Hi Everyone, I hope you enjoy this step-by-step woodworking lesson that will result in a beautiful home office writing desk.
I’ve simplified this project by building the desk with mostly pocket hole joinery.
In this episode we build the apron, attach the apron to the legs, build and install the drawer runners and then build the drawers. I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I did building the desk. If you build this desk or any of my projects please share them on Instagram and tag #jonpeters I’d love to see what you made.
    Thanks for watching, Jon

I want you to know that you’ve inspired me to build furniture. You have a way to explain things that are easy to understand. I’ve made several pieces of yours. I’m in the process of building a shop at the house so I can really get to building. Thank you for all your videos. Take care!

Clean, classic style and design! If ‘This Old House’ was to ever make a comeback of the original style of the show…..I’d recommend Jon to headline the craftsman position. Great work as always!

Many thanks for such a clear demonstration of the runners and kickers on the drawers (as well as your entire explanation all along the way). Establishing the lower reveal on the drawer front with a slightly proud drawer runner is genius.

So many great tips in this video, Jon! Those little spacer blocks for lining up the drawer sides seems so obvious, but I had never thought of it before!

Thanks Art! They really do do a great job of keeping the board from moving and add a lot of strength… Tied to the back of the face frame and the leg with a big glue joint.

    Hi Mr. Jon
At 18:30 minutes, I noticed how you used a block of wood to help drill the pocket holes in the rails. That was a pretty cool way to do that. Maybe you could do a short video showing how you come up with that idea.
    Thanks Mr. Jon

I really enjoy your videos. You have a clear and concise way of presenting these projects that makes them much less intimidating. I like that you use tools that most novice to intermediate woodworkers would have. Seems it's difficult to find a channel these days that's not using Dominos for every project. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own one, but I just can't justify the cost at the level I'm at at this point. I love that you use pocket holes when many seem to look down upon them. Really good stuff. Thanks for putting these together.

Nice table, Jon. I learned a long time ago that the order of operations is just as important as the design and technique used. You definitely showed that.

    Thanks in advance.

6:11 And makes sure - w/o having to measure - all legs are exactly the same on both sides in relation to the apron.

I appreciate the craftsmanship, and ai know it’s heresy … but unless you’re keeping window sash weights in those drawers, pocket screws hold drawers together just fine. BTW it looks great … love the detail of the drawer pulls matching the top.

  • @niles-wellingtonwoodworks7255
    @niles-wellingtonwoodworks7255 ปีที่แล้ว

I noticed a second table saw - not that that is so unusual in and of itself, many advanced woodworkers have two TSs - I'm just wondering why you switched to the other saw from your SawStop half way through the drawer construction? Seems like you could have done all of the drawer construction with the SS.
    Thanks.
Beautiful work by the way. Love your channel.

Thanks Niles, I keep a flat ground tooth blade in the powermadic table saw… when I cut groves or rabbits I use the powermadic so I don’t have to change the blade.
