With all due credit to the CASTING CROWNS for their fantastic arrangement, the Slavic Chorale's version is the definitive one for me, and I'm sure many others. It's the voice of angels... and if HOLLYWOOD was to do another American Civil War movie or any war movie, let alone a biopic of author Henry Wadsworth Longfellow... this is the exact recording I would use in the final scene. It has genuine feeling and humanity in it to the highest degree. Unfortunately, there has never been a single song, a poem, a hymn or a prayer that has brought about an end to war and suffering... as those responsible for such evil have no soul.

I have been searching for sometime to find a choir singing this music. I sang it in choir several years ago, Bass, and just loved it in our Christmas Program and you sang it perfectly. It is a very emotional piece of music, especially if you know the story of Longfellow behind it. "There is no peace on earth" seems to still hold true, even more so today. I do have a recording we used to practice this piece on CD and I still will listen to it from time to time. Thank you for this.
Here it is two years later and this song seems to reflect the challenges of our present time with all the discourse in our world where we all really need prayer to get us through these tough time.
This is the most hauntingly beautiful music that I have ever heard. The arrangement, choir and production is simply wonderful. This song will remain with me for a long, long time. Well done!
