❤such a great video Matt! Very grateful for your honesty. I suppose you have to decide which part of your audience you will be guided by...will it be people that act from a deep sense of care about you and the horses, or will it be by the insecure audience that push for unrealistically high standards that will inevitably lead to personal feelings of failure. You are at a point of crossroads in your life and need to choose now for personal sustainability. Sorry if this sounds weird😅 I just see the darkside of social media can push some people down the cliff, instead of offering you a hand of help .
Hope you and Jesse and the horses settle in to your new place and best wishes for finding a suitable property for the horses and you guys. ❤❤❤

I don't think it's arrogant at all to talk about the pressure of competing when there are lots of eyes on you. Especially when you have a big following. You seem to be a very reflected, humble human being. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!

Matt, You’re the most genuinely humble and gracious young man I know who also happens to be confident. There are WAY more people who appreciate everything you share than there are critics. It’s not worth allowing the critics to occupy any amount of brain cells in your mind. Keep it up. You’re doing great things!

Matt, anyone who has followed your VLOGs and saw what you did for Sureño, knows you go above and beyond that extra mile. I knew you cared for your horses but I garnered a lot of respect for you when I saw all you did for Sureño … and the time you took to ensure he went to an equally caring home. Actions speak louder than words! 🙏🙌

I agree. However I admit at first I was very upset when Matt decided to sell Sureno. However now knowing what a great person he sold him to and the life Sureno has I agree he did the right thing
In my life I never could sell a horse but Sureno now has a very good life and Matt did follow through with his commitment to Sureno. It is a risk when you put yourself out on social media. Guess it may help to have your people proof some of the comments that may be offensive. You and Jesse and both very handsome men and it appears both of you respect each other even when you don't always agree and this is normal. Personally I am a very passionate person and my attitude is I give everything I have to care for my animals.
I respect both Matt and Jesse. I wish more people were as dedicated to their animals as you

I've been watching Matt for some time and I am continually impressed by his emotional maturity, especially given his age. Clearly sensitive, self-reflective, and highly compassionate, he is also fun, hard-working, and open. What an amazing and wonderful combination! (Yes, I'm using a lot of adjectives, but hey, they apply.) Matt is a terrific person, always a delight to watch. I'm sad that he gets online haters.

You will never please everyone, Matt. Anyone who has followed you for any length of time knows how you care for and treat your horses. I cannot understand why people are so quick to judge and criticize others, especially online. If we all put as much effort into kindness and support, the world would be a different place. Keep doing what you’re doing. It is so fun watching your horse journey!

Matt, as human beings we always tend to focus on the negative feedback . We can get 20 compliments and one negative response and we obsess over the one bad thing and overlook the 20 great comments provided. For the record- you are a great horse parent. Matt, here is my criticism .. You are your own worst enemy. I understand it all too well. You are humble, loved, and admired, and what you and Jesse do for your horses is above and beyond. We love what you share .. good and bad. By the way, a good horseman ALWAYS wonders if we are doing the right thing, and if there is more we can do. Your animals are very lucky to have you.

My fav vlogs include the horse readings. Now we have the “Matt” readings. Both are intriguing. I love the point she made about avoiding “have to” or “must do” or “never” or “always” judgements. Someone once told me to avoid creating my own dualisms and dichotomies. Black and white only scenarios are not accurate in most situations and just create more trouble, stress and anxiety.

I hope good people like Matt will always find a way to not let the toxic people steal a minute of the happiness you deserve.

Matt, the only comments and opinions you should care about are from those people you care about and you know that care about you. Those of us, who are the masses of followers, don't KNOW you or your horses. We only get to see the tidbits you allow us to see when you post. Don't let follower comments affect you. You listen to Jesse, your family, your close friends...those whom you've allowed in your inner circle.

    Wow! Mattia!
You have hit a nerve there!
Creative souls always have an opening for someone else who might feel that saying cruel words will make them feel big!
    Think about that.
But their cruel words says more about THEM, than it says about YOU.
Mattia, it’s taken me years (I’m 68) to ‘get’ that!

SOMETHING to remember is 'just breathe'.Horses will keep you humble and honest.I watched you ride and out of 1000 riders I see clearly you are one with the horse.Too many never experience that connection as they themselves are focused only on themselves. To put it bluntly, they look like a sack of potatoes riding a horse. You my friend have a deep passion for the animal and it clearly shows.Don't sweat the small stuff and just enjoy what you do that comes naturally.

Really am impressed with how you see the importance of these deeper dives into what makes us tick Matt, to me it's all about balance. There are so many personality types out there in the world, you are brave deciding to share on social media, and you are also wise that you block those who are only there to see what kind of damage they can place onto you. Some of this intense growth, especially how and what others think of you gets better with age, and because you have such determination to go deeper than the average person, you will get there sooner. Your parents must be so proud of you Matt, I know if you were my child I certainly would be. Thanks for taking us along on your introspection of the world you live in.

Its really like parenting. Our horsemanship reflects our past. Our wishes for our horses. Our sensitivities about the world & the care we want to take.
It hurts me to think negative comments or unfounded criticism has even taken up space in your life. Its that opportunity that the "unsatisfied" take so easily...typing out an uncalled for post. Your joy & your beautiful life deserve only more joy & beauty. I'm a lifelong rider/trainer now equine bodyworker. I think my sensitivity leads to very high standards. And you & Jesse are one of the very few people I even watch on TH-cam!!! Because you are uniquely inspiring. Keep true to yourself...its all that matters.🦄✨️

Matt, Matt, Matt, it was so clear why when people commenting on how you care for your horses it disturbs you.Because it is so far from the truth. I will say one thing ‘Chase’ . .. people should watch the video when you were transporting him to the Netherlands. You documented all of it. Your biggest concern was Chase, and in the airplane , your only thought was if he was comfortable and ok. You and Jesse are polite, kind, thoughtful. You live and love your equine family members with integrity 👏👏👏

I love your honesty here! I will say that I love the equestrian community, but there are a TON of know it alls who won’t hesitate to tell you that you’re doing something “wrong.” And so many times they conflict with what other folks are telling you to do. I’ll just say that you are the only one in your shoes - you know yourself and your horses better than anyone, so only you can make the best decisions for your herd. Everyone else is operating from a different space where they don’t know the whole story, so their “advice” is inherently biased. It’s hard, but just listen to your own gut and know that you’ll find a way that’s right for you.

As an equine professional and competitive dressage rider with a VERY small media following, only to help find new students, I can't imagine what it's like to have that many eyes on you. As if horses, training and competing - and fighting that little voice in your head - isn't hard enough, having that little bit of constant negative feedback (even if most of it is good) is exhausting! At the end of the day, you are so successful for a reason, so just trust you are doing the right things. The haters are just insecure and jealous and probably live a sad life, and I commend you for your courage to keep going because you are such an important ambassador for our sport. My only criticism is that this video is way too short lol : ))) I personally would love to see more content like this because it's super relatable and makes me feel better about my own struggles. Sending tons of love and support

Feel for you a lot. Anonymity is an amazing thing, and until it is lost, we do not regard it high enough. Being known and knowing that many are hoping to see you fail must be so hard, they don't know you so why would they but I guess that is the nature if the beast. All I can offer is use the energy from all those watching, or you fear are watching, and use it as a stepping stone to each tiny move. Being at an event and it goes wrong, is still a win because millions are still not brave enough to do it. Keep your horses as you keep them. Rhey look really well, they look calm and confident. You have to walk your stride in your direction at your pace. Other people are static and noise. Learn to tune it out. Love and light to you all.

I loved this video. I, unfortunately, put way too much pressure on myself…to the point I feel that I’m sabotaging myself (and my horse). I had a super good horse, I bought him as a yearling and had him with me until his untimely demise at the young age of 18. This horse made me compete in classes I never thought I could. I jumped 1 meter 40 classes. A lot of people judged me and criticized me out of jealousy…when my horse died, I was told that people kinda cheered and were ‘happy’ because for them it took me down from my ‘high horse’… Ever since, I had a young horse who had a stroke so he’s not rideable anymore and I bought another horse with whom I’m terrified of competing because I’m scared of judgment.

    • @poppymason-smith1051
      @poppymason-smith1051 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Im so sorry you've experienced the toxicity of the horse industry like that. All you can do is try to stay self focussed and not worry about them judging. They're only doing so as you're doing something right when they can't see how they're doing something wrong. And with people being glad your horse passed you have to just shut it out as I've felt similar over something far more mundane and it'll always hurt. They win if they get to you to the point you can't feel you can compete. So therefore compete again to spite them if nothing else. I'm very sensitive and I always have to frame doing something despite judgement as me "spiteing" them, otherwise I daren't take a step for my own betterment. Feel pride in what you've achieved with your past horse, with your younger disabled horse, and what you will achieve with this newer one!

Don't even think for a second you have to prove yourself. When people think/say "If you did this, or you did that it would be better." That's in THEIR minds. Other people's ignorance isn't a problem you should worry about. If you want to educate them or let them know, you can note why you do things, but yes you are correct when you said, "that's what they think." You're a smart cookie, Matt. Nice video, I will be subscribing to HorseWorldTV and catching up with Jesse's channel soon as well. ^-^ You are doing great, and remember, true fans don't care whether or not you're perfect. We want you to enjoy life to the fullest, which includes making mistakes and feeling vulnerable and imperfect at times, this is how we learn, bond, and grow. (: 👍 🧠🫂🌱 🐴💛🧑

This was an interesting conversation and interesting content...one thing that came up for me relative was Don Miquel Ruiz Second Agreement...Don't take things personally: "Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves. All people live in their own dream, in their own mind; they are in a completely different world from the one we live in. When we take something personally, we make the assumption that they know what is in our world, and we try to impose our world on their world.
Even when a situation seems so personal, even if others insult you directly, it has nothing to do with you. What they say, what they do, and the opinions they give are according to the agreements they have in their own minds…Taking things personally makes you easy prey for these predators, the black magicians. They can hook you easily with one little opinion and feed you whatever poison they want, and because you take it personally, you eat it up…."
It is a long chapter but really worth reading for anyone especially for a social media personality.

Thank you for sharing. I have a just the prettiest 5 year old WB you ever did see, but I rarely post anything about her because I'm a little afraid of the toxicity online and I'm not even an influencer! The reality is that there is a huge difference between a learning curve and animal abuse, but that's why we have trainers to try and improve. It's all about the journey not the destination.

Thank you for sharing and being open Matt , can relate on so many issues and I think she was right , both of you we are always questioning can we do more or better for our horses and that opens up insecurity nerve that people Can so easily touch that nerve and we feel the judgment so hard because we care that hard.
I work at a therapeutic riding facility for disabled people and also look after 3 wonderful retired show horses on the equestrian property I now live on and I’m so thankful for the experience of being around horses and the joy it brings along with the great responsibility!
    Take care

Matt is being so helpful by talking about his insecurities because we all have those. My own helpful little tip for someone in the public eye is just to be real and genuine and, in all your successes and learning, you will be relatable to people. There are always the people who love to pull others down but they are not worth listening to. I’m rooting for Matt and Jesse - love them both and wishing them well.
