- The Secrets Of The Self: The Philosophical Poetry Of Muhammed Iqbal (Islamic Mysticism). Published in 1915, Asrar-i-Khudi (Secrets of the Self) was the first poetry book of Iqbal. Considered by many to be Iqbal's best book of poetry, it is concerned with the philosophy of religion. In a letter to the poet Ghulam Qadir Girami (d.1345/1927), Iqbal wrote that "the ideas behind the verses had never been expressed before either in the East or in the West." R.A. Nicholson, who translated the Asrar as The Secrets of the Self, says it caught the attention of young Muslims as soon as it was printed. Iqbal wrote this in Persian because he felt the language was well-suited for the expression of these ideas. In Asrar-e-Khudi, Iqbal has explained his philosophy of "Khudi," or "Self." Iqbal' s use of term "Khudi" is synonymous with the word of "Rooh" as mentioned in the Quran. "Rooh" is that divine spark which is present in every human being and was present in Adam for which God ordered all of the angels to prostrate in front of Adam. However, one has to make a great journey of transformation to realize that divine spark which Iqbal calls "Khudi". A similitude of this journey could be understood by the relationship of fragrance and seed. Every seed has the potential for fragrance within it. But to reach its fragrance the seed must go through all the different changes and stages. First breaking out of its shell. Then breaking the ground to come into the light developing roots at the same time. Then fighting against the elements to develop leaves and flowers. Finally reaching its pinnacle by attaining the fragrance that was hidden within it. In the same way, to reach one's khudi or rooh one needs to go through multiple stages which Iqbal himself went through, spiritual path which he encourages others to travel. He notes that not all seeds reach the level of fragrance. Many die along the way, incomplete. In the same way, only few people could climb this Mount Everest of spirituality, most get consumed along the way by materialism. Its seems that there is a Spirit of the time and a Spirit of the depths. The Spirit of the time wants you to conform to the ways of society in the time you are born. The Spirit of the depths wants you to express the deepers parts of yourself. There are pains and pleasure in both. The more we can remember to have the eyes and mind of a child the more we can feel heaven within and see it around. All around us is a reflection of us and the mirriads of beliefs, thoughts, imaginations. Through stillness the Spirit of the one Speaks within. Still the mind and the body and look within.
Carl Jung said this in the Red Book. Yet you present it to us here like it's your idea.

What do YOU think mediation is? Seriously.... Because there's a massive difference between what is propogated and it's intended meaning. Meditation is simply to burn away, to purify, through patience, concentration, observation, in the NOW Moment, without any preconceived notions of perspective of mental images. The Self is physical, observable, micro to macro in all of creation. It's the five petal divergent bloom at the end of pressure. Find Center to bloom out. God is the floral pattern, the Self is the floral pattern. Clockwise reveals pattern in all, pattern is relief of pressure and alignment with The One.

@@kristyharland3950 We all face similar issues through different moments of time. It seems to be a response to trauma and also come from what we entertain wether that be media or the friends we keep for two can not walk together unless they be in agreement. This is the same with what we let our eyes perceive. As we entertain a thing we become in agreement with it for that is how consciousness is. It's like water that forms to the container it resides in. We overcome our superficial self by entering into the depths of our self where the Spirit of the depths reside. That is where we must face the serpent on the pole=fear and walk through it so that we may overcome it.

The narrating is great as always, yet I fail to understand this piece, maybe you could share the paradox of the seemingly strenghtening of the ego in order to ascent?
Well, this reading is not necessarily something that I thought was very important, but was/is part of me exploring some paths that I'm less versed in.
You do not eat or want to live? These are desires of the body which is born from the mind. There maybe so-called unimportance of desire and passions but it is all generated by the mind. It is not something you can really try to escape from within this plane of existence. You can either explore your desires, passions and will (all of them) and learn to accept that this plane is dual in nature and nothing should be suppressed.
Besides there are many illusions until we merge with the One completely. You are only in 3rd density thus far and if I am not mistaken, you have 4 more to go.
I'm still listening, but The Self isn't about personal self or ego. It's the eternal impersonal SELF of all, the shaped and the unshaped. But he's within all. So all is The One experiencing ultimate reality.
@@light9623This plant is a unity, not a duality. That's a total fallacy, all paradoxical unity must be realized in full in order to find The One. The One isn't found through passions or desires, the extinction of desires will have one doing what none desire, finding out what is/what is not.

Very good poem with very bad reading. A Muslim hardly recognises Muslim terms in it, a non Muslim can't understand them at all, as the way the man, AI is reading them, they do not exist....it is not shik but it is ShEih you read it "a", not i....for example. The pictures are very beautiful, but they move so fast, that my eyes still hurt a few hours after watching half of it....i'd rather read the poem myself....
