Yeah, the conversation feature is great. You gave me an idea about gathering all of my current vocabulary of my target language along with the grammar rules I know and ask it to have a conversation with me using those words and correcting my mistakes along the way. This is like active recall on steroids.
One of the ways to have that human touch in learning language is to record yourself in video having the conversation with yourself with a script as a marker in case you forget.
Nice to know you live now in my town. By curiosity I am learning Russian now, not with Duolingo, but with Busuu. I don't know the differences but it is ok for now. Also asking some questions to ChatGPT 4o,, but not a structured approach. In a few minutes I will try to find a way to learn when I am walking at my threadmill. (Passadeira). Please, do you know any app or centre for learning especially German language (and any others like Spanish and French) and when you are done, you will be given a certificate that is internationally and globally recognised or accredited for you to be able to relocate to Germany as a foreign student? 🙏 And also where the German language exam(s) can be written? Unfortunately ChatGPT is not the best for European Portuguese. It keeps switching to BR Portuguese or mixing things and making mistakes. (and I don't know if the ChatGPT voice [in the app] is BR or PT, but probably BR). Most apps also don't offer European Portuguese (even if the flag is from Portugal). Drops does have European Portuguese, but it's mainly a vocabulary app. Still, it has good voices, a lot of vocab by different topics and you can learn for free 5 mins a day and it will help you expand your vocab, along with other studying you are doing for the language. There are a few others that also offer European Portuguese, but paid options (Babbel is also BR). OkyDoky has European Portuguese. Even Google Translate is usually bad with it, and mixes with BR, even though now it finally has the two varieties separate.
it will be possible with Duolingo very soon! they announced a bunch of cool stuff at Duocon this year. one of them is AI-driven conversations with in-app characters 🙌🏻
