are just a couple.

      People haven't heard these because Rage was the only group to have their entire discography banned from public radio after 9/11 and before the internet was everything. So happy I found this corner of youtube. I was 12 when the first album came out.

    Do rage against the machine - wake up!!! With lyrics up!!

  • @kobbe68
    @kobbe68 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    “Rally around the family” was a Republican slogan in the 90’s, inferring that they were the party of family values. Unfortunately, Rage Against the Machine was reminding us that they are also the political party responsible for keeping wars/money moving…so the chorus is “Rally Around the Family……..with a pocket full of shells”

    So much truth in the lyrics. The symbolism in this video requires a few watches. LA Riots were happening. Bulls on Parade was what people yelled when SWAT showed in full gear.

    Something I've always wondered, what would Hendrix have made of Tom Morello's solo, to this track? I think it would've blown his mind. :)
    You ask about being banned, I don't know, I could google it and pretend to be knowledgeable. I think people are banned more these days, for free speech, than back then. Sure people said bad thing, much more, in the 90s but free speech isn't banning things you don't like or are wrong. If you do that, it just makes it worse. Intollerance, racism, sexism, bigotry, hate needs to have its free speech so that it can be seen, shamed, ridiculed and destroyed!

    I bought this album in 96 and remember hearing bulls on parade, testify, and “killing in the name of” on the radio edited for swear words only. So as far as I know, no they weren’t banned.

    Never hold back speaking your mind JB, that's one of the reasons we all love you. All Rage is heat just like this was, rap/rock like no other band could come close to touching in my opinion. Try "Know Your Enemy" or "Wake Up" with lyrics handy next.

    Those red flags in the video aren't just there for contrast. Guitarist Tom Morello has a degree in political science and he and his bandmates describe themselves as leftists, primarily Socialists. Strong social criticism is to be expected from them.

    They were the Christmas number one song in England for the song killing in the name as a protest against the formulaic boy bands that were being mass produced by shows like X factor and got talent. We’re asked in their performance not to play the end of the song for language in it, but they kept it real, and got cut off in the live feed citing “technical difficulties “
