Thanks Seth. Crappy demons of dirt inspired me from riding a freestyle bike to getting dumped off a atc250r that I had to pay for. It was terrible and I got hurt. Looking back 30 years that was awesome. Thanks for the dumb inspiration..it has served me well in life.
This podcast was awesome btw. Have not heard anything from seth in ages and every now an again id wonder what his up to these days. He needs to get himself out there more his to much of a legend to go unheard of for years.
This was the time i was a teenager working in a bike shop just consuming all this content. One of the guys at the shop used to ride with bubba back in the day and i remember him just stopping by. Definitely was a golden era. With social media and youtube it would never be the same.
In the dunes? He undershot and landed on McGrath brand new Hondas... emig just said that was the dumbest thing he's ever seen, he didn't have his bike landed on. MC was pissed. Besides fucking up MC's bikes he Could of killed someone, there was no where for Seth or anyone else to go anywhere.
I was a FMX Rider before Crusty came out in Perth ,Australia.125FT jumps on a YZ490 & Sand dunes forever.Yes MX Racers did not like us much.Called us Bush Bashers & were not interested in our Artwork with Nature. When Crushy came out it bit them on the arse.Evan today I ride my Raptor 700 full throttle in the Dunes & always will like a Surfer rides the Waves.
Seth: what gear you think I need to be in to make it? Friend: At most the top of 3rd!! Seth: Ok I'll hit it in top of 5th 🤪🤪🤪 just to be sure. Paramedic: I've never seen bones bend and break like that 🤪
I can’t help myself, so I don’t ride at all. The helmet goes on and a different person takes over. When you stop bouncing, you need to make the adult decision.
I always loved the riding videos and thought they offered an in depth view of MX as a whole. The personal approach seemed to humanize the high level pros forming a strong bond for us mere mortal amateurs. I will, however, admit that I wasn't a fan of the videos that were produced to shock for the sake of shock. Rider ability and attempts to push the limits will always be more impressive than poorly veiled, juvenile shock tactics. Riding, racing, and most any other personal interest or hobby, always includes work to put in and dues to pay....leading the fans and supporters into acting like fools as a norm or standard is never a good idea. Focusing on earning money as opposed to earning respect can cause anyone to severely compromise themselves. Actions speak very loudly.
The man inspired me and my brother to go big. My son is named after him. Fuck I miss the early 2000s.
