Anyone who says his (bobs) best work was during X decade has never truly listened to his work. Stop trying to define this man...I can’t and you can’t either
Oh, brother! Next time you do one of these videos, make sure you have the correct pronunciation of everybody’s name! And make sure you have the correct car photos too, that Cadillac you showed isn’t an Escalade but an Eldorado from the 50’s
Exactly! It's as if the '57 Eldorado Biarritz shown as an Escalade might have been the exclamation point after misrenouncing (Norm Crosbyism intended - R.I.P.) everyone's names.
This needs updating. Dylan's net worth is FAR in excess of a mere $200,000,000. And he deserves every last penny and more. A lot of geniuses have died penniless. I'm glad Dylan has fared well. The artist Cezanne always come to mind when I think about Dylan. Because genius comes along so rarely, as does a Cezanne. We are fortunate to be contemporaries and have the opportunity to love and appreciate his music. There is no living artist who has meant more to me in my lifetime.
Then you might have missed the video clip where McCartney says about a party with Dylan present, "I thought I got the meaning of life that night". I think he was half-joking. The video production, by contrast, doesn't know it's entirely a joke.
Bob fits a slot that no one dare go. He is the only one that can get away with this style. He does not adjust nor does he compromise. He knew he he was in 1959 and stayed in that groove.
The living room with the oval opening in the ceiling (9:52) is actually Kykuit, the John D. Rockefeller mansion in New York. So ask yourself, how legit are the rest of these photos? The whole video is a ridiculous waste of time.
Gary Niemeier, the rest of phots, ie those of Dylan himself are legit, naturally. The supposed mansions, and supposed net worth varies from video to video posted on TH-cam. Dylan is a very private person and very adept in protecting his privacy. I cannot see him allowing anyone to disclose where and how he lives.
I know, all of the thrown in real estate photos for filler...all of the interriors...what a joke. Oh well. If a whole lot of people thought they would have to know stuff about me, I wouldn't really care what version they got, if It would satisfy them enough to leave me alone...
Indeed. If all he can do is read text without bothering to learn your subject, he really shouldn't be making these videos at all. How could he fail to correctly pronounce the surname of Joan Baez, one of the most famous folk singers of all time? He just embarrassed himself here.
Since we're picking nits the line is *know* your song well.😆 But, yeah, this video sucked. 10 minutes that would have been better spent listening to Desolation Row.
Barry Speight, if your focus was on whether the names were pronouced properly, then yes you wasted your time. The narrator is English, with a working class level of English, so he pronouces the names like an English person does. No need to be so petty

This video is about as interesting as the moment that I almost met Bob Dylan at JazzFest in New Orleans in 2009 +/-. He was sitting on the ground at the NOLA Fairgrounds in a shadow, facing the outside of a wall where he would be performing later that day. He looked so miserable. I didn’t have the heart to go up to him. It was about 10:30am. I just felt he needed to be alone. And he made me feel that way too. Yes, Bob D can darken a moment as well as light it up.

Boy, this is a REALLY shoddy job! The narrator mispronounced Duluth, Dylan's daughter Desiree's first name, and identified Echo Helmstrom, Dylan's high school sweetheart, as Dana Gillespie. There are other examples, but you get the idea. This guy sounds like someone reading a third rate book report, without enthusiasm.
"Duh-Looth", accent on the 2nd syllable. "Buy-ehz", slight accent 1st syllable, lower pitch on 2nd syllable. "Minnuhsotuh." The definitive evangelical song (the secular-minded might say 'phenomenological song') from the 79' album was "You Gotta Serve Somebody." Many think his "My Back Pages", 1964, signifies his refusal of political and ethical platitudes (",,,,',Equality,' I said those words as though a wedding vow. Ah, but I was so much older then; I'm younger than that now.")
Is that a real voice or one of those computer-generated voices? I stuck with it after his inability to pronounce Desiree, but when I heard "Joan Bays".. I was finished.
