- Here is composer Alan Menken's demo for "Your Day Begins Tonight" from the film version of Little Shop of Horrors, with lyrics by Howard Ashman. Their 1982 musical would be adapted into the 1986 film, directed by Frank Oz. According to Alan, this song was written for the film's end credits, though it went unused.

A second cut credits song!! Whoa!!
I've always heard of this song, even as far back as the old Cinefantastique article. But never heard it before today, thanks! Heavy Jim Steinman vibes.
Sounds so relaxing
I am (nearly) crying from these demos. Unbelievably thrilling to hear. Thank you for sharing them.
Just when I thought I knew everything about little shop, this channel always surprises me with something new. Great work!
Edit: Also a few questions, was this song intended to be used for the original ending or the new? And do you know why it was never used?
Menken said it was written for the end credits, but nothing else about it. Judging by the lyrics, this was written to ironically reflect the original ending. It's an upbeat song about doing what it takes to be successful, no matter how hard. It reminds me of "Eyes of a Child" in the South Park movie, which is about how kids are sweet little angels. Both songs deliberately clash with what happens in the actual movie.
AND THIS SONG WAS CUT?!
