Life of Fred: The first book is super easy. As the series continues, it does get to where it says it will. I will say that unless u enjoy the stories, there’s no purpose lol (my opinion). My 8th grader is currently in the second book but she likes the stories and thinks they are funny. She does it once a week to give her a break from her regular grammar program.

We did the Scarlet Letter graphic novel and it was pretty much spot on with the full novel. My ADHD son loved it that way.

My daughter may enjoy that approach, but my son is not a big fan of those. She also has ADHD ;)

I didn't like Simply Grammar, a Charlotte Mason grammar workbook by Karen Andreola, because my mind is always a blank when it comes to using my imagination in the realm of filling blanks. I was better with fan art and fan comics when I was a girl and a teenager and fan fiction, mostly haiku, clerihews, mega crossovers, parodies and adaptations with existing characters. I tried making up original characters for Christian alternatives to Pokémon, Harry Potter and South Park, but I struggled.
