Hello! I'm 15 now and ojibwe! I've been singing this since I was around 8 ish in my group. I've had a falling out with my mother, which has disconnected me from my indigenous roots, however I still remember and love this song. This was one of my favorites. You all have beautiful voices. Miigwech!
I am absolutely in love with this song! I am in this drum group- and we sing this song to close it up, I usually start the push-up. The drum group I am apart of is the Haa Shagoon group. I think the only reason why I have joined the group is because my Mom was apart of it for awhile, and she passed away last year in May. I cried to this song one time, because I can feel her spirit there with me as I sing.
Thank you sooooooo much for this heart touching sound!💓🙏 This amazing drumming, strong woman in diffrent ages, playing and singing with the deepnes of their hearts to this powerful rythm🎵❤️🔥🎶🥁 ... The dramatic sky...🌥 So lovely embracing at last....🤗 Wow... Where is this place? I'm enjoying it so much since I've heard it last year. 🙂🙃 Sometimes I can hear it when I'm not well at diffrent places and just in this moment I feel better. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👋, Barbara

They are one and the same. The Turtle represents our beautiful Mother Earth and Grandmother Moon which guide women and remind us we are all sacred. This is also why it is known as the Strong Women's Song.
Beautiful!! I don't know this language. But it sounded like praise to me! Awesome! I know that native singing sends evil running. It has to be a part of God.
We don’t speak of “evil”, we do our best to live clean and honourable lives. When we sing we sing for the people, those whom have gone ahead, those that are here and need to hear song and those yet to be born.

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between this song and the "Turtle Song" sung by the Wabanaki?
They are one and the same. The Turtle represents our beautiful Mother Earth and Grandmother Moon which guide women and remind us we are all sacred. This is also why it is known as the Strong Women's Song.

To some people the creator does teach true the bible...it's the manipulation of words that harm

What tribe are you all from?
This version is a bit different from original.
What do the words mean? I love the sound. Is it the same as the Strong Women's song for missing and endangered women?
