    One of my problems is that I want to dress like a 10 year old girl hahaha. My inner style is sequins and glitter and sparkle - if I could I would live in sequins 24/7. Every time I see a little girl in sparkly shoes and dresses I'm envious lol. I'm also very aware that all these bedazzled tops in the stores catering to us women of a certain age immediately add 10 years so I am constantly virtually slapping myself to look the other way. The struggle is real lol. I recently bought gorgeous "party shoes" with crystals that I posted to your group. I admire them every day sigh. I just can't bring myself to wear them or return them. I'll wear them out for our anniversary dinner next month.

      I won hundred percent feel your pain as I ooh and ahh over sparkles and Mary Jane’s and frilly dresses. I think we can find a way to bring these elements in char style so that we can have fun expressing that aspect of our style personality. I tried to limit those pieces to one or two in an outfit. I also try to stick to the sparkly stuff from really modern brands. My suggestion would be to find a couple of inspiration pics that have some of these elements in more doable ways and see if those work as style inspiration for you. There’s a way to have it all! :)

      @@NadaManley I have figured out though that Banana Republic and BR Factory pretty much sum up my actual style. I always look through their website for inspiration. Almost every day I'm wearing at least one piece from there (2 pieces today), so at least that's my go-to. I guess more BR Factory since they have more casual yet elevated pieces that I can wear working from home. It's about as far from my inner princess style imaginable, but maybe I feel safe in there since they are definitely NOT that.

      @@michelleisabel so glad you have found a store that works for where you’re at right now. I would encourage you to sprinkle some princess in whenever you can. :)

    I used to think that I was totally BoHo. In terms of wearing dresses and bright colors. But recently I discovered when I shifted my mindset into dressing as if I was on vacation, I wear things are so comfortable like jumpsuits. I discovered my love for jumpsuits, especially linen ones for the summer spring and possibly fall. I wear them with a cardigan a blazer, a sweater, a shirt, so many different ways. I finally feel like myself. The jumpsuit I wear is black or green or blue but mostly black and I wear different colorful toppers since the jumpsuits are tank style. I’ve been reaching for it every single day without thinking because it’s so comfortable and it looks perfect. I’m in my late 50s and I’ve always liked that base to wear as black pants with the black tank something that doesn’t cut the line of my body and always with an overall topper, but I think wearing a jumpsuit now solidifies that this formula is something I’ve always gone to as my quick get dressed and feel good outfit. It has always been my uniform when I want to look put together. I also realized that it always has to be on a flowy fabric. I thought I loved dresses, but I think it’s the flowiness I liked. I love how the jumpsuits makes me feel dressed up and casual at the same time. I don’t care that it looks like I am wearing the same style everyday. I feel great! And oddly I have gotten the most compliments at work from my students and fellow teachers since I embraced my uniform.

    These are great steps. Even before finishing the video, I thought of items in my closet that I JUST bought in the last few months that are not getting worn... and I now see why. I am sure going through the full set of steps will crystalize it even more. Excited to get started. My husband won't be thrilled that I when he sees stuff I just bought in the donate pile :) Thanks for such an informative and actionable video!

    I really LOVE your videos showing a photograph of an outfit, if it's a 'yes' or a 'no', 'not cute'. How to change an outfit to something stylish & attractive, up-to-date. I receive catalogs in the mail, retailers selling the very outfits making us look frumpy. I'm 72 and still want to look stylish , so, it's a 'no' on tunic matching sets. 😉

    This is such a great video!! I'm sharing it with my grown daughters. I'm also working on this myself.
    I tend to random shop without any plan, I'll pick a really cute top or pants I actually love, bring the item home, and have nothing to go with it. Then it hangs in my closet forever.
    I'm going to try narrow my style and see if it helps me A) find things in my closet I already love and B) shop more intentionally with my keywords in mind! Thanks again for this video. Very useful!!😊😊

    • @NadaManley

      I’m so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful! The system works at every age. :) just a thought about those tops and pants that enter your wardrobe that don’t have anything to go with them. If you love them, try styling them with basics. Jeans or a simple, solid top can often be the backdrop item that lets your signature pieces shine. Good luck with discovering your personal style. I hope you enjoy the process!

    Fantastic video!! I find i have two personalities...one for work and one for non-work activities. Should i try to merge the two or can I stay preppy, classic and refined at work and colorful, ethereal and light/flowy the rest of the time?

    • @NadaManley
      @NadaManley  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! Great question! I think you'll find that there's a subtle common thread that runs between the two and that is the essence of your personal style. It's the same person picking both! But I think having a different style for different settings is practical and also gives more room for self-expression. Nothing wrong with that! :)

    Finally I can clean out my closet. Simple, modern, bold, color block, contrasting…to my heritage of Hawaiian bold flowy and bright. Neutral colors black, navy, white. Red and royal blue are my supplement colors. It took your program for me to figure this out after donating bags of clothes…so much waste.

    femmine, classy elegance, soft, simple lines What if yr personal style does not fit yr lifestyle? I love dresses, but dresses on a boat?thus, i wear skorts, but I love linen and silk dresses. What do i say when people comment negatively on my personnel style ie. arent yr legs cold in a dress, why are so so dressed up??

    • @NadaManley
      @NadaManley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great, great questions! I have a dress these and other videos, but I might do a video specifically on this. Check out my your style but casual video. We have talked about people making remarks a little bit. I think the best approach is to shrug and not answer. Eventually they get bored. Sometimes I have even just said thank you which can be kind of funny and unexpected. Just know that there are a lot of us here who have your back. People may make a passing comment, but your style impacts your life much more than it impacts theirs, so dress for you

      Here are a few responses to people who make negative comments about your style:
      “I have to get dressed, so I might as well make it fun!”
      “I like experimenting with fashion”
      “I really enjoy putting on clothes that make me feel great”
      “I love wearing clothes based on my mood at the moment”

    I'm 74 now and my forties were the best times of my life!!!
    If I could dress the way I wanted to regardless of age or lifestyle or body type--- I'd dress like a dressed up gypsy!! I always thought that the ruffled blouses, the ruffled flowy skirts and peasant type dresses were the ultimate of femininity and sensuality! That looks does not fit with my ultra casual life style, plus sized figure or my age! I do have a few purses that give a nod to this style and one dress. What looks the best on my body is simple rounded lines and more dressed up looks!! So I still haven't really found my style!! You'd think by now I'd have it locked in!
