The snapback in the throttle comes from the carb. It could be that the cable is routed improperly, it's too long, or that the carb is gunked up and sticking open.

I’ll check that out. I’m not so sure the cable wasn’t routed properly when I removed it, but the length of the one I installed doesn’t allow much extra room, and it’s for an 86 700. Next step is to address the carbs, but with the throttle cable disconnected, it does snap back pretty well. Thank you for watching and the advice!

@@JustGoofinRound If it's snapping back with the cable disconnected, make sure it's not binding in the handle switch and that the cable is lubricated.

@mrrabbit7056 I was just doing some reading, and I read that it needed lubricating. I’m wondering if my issue is mostly in the grip/housing though. It feels to me like it’s coming from in there.

Did u check spark? If you're spraying Starting fluid, and there's spark, something has to happen, even if it's bad.... If it's been sitting, have u looked in the airbox for mice nest's yet? ( the ether and spark may help find those too!)

@@rodrice1495 I actually didn’t, and didn’t think about it until a day or so later. I had it running when I got it last month, and didn’t think that could be an issue. I don’t think battery was the strongest either, which could have been a factor. Thanks for watching!!
