The Toyota synergy drive uses an eCVT transmission which is purely gear driven via a planetary gear set not belt driven. A DSG gearbox as used in VW group cars in inferior in so many ways - it uses a complex clutch plates that wear and requires expensive servicing and does not always work smoothly at low speeds around town. The eCVT is a masterpiece of engineering developed over 25 years by Toyota much better in my opinion.
I started reading the comments for the same reason: these hybrids don't use a belt or chain driven CVT, it actually isn't technically a CVT at all. A planetary gear set merely results the same characteristics as a CVT. This isn't anything new so you'd expect a reviewer going on an on about it would actually know what he or she would talk about. But no.
This is a good and decently practical car. My two criticisms of it are superficial, first, the name, of all the vehicles Suzuki has(and this includes the Fronx)this is the dumbest. Second is the designers from Suzuki are continually doing the least in terms of design of the borrowed models. When you look at the Starlet and Urban Cruiser they did alot compared to their Suzuki counterparts.
Suzuki offer up to 7 years warranty if they service your car. Surprised this guy didn't know that. He also needs to have a strong coffee before his next review, he looks like he was falling asleep here.
Disappointing knowledge on gearbox. This channel usually is superbly informative BUT on this occasion the presenters whole demeanour is strange and appears to really not his normal self. One of the worst this channel has ever priduced
The Suzuki is cheaper , the top spec Swace is the same price as the entry level Corolla . I've owned a Suzuki Celerio for over 6 years and it's the best car I've ever had .

If its the same price as the identical toyota why get the Suzuki?
